How many trailers can they put out for one damned movie?

My nearest Imax theater is already sold out of the first midnight showing on 7/17/08. Sheesh! So, I pre-bought a ticket for the opening midnight showing at the nearest non-Imax theater. I'll see it on Imax that weekend, as well.
The marketing on TV has been quietly relentless, I see at least one 30-second TDK commercial for every hour of TV I happen to watch these days, and typically the marketing push is usually just for the week before the opening Friday night of a new release, not 3-4 full weeks before it debuts.

They don't make that public until the weekend of release.

I imagine execs will be disappointed if it makes less than $75MM in the opening weekend. Expectations are probably around $100MM.
I still believe this movie is sort of an internet phenomenon. I think regular audiences aren't as excited for it, although by no means am I predicting it's going to flop or anything. I just don't see it breaking records. I'll probably be wrong though.

Pulled from IMDB via WENN.
Batman star Christian Bale has declared he will quit the comic book movie franchise if producers ever decide to reintroduce the caped crusader's sidekick Robin.
Bale took on the role of the legendary action hero in 2005's Batman Begins and will be seen again in The Dark Knight, which is due for release later this month.
But the actor is hoping that the character of Robin is not brought back into any of future Batman movies - because he will resign in protest.
He says, "If Robin crops up in one of the new Batman films, I'll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work."

Interesting. Doesn't want to share screen time? With how well Nolan has handled every other character, I'm sure he could handle Robin, or maybe even just a Grayson cameo. Seems petty on Bale's part to me.

I agree with you.

Sounds like idle chatter being blown into a real news story, that said, good for him ... I probably would do that same, haha.

If Nolan leaves, which is sounding like a huge possibility, I wouldn't want to see Robin either.

Interesting tidbit:
Ledger's performance in the Batman tale "The Dark Knight" is so remarkable that next Jan. 22, the one-year anniversary of his death, he could become just the seventh actor in Oscar history to earn a posthumous nomination.

Creepy, with the Oscars falling on the anniversary of his death.
As far as Robin, I like the character so it would be interesting to see how he would be handled. It looks like Bale was having fun with the answer. But if he dislikes Robin, then theres 0 chance of him in JLA.
Edit: Just thinking, if they added Robin, it would be funny to have Bale cuss him out all the time like All Star Batman

I run a movie theatre; the only film that everyone asks me about is The Dark Knight. Young men, old women, teens, kids, hot ladies, ugly fanboys, everyone wants to see this film.

I love the portrayal of the Joker in this movie, from the looks of the trailers and TV spots. He tries to get Batman to kill him, and he tortures and plays with Harvey Dent and tries to get him to snap and go corrupt. I almost think Dent is taking the place of Gordon in the Killing Joke saga from the comics.
