Given Stevenson is playing the main villain (since this'll be mainly a Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow adventure), I'm sure he'll appear far more than he did in Thor.

Hmmm, that's interesting if true. So i guess Destro and Cobra Commander will he like Blofeld behind the scene villains. I wonder who will be the other main villains that tag along with Firefly and Stormshadow - it would be awesome if it was Zartan & Dreadnocks and Scrap Iron.

While it's been informally reported numerous times that Tatum would return to reprise his role as Duke, considering that the director of the movie itself is acknowledging him as Duke, consider Tatum's return confirmed.
It also seems Park is quite pleased with his new suit, as he tweeted the following:
Fitting was fun the other day. It's gonna look awesome! Can't wait!!

Well Duke wasn't even the leader in the first film. Heavy Duty was the leader directly under General Hawk. Duke's just the main character.
I can't wait to see the new Snake Eyes costume. Ray Park wears several different costumes during the course of the first film (usually in the background since the director was fighting with a producer that didn't want Snake Eyes to wear a mask) until they settled on the final "hero" costume. Ray Park hated that costume because he said it felt like wearing a rubber band.
So it'll be interesting see a more functional suit that wont restric his movements so much.

There's been no word yet from Channing's representatives about why he has specifically shaved his head, but he has confirmed that he's set for the new GI Joe.
As for why he is bald, it's anyone's guess. Interestingly enough, the article also states that Sienna Miller will return:

Nichols sounded like she wanted to do it (from a radio interview a couple months ago), but they just didn't include the character. I wish they included her.

Yeah, I remember that. It's also when she announced that only Duke, Snake Eyes, and Storm Shadow were returning. Hopefully, Sienna Miller being in this is a sign that plans have changed since then.

I don't think Firefly is going to be the main bad-guy. More likely a Boba Fett sized role. I expect a recast Cobra commander... I mean they need him as a character of they got nothing.

In the comics, Firefly was hired by Cobra Commander to kill Snake Eyes. He realized that he was no match for Snake Eyes so he passed the contract onto Zartan. Zartan accidentally killed the Hard Master instead (using a remote controlled arrow).
I'm betting for the movie things will be switched around and it'll be Firefly who personally killed the Hard Master and Firefly'll be someone who Zartan hires to deal with the Joes.
The only thing I wonder is, since we got M.A.R.S. in the first film, if we'll get H.I.S.S. in the sequel.

I went up for “G.I Joe 2″ this week. Now firstly, I believe they’ve changed the name of the film from “G.I Joe 2 : Coba Strikes” to “G.I Joe 2 : Retaliation”.
The part I was chasing was Ibrahim, a presidential advisor to India’s leader. He tries to talk the president out of getting involved in a very suss rescue mission and consequently backing up the united states on something… that might not be totally legit.
And we all know who the president is now, right? Who is running the country? Zartan, played by Arnold Vosloo. He’s got the world leaders all under his thumb, war heads headed towards innocent populaces, and some new heavies on the payroll to keep G.I Joe at bay.
One of the first scenes to be shot is a flashback sequence with young Storm Shadow and young Snake Eyes which will cronicle how they became what they are and their relationship. Those parts have already been cast I think now they’re just working on the smaller roles – presidents of every country; security guards; ‘Mouse’, etc.

Joe Mazzello cast as Mouse
Joe Mazzello has been set to play the role of Mouse in G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes, a role a lot of young guys wanted in the Jon M. Chu-directed Paramount film that stars Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki and Ray Stevenson. Mazzello, the kid in the original Jurassic Park, most recently costarred in the Emmy-winning HBO miniseries The Pacific and was last seen in The Social Network. He also costarred in Josh Schwartz's ABC pilot Georgetown.

Collider.com has confirmed the new title change and says Paramount has moved G.I. Joe 2 into the June 29, 2012 release slot, which was occupied by Star Trek 2. But that won't start production until January '11, so it won't be out until late 2012, but more likely Summer 2013.
