Re: The Zone of Interest (2023, W/D: Jonathan Glazer) S: Hüller, Friedel

Saw this a second time last week. Took all the kids. I don't know that they enjoyed it but they did not complain. It went by a lot faster for me on a second watch.

Re: Drive-Away Dolls (2024, D: Ethan Coen) S: Qualley, Viswanathan, Feldstein, Pascal, Domingo, Damon, Ca

Just saw this; my wife and I were the only ones in the theater so it must not be too popular.
"Bit of a mess" and "Trying too hard" are good descriptors. The thinner thug's voice sounded really...

Re: Lisa Frankenstein (2024, D: Williams) S: Newton, Sprouse

Just saw this and thought it was a mess. Did they film half before the pandemic or something? Its like the director kept switching up the main character between scenes.

At the end she dies in...

re: Untitled Paul Thomas Anderson film (2025) - S: DiCaprio, Penn, Hall

PTA was spotted filming (most likely for this film) here in Sacramento yesterday. No mention of Leo being here, though.

edited to add: Leo was also here; maybe the next day or today.

Re: The Zone of Interest (2023, W/D: Jonathan Glazer) S: Hüller, Friedel

Anyone else see this yet? My wife thought it was great; I thought it was a little too "arthouse" and slow but it was still powerful. I am surprised this is up for best picture, though.

Re: American Fiction (2023, D: Cord Jefferson) S: Jeffrey Wright

I saw this tonight and thought it was great. I felt like it kind of wandered between stories and that some might not have been necessary but i still enjoyed it.

Re: Next Goal Wins (2023, D: Waititi) S: Michael Fassbender, Elisabeth Moss

Same for me. I like it. It was on one of the bigger the screens at my usually theater but at an 8pm showing, my wife and I were the only ones in there.

This movie is intense (in a good way). Likely Oscar candidate for leading actress.

Re: Pistol (Hulu) -- Sex Pistols limited series -- D: Danny Boyle -- premieres 5/31/22

I finally got around to watching this and enjoyed it. I was really into the Sex Pistols in my teenage years; really liked Sid & Nancy the movie. The guy who plays Steve Jones is in the new Royal...

Re: Killers of the Flower Moon (2023, D: Scorsese) S: DiCaprio, De Niro, Gladstone, Plemons

I saw it yesterday in IMAX (Regal LieMAX). Yeah it is longer than it needed to be. I don't know if I would call it a slog since I was entertained through the whole thing. I made it through without...

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

It looks like a lot of screens are switching back to horror and new movies this thursday. At least at the Regal I usually go to, the IMAX screen is going to Killers of the Flower Moon and some of the...

Re: The Royal Hotel (2023, D. K. Green) S: Julia Garner, Jessica Henwick

I thought it was pretty good. I also didn't recognize Hugo Weaving until I saw his name in the credits.

Re: It Lives Inside (2023, D: Dutta) S: Megan Suri

Just saw this. There were only 3 other people in the theater besides my wife and I. Of course they were seated right behind us and talked a bunch. We moved closer to the screen; they started talking...
