I've never seen it but somebody give the gist of it. Is it like big making of doc for the OT?

Hopefully we'll also see the documentary on the prequel trilogy titled The Making of The Raping of Your Childhood.

The prequels did not damage my childhood. Now, the SEs, however....

Great, so we can see how all of the special effects were done and not actually watch them since they've all been painted over digitally . I wonder why it was in pieces? You'd think they'd have put it up as one piece, it seems to harken back to youtube's older days when everything had to be split up.

Yeah, the bad old days of the youtube 10-minute video limit.

Seems like they were just building up things. I just saw it mentioned at TFN after the last part was posted.

You're not old enough for the SEs to have raped your childhood.

I don't understand why this matters. The source is still VHS quality, so streaming it in 1080p is just a waste of bandwidth.

At any rate it's pretty cool and introduced the "deleted scene" to fans.

Movie of the weeks of course used them for Superman, Godfather etc, but seeing the human Jabba was pretty awesome when I was 12. Should have an action figure!

Given the number of times I watched the OOT on VHS before the SEs came out, age isn't the issue.

Besides, how do you know how old I am ?

This is the best summation of my Star Wars experience. Even though I can enjoy the prequels from time to time, the SE changes stand out so much it actually sullies my memories of watching the OT on VHS as a kid.

Pip Andersen and Crystal Clarke have been added to cast. They also said Ford will return to shooting and things are on track.

Snark aside, The Beginning (making of The Phantom Menace doc on the dvd) is one of the best special features I've ever seen and makes purchasing that movie totally worth it. I remember being pretty disappointed when Attack of the Clones didn't have a similar doc included.

Startlingly so. And Lucas is to be commended for releasing that candid a BTS look at the production- especially one that shows several of his biggest creative choices to be so wrongheaded (or at least, poor investments).

Kevin Smith talks about his Ep VII visit. Scroll to the 35 minute mark:

It's good to see that JJ is going to use real sets and locations, and this trilogy won't be loaded with CGI. I know many Prequel fans love CGI, but I detest it when there is an overuse of it like the Prequels had. The Prequels (with the exception of parts of Episode I) look like one big video game.

The ironic thing is the ST is going to match up better with the OT, as the PT will probably stick out like a sore thumb. I guess Disney can release a box set of the OOT + ST for one fanbase and the PT + OT/SE to the other fanbase?

I don't get why Kevin Smith matters... he's a super fan, so what? Exactly what contributions has he made to the SW universe? He should stick to talking about hockey sweaters.

He's always piped in on SW. I guess I just don't get why he gets any press or video clips over the fact that he's a fan.

He's basically a fanboy who got access to what most of us would give our left nut to have. You don't want to hear what he wants to say at the very least?

While one can argue that the original tweet/IG post was more attention calling than anything, I think this segment of this Q&A is a more sincere re-telling of his experience and I liked hearing about it.

He can provide insider access from a fan's perspective, which is rare in Hollywood's world of creative talent that hates most of the projects they produce.

Smith's opinion means absolutely nothing to me. Didn't Spielberg suck off Lucas' cock by singing the praises of The Phantom Menace before it came out? Friends will stand behind friends, no matter what.

I agree with you that all directors are in a fraternity and none of them are going to badmouth each other, especially if they're friends. But Kevin Smith wasn't giving his review of the movie before everyone saw it, it was more or less that JJ and Disney are going old school Star Wars, which the Prequels failed to do.

The Sequel Trilogy could still suck if the story isn't original or the characters don't click with the audience, but all Kevin Smith was saying that the Sequel Trilogy will ATLEAST look like the Original Trilogy.

The Prequel Trilogy looks nothing like the Originals, as they literally look like 2 different sets of movies that happened to be in the same universe. Now I am not debating which is the better way to go, as CGI vs Real Locations is all opinion. The point is the OT was shot in Tunisia (Tatooine), Norway (Hoth) and Southern California (Endor), where the PT are mostly CGI locations (Kamino, Geonosis, Mustafar, Coruscant) and they look nothing alike when you watch them as 1 Saga.

He's not giving his opinion on the movie which everybody knows isn't even close to completion. He's giving an account of what he saw and how it made him feel. Knowing that they replicated the inside of the Millenium Falcon doesn't matter to you in regards to this movie? Knowing that there's not as much green screen isn't interesting?

Is this what I sound like on the BvS threads? hahaha

That is the reason why I detest them so much. Especially the battle scenes. Too much nonsense for my eyes to make out.
