He showed up for one SDCC for C&A once if my memory serves me. He hard to interview, apparently he has bad anxiety problems. He's probably lucky he can still walk too, I can't imagine he'll be out and about if he doesn't need to be.

There's not really a demand for it in general.
Here's a little anecdote for you: I don't have any kids but I recently showed all 6 episodes to my 7-year-old nephew. When we were watching ROTJ my brother-in-law decided to sit on the couch alongside my nephew and me. He was more interested in browsing his iPad, but he was still somewhat following the movie.
During the Jedi Rocks scene he looks up and says "this wasn't always in the movie was it?" I explained that every time the Star Wars movies are re-released Lucas inevitably goes in and changes shit.
Now if the Internet was any indication he would have ejected the Blu-ray Disc from his PS4, snapped it in half and chastised me for hours for exposing his son to a bastardization of a treasured cultural heirloom before forcibly ejecting me from his home and banning me from any future contact, but you know what? He just went back to playing on his iPad. The same scenes he always enjoyed were still there. It still has the speeder bikes. All the throne room stuff. The ewoks were still there, for better or worse.
It was still Return of the Jedi to him, and I had no doubt that if he ever wanted to watch it he would accept the 2014 version, and he would certainly buy that version for his son if asked for a copy as a birthday or Christmas present.
That's how the overwhelming majority of people see the changed versions. It's easy to assume that all the passionate and angry nerds complaining online are just the tip of the iceberg but sometimes the tip of the iceberg is the whole iceberg.

I can say among my friends who are big SW fans (grew up with the OT), they will buy the OOT if it ever came out fully remastered, but they can live with the Special Editions. So they do prefer the OOT if they were asked to choose.
It's sort of strange catch 22 for the OOT, because most SW fans feel like my friends do where they would rather watch the OOT, but if the SE is the only thing that is released, its not going to stop them from watching it. As my one friend always says to me, "I really hate that they added Hayden as a force ghost, but it's only a few seconds so its not going to stop me from watching ROTJ."
As for younger fans who didn't grow up with the OOT, they are going to prefer the SE simply because they have most likely never seen the OOT versions. But ignorance is bliss so you really can't take their opinion at face value. When I was growing up and heard 'You Really Got Me' by Van Halen, I honestly thought they wrote that song and loved that version. I never realized that the Kinks wrote that song in the 1960's until I was in high school.
Ignorance is bliss for young kids in every generation......
As much as I was starting to get hyped about a possible new trailer this week, part of me is happy they may not release the next one til after the summer. We still have 5 months, so the real hype for the movie wont begin until after Labor Day. I believe they are releasing the toys the first week of September? Then probably a trailer to tie in that week?
I just remember the leadup to Episode I in the spring of 1999, and there was something on TV EVERYDAY about it. I even remember Entertainment Tonight had a countdown 60 days, 59 days, etc. I think once the summer movie season is over its all SW til December, so we just have to wait alittle bit longer!

Their HDTV is 40" and bigger than than their old 27" SDTV, and that's apparently the only thing they care about is that it's bigger. They apparently don't care about picture quality whatsoever.

Plus its not like Disney has to release the original Original Trilogy just by itself. Either package it in a box set with the special editions of the Original Trilogy or put it in some ultimate set with all the films. There's really no good reason to not put it out other than Lucas being stubborn.

LOL if they start pushing the OOT and then a whole new crowd starts bitching. The ones that only new the SE. "Where is my Jabba in the docking bay? Mos Eisley looks so boring. Why is Anakin some old guy. Ewoks sings stupidly. George just borrowed a pill from Bill Cosby......what's he doing.....MY CHILDHOOD!!!"

One thing that always got me was color timing. It's like Lucas just sat an experimented.
Episode I is the worst I think. It's like a neon dream.

Man, they are keeping the reveals on lockdown. The only new merchandise from The Force Awakens that Hasbro unveiled at Comic-Con is this 26" black series TIE fighter (with 6" pilot figure). $170 retail... ouch.

Also, while many people may have an HDTV, they may not actually be watching in HD. My parents are like that. They bought an HDTV two years ago, but they are still to this day still using their old SD Dish receiver. I have tried over and over again to tell them they need to call Dish and upgrade to an HD receiver, but it keeps falling on deaf ears.

As cool as that Tie Fighter from The Black Series is I don't think I've seen anything by Hasbro in that line that's worth nearly that much.

Stereotypically toy collectors have lazy asses where ass rape comes very easy anyway... so they're used to it.

Yeah I haven't been overly impressed with the line much at all to be honest. I like the scale of the figures and the fact that they're more articulated, but the actual sculpting and paint detail hasn't improved much from the old three and three quarter inch figures in my opinion.

That's ridiculous. Bad enough they wanted $20 for Yoda, now they want $170 for a vehicle!
At least it looks large enough to fit a 6" Tie Pilot.

It seems they just confirmed during the Comic-Con panel that there won't be a third trailer until the fall. They did show some behind the scenes footage, including Simon Pegg on set in Abu Dhabi.
The alien from the Force for Change video made an appearance on stage. His name is Bobba Joe:

Quotes from Ford:
It's a development of theme and it's a natural progression that has occurred from the stories that we told in the first three. Perhaps an emotional rounding of the experience that we all had in the first three films.
I never expected it would come back to bless me rather than haunt me. I never thought we would do another. I was very gratified when I read the script, because I read something that I thought was really remarkable. Really well written and with some really intriguing developments. So I was delighted to be involved and I was very happy to be a part of the story and the cast again.

That was just as good, if not better than a trailer. I don't even need to see anything til I'm in the theater in December.
