Mark my words, the next appearance of Robin on film will be a teenage girl. It remains the last thing from The Dark Knight Returns they haven't ripped off yet for the movies and makes perfect demographic sense for Hollywood.

Can we get a petition to build a time machine to stop Man of Steel from ever happening?

Yeah Clooney actually could have been decent in the role if the script and direction for Batman & Robin had been better. Honestly there were some flashes of decent, particularly when he was Bruce and not so much as Batman. He has the style of being a believable rich guy playboy type and can play darker characters too. The problem with the film was it was pretty much designed to sell toys and was a safe film for kids.

Well, I could mention some pagan connotations that can be applied to Superman...

In Grant Morrison's JLA, he set up the Justice League like the Greek Pantheon:

Superman : Zeus
Batman : Hades
Wonder Woman : Hera
Green Lantern : Apollo
Flash : Hermes
Aquaman : Poseidon
Big Barda : Demeter
Oracle : Athena
Orion : Ares
Steel : Hephaestus
Huntress : Artemis
Plastic Man : Dionysus

And there's also the Nietzschean aspect to the character that's really obvious...

Yeah, as Bats there wasn't much for him to do since the camp factor was played to the max. But him as Bruce, the scenes with Alfred, and some of the arguments with Dick in the cave (though most those sucked) were where you saw flashes of the movie that could have been.

Its strongly suspected the next Robin in the comics will be a girl too. Carrie Kelly has been introduced into the New 52, so she is part of the official canon now. Also there's that Harper Row girl who some people think may become Robin.

Chloe Grace Moretz is about the right age for this.

Wouldn't mind if a girl Robin became official canon.

That would give her line about Robin in the Kick Ass 2 trailer a whole other dimension.

I wasn't too happy with hearing at first that Ben Affleck was cast as Batman, but I didn't think it was that bad either. Affleck has directed some good movies and he's a pretty solid actor. After seeing those photoshop mock-ups of him as Batman, which look pretty good, I think he'll play a good Batman.

Maybe Superman & Batman will be Warner Bros Avengers.

Affleck and Clooney are both great actors when they are interested in a project. But I also seen both take roles and just go through the motions for the paycheck.

I tried, but somehow I prevented Grownups 2 from being made and when I came back to the present I was so moved by the grief in the "dan30oly hung himself thread" that I returned things to the proper timeline at great personal cost.

TL;DR version: I tampered in God's domain.

I would use it to prevent someone's parents from hooking up after the prom.

I don't get some saying that Affleck is a great actor. I'm just not seeing it.

Greater chance that person was fucked into existence with no prom association anyway.

I agree. He's okay but I've never thought he had much range. I remember going to an early cut screening of Jersey Girl. There was a scene where he cried over losing his wife. It was so bad I actually laughed out loud. I never saw the final theatrical cut so I don't know if it's still in the movie. He got nominated for a Golden Raspberry award for that movie. In fact, I think he has more Raspberry award noms vs legitimate award noms.

Yeah I don't blame Clooney at all for Batman and Robin. I even think he makes a better Bruce than Val Kilmer

I think he's a good actor now. Much better director. Maybe it's cuz he's been pretty good in his own films that people say that?

Granted. I'm not a fan of his acting work. Love his directing though. What films would they say he's been great in? I'd check out those listed just to see what great acting from him is.

Yeah, he had decent "brotherly" chemistry with Chris O'Donnell, and his moments with Michael Gough were great...but so much else consistently went wrong.

You know, the more I see you talk about how much you hated Man of Steel the more I think it must be great. Like Lawrence of Arabia great. Like members of the AFI creaming themselves great. It must be, that's the only thing that makes sense.

Filming on Zack Snyder's untitled MAN OF STEEL follow-up will take place from February 2014 to August. Moreover, Ben Affleck is signed to play Batman in multiple DC movies.

And apparently Bryan Cranston has also been cast as Lex Luthor:

They're also reporting that Matt Damon is being eyed for Aquaman or Martian Manhunter.

I think I'll wait for a more reputable source than Cosmic Book News.
