Am I missing something about all this bridge talk? Are you guys referring to that first pic with the whole crew? I'm no huge Trek fan, but...who says that's even a bridge? All you can see is 6 people, some white support beams and some glass/blue light. That could be the bathroom of a Starbucks for all you know

It's the bridge from another angle, there's another pic that shows the captain's chair, with other stations.

And the dude in blue is McCoy.

I'm a little puzzled at all the fuss about the new actors not "looking" like the old ones. What will matter is when the movie rolls, if they can "be" the character.
It brings to mind the nonsense some years back (I just realized The Phantom Menace will be ten years old next May) about digitally pasting Sir Alec Guiness' face on a younger actor for Obi Wan in the prequels, but then Ewan got in there and knocked it out of the park. Even PT haters usually acknowledge how well he captured Obi Wan. If these new guys can do that half as well, then the characterizations are not going to be a problem.

It's a reboot so I don't think everyone is suppose to look EXACTLY like their counterpart.
This is a reinvention and I don't believe you can have a bridge that looks the same or similar to the Bridge that existed 40 years ago too.

I'm sorry but that's different. As revered as he is for playing obi-won, Alec had what? not even two hours of screen time over the whole trilogy? How many hours have we spent with these characters? We've watched them grow and age over the course of over two decades. Everyone keeps saying its a reboot. Well no reboot has ever faced this big of a challenge. Batman a reboot? The movies aren't even the original source material and like someone mentioned before there have been several actors to play him.

I'm not saying that it can't or won't work but this has to be the single biggest "reboot" "reimagining" ever. A lot of people have spent countless hours with these characters and when you have followed them for this long it is really hard to separate them from the actors that brought them to life.

stu: I'm fairly sure that's the bridge. Directly behind them appears to be the viewscreen, as the top says "Warp Factor:"

Just saw the article in the recent Entertainment Weekly magazine. The bridge looks like they are in an Apple store. It's even described as that in the article.

Can someone tell me who's who? Smith's wife as Uhura on the right. Balding in red, Scotty? Blue shirt.. looks like Joey from friends . Non-distinctive asian as Sulu in the back.

Is the actor playing Spock the same guy who does Sylar in Heroes?
Also, maybe it's just the angle, but Spock has a honker of a nose in those photos.

I believe it's L to R:

Chekov, Kirk, Scotty, Bones, Sulu, and Uhura(NOT Jada Smith BTW)

As mentioned but not in the 1st pic: Spock

As far as young Spock's nose, I'd say both actor's noses are pretty close.

I like that the uniforms are closer to the series' tunics with the Starfleet insignia imprinted on them.

I wonder how Simon Pegg will do as Scotty since the only serious role I could find him in was Mission: Impossible III and even then he had jokes. Although in the picture, he looks seriously irked.

I also wonder if John Cho will rise above his Harold status and also come as believable serious.

Hmmm. Abrams did a good job at reigniting Mission: Impossible...I know he won't fail at Star Trek but still the doubt remains when two comedic actors take on such iconic roles.

I'm not really any kind of Star Trek fan, I thought the next-generation movies were pretty well done...But I'm definitely seeing this movie, it seems like it will be cool.

The new trailer is scheduled to debut before Quantum of Solace this weekend.

Does anyone know how long does a new trailer typically take to make it to official trailer sites (like apple.com)?

Please tell me that is meant to be an inbetween ship from TOS and the movie era. If it's meant to be an alternative universe ship then bad-ass, but you better not be messing with the 1701/A from the movies. That is probably the best ship over the 40 years!

Are those two links from Damned the reviews or do they contain clips?

Sounds like utter shit.

Trying to wrap my head around
Spoiler:
Scotty, McCoy, Sulu, Chekov(!), and Uhura serving under Pike on the Enterprise before Kirk even entered the Academy. This just makes no fucking sense whatsoever. Even if this film is supposed to be a cold reboot, it just doesn't seem believable on any level. On a practical level, how did these people -- supposedly serving on the finest ship in the fleet -- never get a promotion? How does Kirk go from a punk kid to a starship captain while Chekov remains an Ensign? And on an aesthetic level, it's a bit too precious to have all of these people serving on the same ship in the prequel.

If they want to do a cold reboot, fine. I can live with that. But it seems like they're trying to toe a line between making it an in-continuity prequel and a

reboot, and I think they're going to fail miserably.

This turd is going to make The Phantom Menace look like 2001 A Space Odyssey.

It's change for change's sake, and it looks stupid.

Think it looks great. Enough change but not too much. You can't change this iconic ship too much.
