Considering there will be another SDCC before the film gets released, not surprised they aren't going to 2014's SDCC. Besides, does anyone need to convince a SDCC attendee that they should go see a new Star Wars movie starring the original three?

Plus there's a Star Wars Celebration convention in April of 2015.

Another female joins the cast: Christina Chong (who I remember from the Doctor Who episode "A Good Man Goes to War").

https://movies.yahoo.com/news/star-w...192640775.html

Her part is described as minor, but she also happens to practice parkour (like the previously announced Pip Andersen). Maybe the role will involve some stunt work.

Meh. Abrams just took Star Trek and made it more mainstream friendly. It revived the brand but I don't think he's the savior of it truthfully. Star Trek was always distinctly different from Star Wars now they're both kind of the same thing. I like the first film Abrams' did alright for what it is but really don't like Into Darkness at all.

I love Billy Dee Williams as Lando, but I saw him on Arsenio Hall a few months back and he sounded punchdrunk. He was very slow in his speech, and he would look like a sad Lando if they shoehorned him in there. Say what you want about Harrison Ford and being old, he still has that screen presense that he had when he was younger.

And Arsenio did ask him about returing for Episode 7 and Billy Dee said he hasn't been asked yet.

^^ Agreed. He was on Modern Family too and looked like hell. They'd have to bring back Lucas' CGI team to fix'em up.

BDW has a voice part on the Rebels show.

I think both JJ's Treks were entertaining and had great special effects. But the writing was shit in both.

A friend interviewed him at a local con and said he was very gracious and cool, but very old and frail (walked very slowly with a cane).

she was also in 24: Live Another Day (mostly in the background at CIA HQ, and I don't remember any speaking parts).

I'm afraid we're about 10yrs too late for BDW... I could see a small cameo maybe, but he's in his 80's now... that doesn't mean his life's over or anything...he appears to be in good spirits and happy... but his appearance/movement is just too far removed from 30+yrs ago, it just wouldn't work for any extended length of time onscreen imo. Even with Ford, while he's still got that charm and a spark to him...it's just not going to be the same. It's still going to take some careful direction and editing to even make it work.

Ideally this would've happened years ago, but we're just fortunate to have one last appearance from the cast at this point. (I expect Hamill to be around forever, even when he's killed on screen, they'll bring him back as force ghost every chance they can imo, lol)

This guy claims a severed hand (Luke's) gripping a lightsaber falls out of the sky on Tatooine. Daisy and Boyega find it and give it to Han and Chewie who aren't flying the Falcon anymore.

Yeah, sounds like bullshit. I'd be surprised if Han and Leia never got married or had a kid.

I agree it sounds like bullshit but remember that the new films are based on treatments from George Lucas. If the prequels have proven anything it is that stupid isn't out of the question.

God, that sounds ridiculous. Luke's missing lightsaber being a catalyst for something in the plot is an interesting idea -- but how the hell would a hand that was severed over Bespin fall out of the sky on Tatooine? And it hasn't decomposed? To the point that it can still be clutching a lightsaber 35 years later?

Besides, I find it doubtful that Daisy Ridley is not playing Han and Leia's daughter. Even if she is, that would make the idea of her uncle's hand randomly falling through space and landing in her vicinity ever more improbable (almost as improbable as Vader building Threepio and Luke randomly intercepting a distress call from his sister). But, wait... it's the will of the Force. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I dunno. Sounds too stupid to be fanfic, so it might be legit.

If it is supposed to be Luke's severed hand from TESB, then how did it get from Bespin to Tattooine? Thirty years in space at sublight travel isn't going to get it out of a single star system, never mind the huge coincidence of making it to Luke's homeworld. And why didn't it burn up on entry into the atmosphere? And how did it get from Bespin (presumably a gas giant) into space? Bespin's gravity would pull it toward the planet, not eject it into space at escape velocity.

Unless we are to presume that the hand was recovered, saved for thirty years, and left at Tattoine... Which is still really stupid.

Finding Luke's severed hand still gripping the lightsaber after all these years and on Tatooine of all places is beyond stupid if it's true. It would seem to make more sense that it's somewhere on Bespin. Like was mentioned though I don't even know what the surface of Bespin would be like or if people inhabit it. Either way for the hand and lightsaber to be found by someone related to Luke is a big stretch.

The big question though is the lighsaber still lit up or not when they find it? Jesus Fucking Christ I can't believe I just typed that.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015, D: Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fisher, Serkis, von Syd

The article mentions:
don't assume that every ice or desert planet in the galaxy has already been visited, if you know what I'm saying.
Which implies the desert planet in question is not Tatooine. Based on the leaked set photos, is their any doubt that Tatooine is not appearing in this movie? Granted, we didn't see any Jawas, Dewbacks or landspeeders... but the costumes, architecture (hell, even the moisture vaporators) scream Tatooine. Surely Abrams and Kasdan aren't so unoriginal that they would create a different planet with the exact same attributes.

If there was a hint of truth to this scenario, wouldn't it make much more sense for the hand to be found on the surface of Bespin? Boyega and Ridley could be gas miners, which would tie in nicely to the OT... and also create the perfect opportunity to squeeze Lando into the film. He could refer the pair to Han's whereabouts so they could return the lightsaber... which makes much more sense than what I'm reading here.

it doesn't say anywhere that it's Tatooine specifically... the lightsaber as a catalyst to finding Luke is a fine plot point... it all depends on how it's handled. I seriously doubt the opening shot of hte movie is Luke's Empire hand tumbling through space with an ignited lightsaber.

OK, but based on the two Abrams Star Trek films, the Star Wars prequels and the Special Editions of the original trilogy does anyone expect it to be handled well?

Hopefully it is all bullshit and the writer of the article is sitting behind a computer laughing at all of this.

I can't be worse than the prequels, and Abrams is shooting 35mm, so anything which keeps Kodak in business is alright with me. And ANYTHING will be worth it if it gets us a 4K remaster of the OOT. It won't, but still.
