I figure the Palpatine cackle at the end was just to make the fanboys lose their shit. If he is in this, it's likely no more than a flashforceback.

Didn't bother watching the whole panel, just caught the tail end where they revealed yet another smaller, cuter droid that they intend to market the shit out of. Suck it, R2!

I didn't watch the panel but you can see a new little droid next to BB-8.

And R2 is my favorite Star Wars character but he was also a big part of 6 movies. I'm fine with some new stuff.

At this juncture, I would've been onboard with "The Last Laser Master" as a title. The Rise Of Skywalker sounds like something EA would release.

Speaking of the Death Star wreckage, that (per the art of TFA book) is a holdover they intended for Episode VII -- presumably from the original Lucas treatment that got rejected.
