Re: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015, Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fisher

The only Star Wars toys I'd be interested in would be a TIE Fighter, Millennium Falcon, and possibly Slave I from the "Vintage Line" (or whatever it's called). The girlfriend got me a Vintage X-Wing for Christmas last year and it's pretty cool.

I'm actually thinking of making dioramas with action figures and vehicles for my HT at some point in the future, thinking of maybe some glass-enclosed recreations of scenes from the movies like the Death Star trench scene from ANH, Han Solo in carbonite being loaded onto Slave-I from ESB, and the AT-AT in the forest scene from ROTJ. The backgrounds would probably be a real bitch to do right, though. (And expensive as hell, too!)

There is just to many exclusives. Go to one store to get something, then miss out on the other stores exclusives. Then all the online stores have their own.

You know you hit the shit wall of exclusives when Target is going to have exclusives of 2 cans of Campbells chicken soup and 1 can of Spaghetti-o's.

Shouldn't be too long before we get another trailer, hopefully with more dialogue this time.

Saw a blurb on Facebook just a bit ago. Seems like AMC tweeted about a Star Wars marathon of all 7 movies but the tweet has since been deleted. If you click on the link it now takes you to a pic of Obiwan saying "This is not the page you're looking for..."

As painful as the first 6 hours would be, I'd probably be game for a 7 film marathon.

So does BB-8 talk or just beeps?

I was just at a store at WDW and saw a stuffed animal BB-8 (maybe 18") and a Hot Wheels BB-8. Wish there were more new R2 toys.

A great promotion would be that if you could sit through the prequels in the theater you get to see The Force Awakens for free and they comp you $50 at the concession stand.

I don't think I could do it. Maybe watching them over the course of a few nights but marathoning them would be difficult.

Jesus. Marathoning SW? Oooooof.

My ass couldn't tolerate that much sitting down while awake.

But you could tolerate it while sleeping? So you sleep in a sitting position?

I think most people underestimate how much time they actually do spend sitting in a day. An office job is mostly sitting for a minimum of 8 hours a day. Then you go home and sit on the couch for several more hours before going to bed. Probably at least half the day (12 hours) is spent sitting. 12 hours would be the equivalent of a 6-movie marathon more or less, and many people sit that much every single day.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015, Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fisher

I've actually done the I-VI marathon at home and its no fun. I actually noted the specific runtimes and the whole thing is 13:25:24. If you assume that VII is no shorter than the shortest Star Wars movie (IV) it would roughly put a marathon at at least 15:30.

I was able to pause, take breaks whenever I wanted, browse the internet when I was bored etc. Now imagine spending 15.5 hours in a movie theater with a bunch of nerds with questionable hygiene and a ban on electronic devices.

I'd rather watch an episode a night leading up to opening night. Two movies in a row is pretty much my limit in regards to actually enjoying what I'm watching. Even watching a trilogy can easily become a chore unless they're all short movies, the Evil Dead trilogy comes to mind. On the surface these marathons sound like a fun celebration of the past films but in reality it doesn't matter how much I'm anticipating this movie, if I watch it after 14 hours of other Star Wars movies I'm just gonna be wishing it was over.

I did it at home, but not in theaters. I couldn't do it in theaters since theater seats aren't as comfortable as my couch. Plus, it's harder to take a break whenever I want in the theater.

I plan to marathon it again (plus the phase 3 movies) before Infinity War. I also plan to marathon the first six Star Wars movies before Force Awakens, but I'm doing it at home. Like said above, it's just easier to do a home marathon than a theater marathon. I marathon movies and TV shows all the time at home. Yay Netflix! I can easily do a whole TV season in one weekend. Speaking of which, Snake just said he couldn't imagine sitting that long, but I'm pretty sure he was one of the first people to finish marathoning Daredevil on Netflix in that TV thread...

Yeah. Depending on how my head moves when I'm passed out. I can sleep pretty good sitting down.

Not sure where you got that I possibly make a habit of taking some ZZZs in a sit down position.

I couldn't sit down for that much movie. I stand up over 100 hours in the week. I probably sit down about 25-35 hours in a week normally. Unless I get really lucky where I can take a chance to fucking relax. I might be able to. With like a break to do something for like an hour or two. Get that blood flowing.

Hrmmm. You really do sound like taffer. Comics aside... just the way you formatted your response....seemed very taffer.

Are you taffer?

It was just a joke. You said you couldn't imagine sitting that long while awake, so the inverse of that is that you could imagine sitting that long while asleep. It's just a lame joke. I wasn't seriously saying that you sleep while sitting. (Sleeping while sitting is very bad for your neck too...)

I did a LOTR marathon (the three originals, not any of The Hobbit prequels) in a theater and I thought THAT was a long day at the movies...I can't imagine doing 7 Star Wars films. I think the key is to come in late and maybe start with REVENGE OF THE SITH.

I think I could make it through a marathon. It isn't something that I'd do often but I think it'd be a fun experience once. Not as long but I went to the marathon for The Dark Knight Trilogy and had no issues at all. The theater in town doesn't do marathons often though so I'd have to travel to attend one most likely.

I would kind of like to see Return of the Jedi and then Force Awakens in the theater but no way would I watch all six before Force Awakens. I have already seen the prequels way too many times in the theater and doubt I will ever see them again.

A lot of people did. I'm also guilty. The first time I actually convinced myself I liked it, but I was so excited from the moment the crawl started that probably anything with spaceships and lightsabers would have satisfied me. I could see the flaws, but over looked them because it was Star Wars.

It got worse with each subsequent viewing, as my hype subsided, but I was such a blind fanboy at that point (and fresh out of college, not yet started working, with literally nothing to do) that I ended up seeing it 7 times.
