re: Star Wars

Not all theatrical posters are something that should be re-used. I have many discs that did use the poster and I wish they didn't. Way too many giant head shots or multiple floating heads.

This is a ploy to appeal to the collector set out there, who will want to collect them all. Better to get them to buy 6 separate releases instead of the single set box.

re: Star Wars

There are SO many interivews, specials, documentaries, etc. just sitting in the Lucasfilm archives that have never seen the light of day on Blu-ray. Why not enhance a new release with those? The extras Lucas and Lucasfilm chose for the first Blu-ray release were, honestly, not all that great - especially where the OT is concerned.

Oh well, maybe someday.

Could be worse, I guess; we could have gotten Jar Jar and Ewok covers. And at least this means I'm not tempted to rebuy.

BTW: If actor images are the issue, wouldn't that apply to the Sidious/Emporer cover that is used? Or maybe Ian McDiarmid is thrilled to be the only actor that is cover worthy in this new world.

I wasn't sure whether or not it would apply to him because he is in heavy makeup and is clearly appearing as a Star Wars character. Same for Ray Park/Darth Maul. If you just had Harrison Ford's head, it might not be as easy to make that argument.

Really though I'm just talking out of my ass. I have no idea what the deal really is, just throwing thoughts out there.

Chose Ian only because he actually appears more normal looking in part of the same series of movies. Not so with Ray.

re: Star Wars

They use their likenesses all the time on the novels so I see no reason they couldn't on video releases. I think this was just an artistic thing. Odd to have Yoda among five villains though.

No double dipping here either. Not unless the OT is included.

Personally, I think they are saving the OOT Blu-ray release for 2017 for the 40th anniversary.

It's foreshadowing episode 8.

re: Star Wars

Having Yoda makes sense since the Jedi were basically a bunch of fuck ups who allowed the Emperor to take control. Lucas shit all over the Jedi, the Force and Anakin equally with the prequels.

I've been surprised over the years how stingy Star Wars has been with interviews and other special features on their home video releases. I guess they believe the movies are going to sell any way, so why bother loading up them up.

Yoda's been the lone hero on home video before.

re: Star Wars

Maybe it's a subtle hint about what we'll learn Yoda is REALLY like in the new movies. After all, he was kind of an ass in the prequels when it came to anything dealing with Anakin.

re: Star Wars

Do people think Yoda will be resurrected in the new movies (Force Awakens, etc.) or there will be flashbacks?

At least with those covers they sort of worked aside from the Storm Trooper on The Empire Strikes Back. The villains chosen are oddities for covers on the new Blu-ray sets. Maul and Vader fit the best all the others seem chosen at random.

I don't think we'll see him in The Force Awakens, but I think we'll see his Force ghost when Luke becomes a Force ghost (most likely in Episode IX).

He doesn't have a dick. His species only have a cloaca.

How important was Yoda in Return of the Jedi, though? Even that seems odd.

Preorders are up on Amazon. $25 a pop. I guess they are not selling a steelbook box set? So you don't get the bonus disc?

I guess to me it kind of ties in with the title. Luke would make more sense to be the prominent face on the cover, but Yoda being a Jedi Master and the one who trained Luke so the Jedi could return makes sense to me why he represents Return of the Jedi. Its a bit of a stretch but I think it kind of works.

I bought that set from K-Mart in the 90's but never opened it.
