I would love to see a Hercules BD. I'm tired of the non-anamorphic DVD.

Yeah, I'd like to see the non-classic animated titles as well.... Tarzan, Atlantis, Lilo, etc...

How is 650 screens a wide release? I understand what you are saying, but when Nightmare was being played in 3D before the BD release, Blu-Ray was still in it's infancy and I don't think Disney was really thinking about releasing just yet. Plus Nightmare had been played in theaters for 2 years prior to the BD release, Beauty & the Beast hasn't been played in theaters since it's IMAX release a decade ago (or close to it) so releasing the BD BEFORE they re-release the film would be bad marketing on their part. Parents aren't going to take their kids to see a movie they can buy and watch at home. I would still go, just because it's my favorite Disney movie and would love to see it on the big screen again (first saw it back in 1991) but it wouldn't make sense on their part.

I believe the industry definition of a "wide release" is 600+, so it'd qualify.

I guess your right and iam wrong, I guess i know nothing at all about how things are released, but wait NIGHTMARE WAS RELEASED ON BLURAY a MONTH BEFORE ITS WIDEST THEATRICAL and longest run RERELEASE!! (the 2006 and 2007 rereleases were very very limited) (just as this years re release of it was very limited)

iam done talking to you obviously you are the expert on disneys marketing plans and why they do things the WAY they do.

Hey just as a heads up for those of you who bought the steelbooks of the Pinnochio and SLeeping beauty, I just got back home about a hour ago from bestbuy, they happily price matched walmarts 18.86 for pinnochio and 19.86 for sleeping beauty for me. so if you have bought the steelbooks you might want to go to cs and get them price matched.

Sucks Disney is releasing Alice in Wonderland on 2 disc dvd in March and Great Mouse detective again on dvd in april, with no High def release of either insight.

we dont even have a date or anything yet for Dumbo,(though it is playing its limited engagement at the el capitan right now so its got to be pretty soon, but you would think this close to the time it was rumored to be on blu we would be getting an actual release date and pre order by now) same goes for beauty and fantasia

The Princess and The Frog is now slated for March 16th as single BD and the usual BD/DVD/DCopy combo edition.

So "Dumbo" is getting a BD in the UK and also Japan in March, BD in Hong Kong in February, Alice In Wonderland is getting a BD in Italy, and The Great Mouse Detective gets left behind on DVD only, even though Ultimate Disney claims it is from a 'new restoration'.

Remember how "The Black Cauldron" disappeared from every schedule? I'm still waiting for that one

Evidently "The Black Cauldron" is coming in June. No sign of a BD release though ;o(

Monsters Inc. wasn't region-coded when it came out first in the UK, and ordering from amazon.co.uk even with shipping wound up being slightly cheaper than the asking price at Amazon's domestic site, IIRC. Hopefully the same will hold true with Finding Nemo.

Looking at Disney's previous release history with Pixar films on BD, I'd say we have a better chance of seeing Finding Nemo get released here when Toy Story 3 hits BD and DVD around the holiday shopping season (like November).....I mean, since TS 1 and 2 are already coming out near the end of March here, I don't see any way that Disney rushes out another highly requested title like Nemo so soon afterward...they'll probably wait to cross promote the catalog release of Nemo with the day and date of TS3, like they did with Monsters Inc and Up (or Cars and Ratatouille)....

It already does. There are some clips in the Pixar documentary on the Wall-E disc and it's absolutely stunning.

I sold that Fantasia box set a few yrs back, and I've been anxious to watch F2000 again. Looking forward to it!

Re: Disney Classic Animation BD Plans: 2009-2010 - Pinocchio, Snow White, Fantasia, B

I keep logging on to amazon every day hopeing to be surprised and find a listing for dumbo, fantasia or Beauty and the beast on bluray. But get disapointed everyday. I wish that they would quit announcing a schedule super early if they have no intention sticking to it.
and seriously what the heck is up with a brand new release of Alice with a brand new transfer on dvd timed with the dvd release and then nothing on bluray. same goes with the great mouse detective another brand new transfer and nothing for bluray.

I went and saw Dumbo at the el capitan last night (2nd time durring this re release) and it looks absolutely amazing, and walking afterwards i was aggravated cause its still not been given a date yet. the el capitan re release has always been 3 weeks to a month before for every other dvd reissue and yet for dumbo its not.

You know you can just put that in the search bar and just sign up for email alert when it does become available for pre-order.
