Should have killed him off in ROTJ or left the action scenes to the young actors.

Bummer for Ford. Any mobility injury at his age has got to be the pits.

Hmm, maybe Episode VII is turning out to be "The Scottish Play" of the Star Wars saga.

Glad to see it's not anything more serious. I bet you whomever was responsible for that door got their ass chewed out (if they're still even working on the movie). Hopefully, it won't affect the amount that Harrison is in the movie.

What action scene? A door closed on him, he could have been there just talking at the time.

Exactly, way too much to expect of a 71 year-old pothead.

Ford was at Pinewood studios in England when a hydraulic door reportedly fell down and hit him, possibly fracturing his ankle.
I guess that's one downside of practical sets.

DH says its a fracture:
"It’s not as bad as what’s being reported, I’m told, but Ford has a fractured ankle. This is a painful break for him, and a tough break for the movie, because he’s such an integral part of the plot."

Had to be one of his first days too... I imagine it'll take a few wks to be on his feet again.

Man this gives me a sinking feeling in my gut. Hopefully they can film other stuff or use Ford for scenes that don't require a lot from him. Or maybe they can just halt production, wait for him to heal and take the cost on the chin knowing in all likelyhood this will probably be the highest grossing film of alltime.

That "no" scream is the sole reason I've held back on buying the Star Wars Blu-ray set.
There were a lot of reasons I didn't want to buy the Blu-ray of the original trilogy, but the added Vader "noooooo" at the end of Return of the Jedi was the straw that broke the camel's back for me with that set. To me that just seemed like a huge fuck you to the fans from Lucas. He knew that was something that was criticized and parodied to death when he first did it in Revenge of the Sith and to place it in to the climax of that scene was just terrible.

Honestly, I have no sympathy for the man. He whined a while back about fans giving him a hard time when he creates his own issues by being so damn stubborn to not release the original versions of the original trilogy. Literally all he'd have to do is give the okay for the originals to be released alongside whatever version he decides is definitive at the time the newest version of the films hits whatever format and I and a lot of others would be satisfied.

The blu-ray case with little Annie is the sole reason I've held off buying the set. That and the high price.

Out of all the creative choices made for this series of films, I honestly don't get the fixation on that element being that horrendous.

And I thought people would have learned their lesson about elderly (or at least aged) actors trying to recapture past glory with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The Han Solo that I would logically expect to see after 30+ years is in no way the Han Solo that I loved in his prime. Especially not the way he was neutered in the last film.

On the other hand, Stallone did very well as an older Rocky and Rambo in the last movies.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I wouldn't necessarily write off an older Han Solo, especially since the people that made Indy IV aren't the same people making Episode VII.

Well like I said when the Vader "nooooooo" line first happened it was highly criticized and to put it in what is a pretty pivotal moment in the series was just insulting on Lucas' part if you ask me.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015, D: Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fisher, Serkis, von Syd

I haven't seen the Rambo movie, but one reason Balboa worked (IMO) was that it was primarily a character study about the way time changed and didn't change the character.
Any SW film, that is trying to emulate the best ones in the series, is going to be more plot driven. The characters are going to be there more to serve the plot not the other way around.

I was of the opinion that any 2000 era Indiana Jones film should have had to make drastic changes to the paradigm due to the character's age. A non-action heavy character study would have been very interesting to me to see. Or, something like a quasi-detective movie (with some archeological relic serving as the mcguffin) would have been a logical fit for an almost 70 year old lead.
But an action movie just because that's what everyone associated with the character 30 years earlier? So foolish.

I always 'put up' with the Special Edition changes from 1997 until Lucas made that change. I used to love the 1983 version as old man Anakin was looking upon his son, and Luke walks away from the force ghosts and gives them a quick wink and then joins his friends. PERFECT ENDING!

When I saw that in the 2004 DVD's, that is when Lucas lost me in any defense of his special edition changes. This had nothing to do with what technology didn't allow him in 1977-83, this was just a man who was tampering with great movies.

Access Hollywood spoke to Ford's son Ben about the accident. Seems they may have to put a plate and screws in his ankle. He also thinks the crew might have to work around the injury and film his dad from the waist up for a little while.

There isn't any viable reason to whine about the changes. The discs have seamless branching which allows you to watch either version because they remastered them both in 4K. Oh, wait, that's right....

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015, D: Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fisher, Serkis, von Syd

The injury Harrison Ford sustained on the set of “Star Wars Episode VII” could bench the actor for up to eight weeks, according to reports.

Ford was injured after the hydraulic door of the Millennium Falcon reportedly fell and hit him on the “Star Wars” set at Pinewood Studios in England last Thursday, breaking his ankle. The actor was airlifted to hospital shortly thereafter. Thanks to the film’s ensemble cast, shooting is set to continue and “Episode VII” is expected to stay on schedule for its December 18, 2015 release.

Ford is reprising his iconic role as Han Solo in the “Star Wars” sequel, alongside fellow original cast members Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill and franchise newcomers including Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver. J.J. Abrams is directing the film.

News of Ford’s “Star Wars” break was first reported by British newspaper The Mirror.
