First, I would expect the shipyard to be much more expansive than that, and second, in the later shot of him on the motorcycle, he appears to be driving away from whatever those structures are. But again, we are all just speculating here.

Oh man that was funny.

Hearing that theme music again made me realize just how much it sounds like Mega Man X music. Or the other way around...

Is there supposed to be any kind of continuity with the Bond films?

Considering that the franchise has been around for about fifty years, and they've gone through six actors, it kind of stretches credibility that Sean Connery from "Dr No" is supposed to be the same person Pierce Brosnan played in "Goldeneye."

I've always sort of gotten the impression that each Bond film is supposed to more or less stand on its own and not be a part of a larger arc.

Or that each "actor" is a different James Bond, and that "James Bond" is sort of like an identity that different unnamed secret agents play for a certain amount of time. (I've always sort of wanted to see a Bond movie where the current Bond visits a tropical island where all of the other retired James Bonds live -- Connery, Moore, Lazenby, Dalton, etc.)

I always thought of it like a sliding timeline of sorts..kinda like in the comic books how it's 40 yrs. of stories but still the same slowly aging character.

That is absolutely hilarious. It kind of helps the argument that they are trying too hard to make star trek "cool".

I'd love to see one with the top gun theme.

Both the Moore and Dalton Bond referred to their wife's death, so I don't subscribe to this theory.

In regards to Star Trek, Bond, or any rebooted franchise, I tend to prefer it when the creative team tries to maintain continuity with the rest of the series. When they "reboot" (man I hate that term), it comes across to me like they're ashamed of the series' legacy and want to pretend like it never happened. I feel you can always try to make a good movie rather than rely on the reboot gimmick, but rebooting is easier and lazier.

They actually hinted at this in the latest movie, when Bond automatically assumes that Mathis is a code name.

My theory is that Bond is a Time Lord.

But in the case of both Bond and Star Trek, you've got issues with how long the series has existed.

1970s "future tech" looks...well, fucking ridiculous today. And a 30-something agent with a 40-year history has to either age or stay in a relative time while the rest of the world marches on.

These characters NEED to be revamped and updated to reflect the world they exist in. They did when they were created, so that should continue.

I think it's dumb to reboot something like "The Goonies" or "Footloose", since those films stand alone and do not need to be revisited. But keeping a series going for decades...that has to be a bit more flexible.

I have seen the trailer twice at the theater, 4 times on tv and several times online and each time it sounds like the kid is saying the letter "S" instead of "T" in Kirk's middle name. Every person I have talked to hears it the same way.

Then you and your friends should consider limiting the volume on your MP3 players before you do any more damage.

I hear Siberious, but I can see like others mentioned the mouthing of Tiberious..it's just the kid's voice that makes it sound like Siberious.

It doesn't really matter what anyone thought they heard or didn't hear. I don't get why so many people think that, because they hear something a certain way, that it must have happened that way. The filmmakers didn't change his name. He's still James Tiberius Kirk.
