It was the last phase of the viral marketing. I was fortunate enough to be browsing SHH when the news broke and snagged a couple of free tickets to the local IMAX.
As of tonight, HBO has also started airing a new 15-minute promotional special on the film. Quite a bit of new footage scattered throughout, though no major spoilers.

I got a creepy-ass email from "The Joker" last night regarding this and I immediately went on-line. I soon as I saw what it was, I nearly wet myself, and proceeded to order the tix... only to find out they weren't having a screening anywhere near Philly. Pittsburgh?! REALLY?!

Ha, fair enough. And here I thought the Joker would be drawn to our 300+ murders a year. Once the rap game comes up with a violence-related nickname for you (Killadelphia - an easy pitch to hit, sure, but still...) and the Joker DOESN'T consider your city shitty enough to hold a screening? Well, I'm offended, sir...

You are shallow, Sir. Rent Batman Forever, Spider-Man 3, laugh your head off, take some children's Tylonol PM and go to bed.

"Call me shallow, but I wish it were a little more fun." Isn't that why Warner got Joel Schumacher to switch the franchise after Batman Returns? We all know how that turned out. I think what some don't understand is, Batman is not going to be Spider-Man or X-Men. When they try to go kid-friendly and such, it was just plain silly (Batman Forever) to downright awful (Batman & Robin).
This is a dark character. Now, could this movie be too dark? Absolutely. But I want my Batman dark and moody. I don't want him cracking jokes or smiling. I don't want bright neon lights. And no bat nipples!
Also, it seems as if he (David Ansen) preferred Burton's Batman and that was his criticism. This isn't the same franchise as the last one. Nolan was never about stylizing Gotham City. He was about story and as much realism as possible (about a character who fights crime dressed as a bat). If he doesn't like that approach, that's fine. But say so.

Meanwhile, Christy Lemire (A GIRL, Ghasp!) over at AP is lamenting that it's not longer.

I'm currently on a job hunt, so when I got the email from "Human Resources" entitled "Last Laugh," I thought one of the places I applied to was mocking me!
I darned Joker for that one!

Edited to add: The youtube links still work. But don't bother downloading the megaupload file. On the next page, AndyCleveland reported that "i just wasted time downloading and it is just taken with a video camera off of an HDTV."

It's a mixed review, not necessarily a negative. He will likely mark it as fresh, not that it matters, as it's still mostly positive, he just wanted more whimsy.

Turns out the second "wave" of figures with the alternate head is just a variant. So there's two of these floating around. That chemical rumor was just that - a rumor. These should start showing up in stores again, the problem is scalpers trying to profit off of Ledger's death.
The newest rumor surrounding the movie masters is that the regular Batman and thug from TDK will be harder to find - so to compensate in the mean time the BB Batman and Scarecrow have been released.

I just received a phone call with lots of overlapping messages about Gotham City traffic, news, what sounded like a hostage, etc. and it all ended with the Joker's laugh. Pretty cool.

They sell them, but they're just as rare there as they are at Toys R Us or Wal Mart. You have to hit it at the right time.

The one that I bought yesterday was the first one pictured. I saw the Scarecrow figure, and I should have bought it while I had the chance. I was in the same WalMart today, and all of them were already gone.
