Unless there is a Huge difference between website/blogger reviews to bigger pubs I agree this will be the best reviewed 'blockbuster'

i have a feeling, based on word of mouth, that this will crack $200 million easily. maybe even hit $250 million.

Reading some first hand reviews from non comic book fans that were curious about a talking raccoon and how much fun the movie was. I think the WOM on this is going to be bananas

I think this is going to be a blast, but am guessing it's going to be subpar at the box office for Marvel. No stars beyond voice talent, no known property and I've had several non-geek friends make unprompted comments about how stupid it looks. I hope I'm wrong, but won't be surprised if it's at the low end of this summer's blockbusters.

Probably depends on what your point of reference is for "subpar." As discussed earlier with others predicting financial disappointment, I'd be surprised if Marvel was estimating anything significantly higher then say the first Thor or Captain America level.

That's why I think this movie won't do as well as people are saying on the internet. If there is one thing we learned excitement on the internet doesn't equal excitement from mainstream audiences.

ummmm...sometimes you just get a feeling based on my likes and dislikes and the footage i've seen and heard. that is what making a "call" is, i thought. plus, i think i am due for a really kick-ass, blow me away action movie with heart and soul throughout...

It's Marvel, when was the last time excitement for a Marvel movie didn't equal excitement from Mainstream audiences?

I didn't know who these characters were before I saw the free 17-minute preview and I freaking loved every second of that. It really did a tremendous job of giving you an idea as to the tone of the film. I for one think this is going to do huge numbers eventually. Maybe not opening weekend, but I can see word of mouth giving it staying power thru the whole month of August.
