I don't think it's that limited. It's showing available at every Best Buy around me except for one store.

Just sold my Breaking Bad complete series UV code for $30. Helped offset the cost some more.

Starting to wonder if maybe this has in fact gone OOP. B&N.com no longer has it either, and they did this past weekend. Only the 3rd Party pirates have it listed at $700+.

The liner notes in the barrel by Vince Gilligan are specifically written mentioning the special packaging.

If and I say if this gets released again in "normal" packaging, it would be a shame to dump that.

My local Costco had a couple of these sets today for $179.99. I love the cool packaging but I just can't part with near $200 after tax for even a TV series that I loved. I will just wait for the normal price drops. Yeah, it may not be the cool barrel packaging but I don't know if that is worth an extra 100 bucks or more once the price does drop.

Re: Breaking Bad -- The Complete Series -- 11/26/13

Started watching some of the documentary last night.

It glances over seasons 1-4. More or less it was a quick recap of the show and it's origins.

The focal point of the documentary is the production of episodes 509 to 516. I watched through the making of 510. Really liked seeing how Cranston becomes Walt with the makeup and seeing him direct. He's a really cool director. Very open to feed back from the writers as the documentary showed.

The table read was also an interesting watch. It's interesting to see how intense the actors are reading the script in character not dressed up and casually sitting at the table with the cameras rolling.

how bout Gunn and Brandt just so emotional after wrapping a scene, especially Gunn? that was amazing and heartbreaking.

also, loved the final wrap on each of the actors and the gifts they got and stuff. seeing that was raw and cool.

Re: Breaking Bad -- The Complete Series -- 11/26/13

Just finished the documentary.

Wonderful documentary. Probably one of the best in-depth production documentaries for movies or TV.

So glad that Sony documented production of the final 8 episodes in this film. I'm glad that I saw it and own it.

Very interesting to see in the film that the series actually wrapped production during the flashback recreation scene with Walt and Jesse from the Pilot. That whole sequence was actually directed by Rian Johnson.

What an awesome group of actors and production staff who worked on this show. I really hope Vince Gilligan continues to have success as a TV Producer in the future.

If you're a Breaking Bad fan, you absolutely have to see this documentary. I'm sorry that most here probably won't because of the expense for set or already owning the individual sets.

Sony will either include it on the eventual reissue or it'll wind up on YouTube sooner or later.

It's curious how this was promoted for so long, then went OOP so quickly. You'd think they'd want this Out & Available for Christmas sales. A lost opportunity, IMO.

Re: Breaking Bad -- The Complete Series -- 11/26/13

I ordered one from Amazon.ca last week for about $200 USD, and I got the notification from UPS today that it was damaged during shipping and is being returned to Amazon. Of course, now it's out of stock online and I can't find it in any local stores either.

If anyone happens to find a local copy for around $200 or less, I'd happily cover the cost + shipping + a little extra for your time and effort. Just message me. Thanks.

i don't think it must be cheap to produce and therefore maybe they can't recoup?

I think that's it. They realized the production costs were way too high for such a highly engineered item, and they couldn't market at a reasonable price to break even. Thus, they just discontinued it while they redesign version 2.0.

There is a copy of the set on Ebay right now going for $325, with an hour left in the auction.

People are nuts!

Good news is that if you have buyer's remorse, Amazon is offering a $22 gift card if you want to trade it in.

That's usually my trigger point, but even after that, you will see the price go lower and lower, particularly during various one-day/flash sales. Anyone remember Alien Anthology? My only concern would be if it were a limited release, like a SteelBook, but that's not the case here.
Yeah, that's what I thought too. I ended up paying a lot more for this set than I wanted to and a lot more than I could have had I prepared a little better. But it's something I really wanted. Hopefully we will know by 1/15 is this is going to be reprinted, so I can return my set to BBY if it is ~~

Re: Breaking Bad -- The Complete Series -- 11/26/13

Just checked the Breaking Bad Store and they are sold out again of the barrels and they were selling them for full MSRP. They are taking pre-orders for another "limited" batch.

Amazon.com is still sold out too. They only have it through third party sellers selling it for double or triple the cost.
