I agree that it's cool to have someone, who got the access, to report a little of what they saw. I never knew about the different sizes of the cockpit for the MF. He seemed to report back pretty much what he was allowed to say. Real sets, real battle action. He's giving me a feeling for the movie that a lot of us felt was missing from the PT. I would rather hear about stuff like this rather than actual plot points. I want it to feel like a Star Wars movie first and foremost. The rest will take care of itself.

No no no no no no no
Harry Knowles is just... No. That wheelchaired fuck is just a nerd who gets too excited about everything. Even after its not as great as he wanted. He pretty much loves whatever he does and hates what doesn't tickle his fancy.

The Prequel Trilogy looks nothing like the Originals, as they literally look like 2 different sets of movies that happened to be in the same universe. Now I am not debating which is the better way to go, as CGI vs Real Locations is all opinion. The point is the OT was shot in Tunisia (Tatooine), Norway (Hoth) and Southern California (Endor), where the PT are mostly CGI locations (Kamino, Geonosis, Mustafar, Coruscant) and they look nothing alike when you watch them as 1 Saga.
Instead, we're now just brainwashed to the fact that actors can't act for shit in front of a greenscreen compared to the real enviroments of the OT.

I was even going to ask how it differs from most of the people who post here.
The bottom line for me is that, if someone who shares my Star Wars nerdism sees the Episode VII sets, characters, props and footage, and says they are everything we could hope for, I'm going to be excited by the news.

But what we should get excited about is - as have been the rumors - JJ DOES seem to be using as many practical sets and effects as he can. That alone should make this movie more fun to watch than the prequels, even if the storyline disappoints.

Unfortunately they'll have to CGI Harrison Ford's leg back in.

At least if the AT At Walkers are going to be practical like in the OOT they will still be slow. If they were going to make them CGI they would probably run as fast as a dog chasing a ball.
Even though I hate, loathe and despise what Abrams did with Star Trek I am getting more excited every day at the thought of new Star Wars...and that George is retired.
I want Kasdan to write a scene where a character yells out "no, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" and then another character slaps them on the back of the head and tells them to shut the fuck up.

Is it what many have said, 'the Star Trek film felt like a Star Wars film'? Which I guess if you are looking for traditional Trek, it sure wasn't it.

My biggest problem with JJTrek was the way Kirk went from a guy who became an awesome captain by working his way up through the ranks and having experiences that affected the way he makes decision, to a hero of destiny who was guaranteed to be an awesome captain because he's James T. Freaking Kirk. Completely different upbringing, different career path, different life experiences -- they don't make the slightest difference. Put him in the captain's chair and he automatically becomes awesome.
Which is entirely a Star Wars kind of thing to do, and antithetical to Star Trek which did numerous episodes across all its incarnations that stressed that people are the products of their experiences.

I don't hold allegiances to ST or SW. Both have more shit movies than good ones for me. Abrams saved ST from the pool of shit it fell in. SW hopefully can get a good movie out of this. I like that universe but holy fuck did Lucas go all hard shit in those films.

I totally missed the news that some scenes were being shot in IMAX - any one know if it's digital capture or 15/70 film stock?
Star Wars: Episode VII' is being shot in IMAX

The first thing Abrams did right with Star Trek is realize that the characters are bigger than the actors. That is to say, he knew William Shatner is not the only James T. Kirk. He realized there were two viable options: move on with new characters (been done) or recast. That said, I am so looking forward to what he can do with Star Wars ... Wait, what? Ah, fuck.
