Hasn't that been common knowledge for a few months now? I thought Gunn already said that a while back?

Perhaps the rumblings have increased post The Flash bombing at the box office?

Hate to say it but...Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2 are gonna BOMB. And, it's going to affect Gunn's new stuff more than expected.

I still support Gunn's efforts, and I want to see him and the DCU succeed.... but I have a feeling he won't be able to "save" the DC films universe 100%

Put Barbie in the next Justice League film (not as Harley, as Barbie). See and who says execs are overpaid.

I still plan to see Blue Beetle next month. But, I know the movie doesn't have any "stars" and that will ultimately hurt it. Not the whole "How is it interconnected?" Who really cares at this point? I just want to see an entertaining 2 hour movie. Xolo is on the popular Cobrai Kai, but he's definitely not a household name. And Susan Sarandon hasn't been a star in many years.

Yeah, but she can still get it.

Black Adam had The Rock and it fucking sucked.

Does anybody outside of die-hard DCU fans think about Blue Beetle and his place in the over-arching story? They can't even get a goddam Superman story right. I will likely watch this when it hits Max but I'll never see this in a theater, and like Giantrobo, I think this will bomb.

Well this sounds ridiculously stupid. It's an origin story unrelated to anything that came before, why would any of that matter going forward?

Yeah, WB thew shit at the wall to see what would stick for the last 10 years and it sounds like they're still doing the same. Seems like instead of forging ahead with the DCU hot on the heels of the failed DCEU, it's just still a mess. Honestly, it's too soon. Seems like DC needs to step back for 5-10 years and take a deep breath and then reboot.

I'm in the same boat as you. Sure I liked the DCEU and wish it would get a proper sendoff, rather than the Hindenburg reenactment it's going through, but I also want to see Gunn's DCU succeed where the DCEU failed. However, I don't see Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters being a rousing success. Hopefully it slowly builds a cult following and WB allows it to grow before pulling the plug, so we can see the whole of what Gunn is envisioning. Or perhaps DC movies as a whole should go on extended hiatus until the current stink washes off.

Re: DC's Blue Beetle (2023, D: Soto) - S: Xolo Maridueña

There's a parallel universe where WB handed the reins of the DC Universe over to Bruce Timm and Paul Dini. They gave them a courtesy meeting right around the time they went with Christopher Nolan to head the Dark Knight trilogy.

A film like Blue Beetle only succeeds at the box office in a franchise with momentum and fan support. DC has neither at the moment.

I still think the biggest waste was Shazam 2, strange executive decisions killed interest after a promising debut film.

Given how well the bulk of their animated flicks tend to turn out (dreck like the abysmal adaptation of The Killing Joke notwithstanding), I'm surprised WB never let the animation department have a crack at crafting the stories for the live action movies.

$35 for that? The prices for some of these collectibles are just absurd.

At least it seems like it will hold popcorn more than the Barbie Corvette did.

It's a backup that you put popcorn in, Okay. But, I guess it's supposed to be the scarob mask the main character wears.

It's on the character's back as well, not a mask.

I saw the popcorn backpack sitting behind the counter at AMC today. It looks like it was made for less than $5.

Someone must be buying these. I've never seen one purchased so they must buy them in the evening since that's when I never go to a theater.

If you have the Regal app on your phone, check your rewards. Looks like they are giving out a free IMAX ticket to see this. The reward expires in 7 days (movie opens on Thursday)

Mine shows an IMAX "upgrade" offer, not a free ticket. Might be a YMMV.

If you click the actual offer in the App, it'll open up showtimes for next Thursday at your preferred Regal Theaters.

When you choose a time, at least with my Unlimited Plus Membership, the ticket price shows as $0.00 (which is usually not the case for IMAX screenings).

Ah, I don’t have unlimited plus. Mine shows a cheaper than normal ticket price.

Wow, currently running 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Wasn't expecting that positive a reception.
