Wow...what a fucking amazing movie! It's going to take a while to digest everything. Heath was definitely as advertised. He was absolutely riveting. Bale was awesome as well as Eckhart and Oldman. I can't wait to see it again. Did anyone stay for the tribute? It completely slipped my mind.

Couldnt have asked for a better experience. What a night, and what a film. The Ledger tribute was nice at the end, but brief. He owned this movie. I simply couldnt take my eyes off him.

Seeing it again tonight at 9:55

I want to avoid a gushing post that basically says what everyone else is. But it's what I feel. My god. I've never felt my heart racing as a movie was STARTING. Like most of you, I've followed each development since the release of Begins. The reality that I was actually seeing this movie didn't settle in right away.

Ledger's performance, in a word, was flawless. I never once thought, "Hey, that's Heath Ledger." He WAS the Joker. From the big picture to the last nuance, Ledger nailed it. Even the way he would smack his lips as he spoke at times seemed purposeful.

I've got so much more I can say, but I'll limit it to:

- The pencil magic trick was one of the most out-of-nowhere surprises I can recall. The entire theater was just like, "WOW!"

- I'm interested to see how they take things from here, as you'll assume there is going to be a third installment. We speculated on what might be, but what plays out in TDK tables those possibilities.

Oh and we stuck around for this tribute, but got nothing. Was it after the credits or what?

I read another forum where someone said there wasn't a tribute after the credits. We might have a situation where not all prints were the same. Kind of like Darth Maul not being cut in half in some Phantom Menace prints.

The tribute wasn't before or after the credits, it was during.

You know how most credits begin with fades, then switch to scrolling from bottom to top? It was at about that switching point, or was the switching point.

It read:

In Memory Of Our Friends
HEATH LEDGER
&
CONWAY WICKLIFFE

BEST cinematic experience I've ever had....I have a new all-time favorite film hands down.

I cannot get Zimmer's theme for the Joker out of my head.

Fabulous movie.

Is there any inkling for the Mike Angle (Anthony Michael Hall) character to show up in a villanous capacity for the next film?

I had expectations that were too high ... and they were surpassed. I went with a friend who did not like Batman Begins, and he LOVED Dark Knight. Some minor quibbles, but overall, SOLID.

Or that his eyeball is perfectly okay, while the eyelid was burnt right off
Or that he's not drooling.

Awesome movie.
Not sure if I want to see again so soon. Maybe next week...

Edit: Oh, and did anybody else recogize Bat-Manuel? A bit too much eyeliner. It really stands out in Imax.

The more I think of it, the more I like the idea of the Bat-Sonar/Cell phone energy. I was a little tired and didn't think much of during my midnight viewing, but it was nice touch given the Bat-motif at play (as to how bats navigate in darkness).

Bats? No...no talk of bats here. Submarines!

I'm at work with three hours of sleep, but it was worth it. Best movie of the year. It never felt like a comic book movie, it felt like a crime drama...a great one at that. If the Oscars want to feel more relevant and interesting this year they'll give it a nomination. Ledger was phenominal, but I think Gary Oldman deserves a little more praise for bringing in a strong human element.

I didn't like the sonar concept. Reminded me too much of Daredevil. I like Batman when he uses his brain and instinct. When he uses devices, it makes it less bad ass.

I think I might be too critical of this movie because I loved Begins. Some of the moments were just "WTF?"

Spoiler:

-Bus at the bank just blending in smoothly with other buses. I also like how no one cared that the bus just backed up from the bank.

- Comissioner Gordon not telling his wife that he was going to fake his death.

- Cops trapping Joker during Dent's transfer and getting killed. Are they really that inept when they are the ones setting the trap?

- Chinese kidnapping. WOW, that's a lot of logistics that needs to be cleared to have a succesful mission. I know Wayne has connections but getting picked up by a big ass plane is just too much.

- Dent's transformation was too fast. Based on the way they portrayed him, he would have gone after the Joker, not his allies.

- Dent punching the guy at the stand for trying to assasinate him. He didn't even flinch and seemed to already know the gun wasn't going to work. Maybe it was Eckhart's performance that made it look like a stage play.

Overall it seemed like Nolan tried too hard to make it realistic and in doing so it became nonsense.

Watched it last night, very amazing movie. Did not feel like it was two hours at all, and as for a third installment, I love how the movie kind of put it up in the air.

Spoiler:

-The Gordon faking his death bit. Anyone who'd seen the trailers or tv spots knew better, and his return just rang false to me. A summer movie moment that wasn't needed.

-The fact that neither boat tried to blow the other to hell. Again, Nolan is tossing the audience a bone that he wouldn't be tossing if this weren't a $180M production. Call me a cynic, but if a single civilian were on that boat with her child, she's pushing the button on the convicts in a second.

-The sonar. The final confrontation was a dull video game until Joker sics the dogs. Though you can't help but love J's low-tech solutions to Batman's sophisticated body armor and gadgets.

I would've also liked to see some fear gas hallucinations when Scarecrow made his cameo, but I guess Nolan felt that those only belonged in the first film.

In the end, all those criticisms mean is that TDK isn't as good as the Godfather. If that's the worst I can say about a Batman film, I can live with it.

So... any complaints about Batman's fighting skills and the way those scenes were shot? The only complaint I had was that Bale's big downward punches seemed to take too long to land on the bad guys' heads.

That's what I was thinking too. They didn't have quick cuts and you can tell Bale had a hard time moving with the suit. Now I know why they cut the hell of the fight scenes in the first movie -which I liked better because it made Batman more mysterious.
