Well, there was security footage of Anakin killing kids. Maybe Luke saw that.

I always wondered why Yoda/Obiwan never showed that footage in front of the Republic to prove that Palpatine was not the man people thought he was. They have Anakin killing all the Jedi in the temple, and then pledging himself to Palpatine, sounds like a smoking gun to me?

Oh wait, am I trying to rationalize the prequels?

I know rumors are rumors but I'm getting more confused. I say they didn't reveal Rey and Finn's last names just to mislead us and both really are not related to anyone we have seen before.
That rumor was mentioned a page or two back and I mentioned then that
Spoiler:
Rey could still be Han's daughter too.

It is possible for a family to have more than one kid, you know. Some people seem to have forgotten that and seem to think that Han can have one and only one daughter...

This potential new Episode VIII character and Rey could both be Han's daughters. It's definitely not an either/or situation.

Yeah that's what I am saying. Between New Hope and Jedi, Luke used all available resources to learn more about Anakin. As popular as he was as a Jedi, theres no way he was erased from existence. Surely the Rebellion had information, archives, etc.

Very short...but a couple new shots we haven't seen before. The one with Finn....oh man, that was pretty awesome.

Do we think this can pull in $300 million domestically in its opening weekend? I saw an article in Forbes saying it could be a disappointment because $84 million or something is the biggest opening December weekend previously.

I think I'm confused. Rephrase your statement. Cuz... we all know SW will make more than $84 million in that weekend.

$100 million more than the current record holder on Christmas? Nope. I think it has a pretty good chance to crack the top ten opening weekends, though.

Avatar only did $77 million on its opening weekend (12/18/2009) but I don't think anyone was disappointed with its box office. I don't think anyone will be disappointed with the new Star Wars' earning, either.

His statement made sense to me. The second sentence was simply referencing that the highest opening weekend during the holiday period has traditionally not been any where near the record breaking weekends during the summer.

Who knows but really if any film can pull in huge numbers even factoring in the holidays and winter weather I think this is it. It's Star Wars which is huge to begin with coupled with the fact that this is the first new film in a decade and the first to feature the original cast since 1983. There's a lot going for it to be huge in my opinion.

Force Awakens also opens on 12/18 (no christmas). it will also be playing on every IMAX screen in north america. Maybe not $300mil opening weekend but it's got a damn good shot at 200-250mil.

Here's the article that brings up this 300mil / 615 mil (worldwide) opening weekend speculation:

Going back to that teaser, I like the slight revision that John Williams did on the Imperial March for it. And how the last 3 notes coincide exactly to the lightsaber blade ignitions.

One thing that I haven't heard anything on is who did the sound design for this? Is it still Ben Burtt or his protege who did it for Sith? Because the sound of the 2 lightsabers' ignition is completely different from one another.

One is a relic and the other is newer, why would they sound alike?

It is just speculation that the cross-guard lightsaber is an ancient Sith relic. It was never officially confirmed, at least I don't think it was.

Going by recent things that have been revealed, I believe it is not a Sith lightsaber at all. It was recently confirmed that Kylo Ren is not Sith, but rather he is a "Knight of Ren." Ren is a title much like Darth is for the Sith. So the cross-guard may just be a unique Ren design.

So I wonder if Luke is talking to Finn and not Rey about having "the power?" Maybe that means he's Finn Windu

Or I wonder if Finn tries to use the lightsaber to valiantly protect Rey, but fails miserably and she ends up coming to HIS rescue?

The teaser could be a fakeout.

I think Kylo is a total wannabe. He tries to make his own saber, but has no clue how to make a good one. I believe it was officially stated that his saber is poorly constructed, and not a relic.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015, Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fisher

Finn is way too young to be Mace Windu's son. ROTS is something like 55-60 years before Force Awakens. Finn could possibly be a Windu's grandson or great-grandson though.

I also think the teaser could be a fakeout as well. He did seem really nervous in that shot, so it makes me think he could just be trying to protect Rey or something like you say.

I was pointing it out more for who the sound designer is and not really for their degradation due to age within the movies. :-)

Daisy Ridley has said that while Finn gets the badass weapon, she's is the actual badass in the film.
