The only midnight release of Star Wars merch I took part in was for Attack of the Clones. I went to Wal-Mart with my mom and we just stood patiently as men in their thirties raced in front of us. These assholes blocked the display with buggies while loading them up with everything in sight. The shelves were literally picked clean by the time we managed to get down the aisle. The thing is, they just piled that shit in so they could pick and choose what they wanted to buy later without worrying about another person snatching it. There were at least half a dozen full shopping carts left behind with all the toys those clowns decided not to purchase. In rummaging through that mess, I was able to pick up most of the new action figures -- as well as a couple vehicles, vinyl figures and puzzles. We easily spent $300 that night. It was my birthday and my folks decided to indulge me. I'll never forget the look of contempt on the checkout girl's face. She even groaned: "Just look. You've got $85 worth of stuff in this bag alone." As a minimum wage employee working the overnight shift, seeing cash being blown so freely probably made her want to vomit.

We went back the next day and the figures had been restocked. I found one Luminara Unduli on the peg (no doubt the rarest figure in the initial wave) and snatched it up. There was another collector in the aisle who followed me around the entire store hoping I would put it down so he could grab it. Creeped me the fuck out. Anyway, I'll never splurge like that again. The only Revenge of the Sith items I picked up were the soundtrack CD and "making of" book.

There's speculation he could appear as a hologram, which might explain the tidy appearance of his robes in that pic.

Spoiler:
Spoilers have mentioned the droids "solve a puzzle" at the end of the film that reveals the location of Luke's refuge -- possibly via a hologram message from Skywalker himself.

That kind of sounds like an unused concept from an early draft of "Empire" by Leigh Brackett: Threepio finds a crystal hidden inside the hilt of Luke's saber. Artoo decodes it and discovers it contains coordinates that ultimately lead Luke to Yoda.

EDIT: Well, maybe it doesn't show up for some of us apparently. Still... there has been a lot issues here where images don't post up well for us.
Try deleting cookies/clearing cache in your browser. I might share an image and hope that people enjoy it, but don't always feel an overwhelming responsibility to make sure that every poster can see it. The stakes just aren't that high.

Hmm, could be a firewall issue? Have you tried rebooting your PC?

Yeah, it's Leonardo DiCaprio. Not sure why some can see it but not others.

Ford looks awkward there. Would have been better to have Isaac in there. Even knowing that Ford is a much bigger draw cuz... SW. But just as an image... it's awkward. Nice but awkward.

Love Struzan's work, but I gotta admit it's not quite the home run I'd hoped for. The layout is interesting, I can see what it's going for... and certainly it's better than most teaser posters (or is this final?)... but yeah Ford has a slightly confused look to him. His Indy poster had him looking sleepy...

EW said that the poster was an exclusive for the con, so it might not be the actual movie poster.

Which is weird since I was under the impression that they had to coax Struzan out of retirement to do a SW poster. Will he also be doing the official movie poster?

so is this the first confirmation the Boyega's character is some sort of Jedi?

^ Not really, just that he uses Luke's saber at one point in the movie.

Abrams told the D23 crowd the movie should clock in around 123 minutes -- about the same running time as A New Hope. I figured that was the length he was aiming for.

Ford looks awful. Looks like a bad Photoshop head swap. Maybe Struzan has put down the paintbrush and is using Photoshop now. Actually, it looks like he is saying "Hey you kids, get off of my lawn or I will use my laser gun"

Was there any new footage shown today? If not, when can we expect a new trailer?

I think the poster is okay but agree that Ford looks odd on it. It looks like he was just squeezed in as an after thought.

Doesn't sound like anything new was shown. Abrams has mentioned there will be a full trailer in the fall, I think in October.
