Not sure how I feel about the re-designs (if true), but the most important thing is that most of them are real people in costume.

Not only should there NOT be storm troopers in this movie, but that's a stupid, stupid design. If they even think they are going to tell us teh empire survived and thrived the last 20 years or so after THE DESTRUCTION of the emipre I'm going to be livid. WTF has been going on for the last 20 years??? It should have been a simple mop up effort. Jar Jar and a freakin' Ewok should have been able to take care of it after all the work Luke put in.

In the EU novels and comics (at least the early ones I read) the Empire still sort of existed, though it had balkanized into a number of small, unorganized territories.

What work? They killed two (admittedly important) leaders and destroyed a giant weapon. How would that make an entire Empire crumble when we learned in the first film that governors throughout the galaxy were given broader rights to rule their own territories? It's illogical.

Who the hell are they suppose to be in conflict with then? If there is no Empire, Empire offshoot, or some Empire generals who said fuck those rebels, then what's the point of the movie?

I'm sure a huge Science Fiction universe can come up with more antagonists than an oppressive empire. True, it would take imagination to come up with something new, so we probably won't see that.
