Yeah, I’ve somehow never seen Old School but have heard it’s good. War Dogs just didn’t really interest me enough to care to see it.

War Dogs was ok but it was a movie we’ve seen a dozen times before. The original Hangover is a comedy classic. The other two, not so much.

Very unsettling clip... with the grindhouse feel and that music. Phoenix is one creepy fuck. Not a fan of the makeup tho.... hopefully it's some sort of proto Joker thing.

Looking at these, very reminiscent of Heath Ledger's Joker.

The suit is absolute perfection. That’s the iconic Joker look. Could be a tad more purple but I very much like it with the green dress shirt and yellow vest. Better than a stupid ass gator jacket without a shirt and tattoos on display.

My guess is that’s pre-Joker transformation. His hands aren’t white from the chemicals yet (unless he’s supposed to be wearing gloves or something). Maybe he’s using the clown look for part of his standup act or something.

Gotham looks an awful lot like the New York subway system.

Of the DC movies, I've only seen Man of Steel and Wonder Woman. I liked Wonder Woman and thought Man of Steel was OK. I've had zero interest in seeing any of the others, until this one. I'll watch Joaquin Phoenix in just about anything.

That look grew on me. For better or for worse, it’s an update thatks going to resonate with the current generation of kids and teens more than a more traditional Joker would.

They might be doing a different take on The Joker here, where he’s just a guy in makeup.

Gangster thug meth head Letoker will never, ever grow on me. Such a horrible abomination to a classic character.

Possible, but I think that makes him too much like Ledger. Either way I’m excited for once about something DC film related.

One of my biggest compliants about the Nolan trilogy was that Gotham looked an awful lot like Chicago in TDK and an awful lot like Pittsburgh (complete with a camera mugging Hines Ward) in TDKR. I do think they got the look of Gotham right in BB though.

Yeah, it was a shame they went away from the character introduced in Batman Begins and just kind of gave up in TDK and TDKR.

Batman Begins is the best of Nolan’s trilogy for many reasons in my opinion. The look of Gotham was definitely best in the first film. I also like the Begins Batsuit best, liked the Tumbler and wished they hadn’t destroyed it in favor of the Bat-Pod (and later The Bat), and I think it overall feels the most like a comic book whereas the other two feel like crime dramas starring Batman characters. I like the films but realize they aren’t perfect.

It's a mash-up of Cesar Romero AND Heath Ledger and I think it looks great.

These shots look great. Incredibly creepy. I'm cautiously optimistic with what we've seen so far.

Love the Joker look. I recall discussion from Suicide Squad and how they went way too far to try and differentiate his look from previous Jokers, but I feel like both Ledger and what we've seen here do enough to keep the look while having their own distinct feel.

I liked it too, but the tattoos ruined it.

And I hated the way Gotham looked in BB. It didn't look like a real city that exists in the United States. The sepia tone to the whole place made it worse.
I very much liked how the city looked in the sequels.
I also hated Gotham in Batman Returns.

I'm not thrilled about the Joker suit here.
I was thinking that with the make-up, they were going to go even further from the comic, and maybe have him in regular clothing. Give him more of a traditional serial killer vibe at first.

I was thinking immediately of Romero with these pictures.
The reason why I don't like this look is that it looks TOO reminiscent of Cesar Romero Joker and Heath Ledger Joker.

Re: Joker (2019, D: Todd Phillips) -- S: Joaquin Phoenix

He looks like The Joker at least from his clothing. That basic outfit is what I’d consider his most iconic look. It’s had variations on style and colors throughout the years but more or less that’s what he wears. All the iconic Jokers from Romero to Nicholson to Hamill have looked that way. Even Ledger’s look while having some unique traits looked fairly in line with that style. Leto is the only one who’s deviated and it was terrible. I think it’s a good look and doesn’t need to be updated.

If this is going by The Killing Joke which it seems partially inspired by he’s not a serial killer at all before he becomes The Joker. He’s a failing stand-up comedian who decides to take on a job for some mobsters to make money to support his family. He tries to rob Ace Chemicals as The Red Hood and falls in the vat of acid.

Agree, Begins feels like Batman and the sepia look made Gotham something out of the comics. Dark Knight and Returns are amazing films but dont feel like Batman as much.

And yeah im so fucking in for this Joker movie.

It feels like a generational thing. Heath was epic and won a posthumous Oscar. I reckon Joaquin is going for the same goal. I hope he gets it. Folks love the Joker character for being so intelligent and psychotic.

I sincerely hope that Joaquin's goal with this one isn't to win a posthumous Oscar.

Yeah Mark Hamill was SO iconic in his portrayal of a live action Joker. Oh wait. It's so stupid when people put Hamill in with the live action actors to play Joker. Yes his animated voice is iconic but when people put him in with the live action Jokers it makes no sense.

Anyway, I am totally into this movie idea. I hope it turns out good.
