Re: Star Trek: Discovery (Paramount +) -- The 5th and Final season

That was a pretty awesome start to the season. I watched the Ready Room and they mentioned how this season there is an air of levity to the writing which I think is really needed. this show...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery (Paramount +) -- The 5th and Final season

Honestly there are a lot of episodes that have that attempted emotional gravitas. Basically every episode someone is dying or leaving or ordered the wrong sandwich. Maybe this time it actually feels...

Re: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

I know we're getting OT here and it just seems to be us two, but I think I'm done with the trend of season long, or even series long story arcs. It's they're good then it ends up being a great...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery (Paramount +) -- The 5th and Final season

So I did something that I NEVER thought I'd do. I rewatched STD. All of it. From the very beginning. I've been watching the Shuttle Pod Show podcast and have been wanting to rewatch Enterprise for...

Re: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

Yes absolutely it depends on the show. Most shows I prefer a tight 10 episode season. But when it's really good and already short at 20 minute episodes, 10 episodes just isn't enough. Especially when...

Re: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

One thing I hate about modern day TV is how few episodes there are and how long it is in between seasons. That goes doubly when there is a cartoon like this 10 episodes is exceptionally short.

Re: Star Trek 4 (?) -- news, rumors, etc.

I think they acknowledged that in Beyond didn't they? Or did the film acknowledge, with a subtle look, it but the characters didn't?

Re: Star Trek 4 (?) -- news, rumors, etc.

I think Decker was just making the point that the Kelvinverse actors are not that old. Especially compared to TOS cast when they were filming the movies. Yeah sure a lot of time has past since Beyond...

Re: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024, D: Wingard) -- The Reviews Thread

Good to hear about the run time. I love a good mindless popcorn action flick that realizes it's a mindless popcorn action flick.

I think that was the number one downfall of the transformers...

Re: Star Trek 4 (?) -- news, rumors, etc.

Star Trek is in a much different place than it was in 2009. I'm not entirely sure this is really necessary. Sure I'd love to see the Kelvin timeline one more time but I'm much more vested in Strange...

Re: Unpopular Opinion - Video Game/Gaming Edition

Yep this is pretty much everything I was going to say. Mario 64 and Zelda OOT are enough to justify the experimental N64 generation. We wouldn't be where we are today without those revolutionary...

Re: Movies with long sequences that feel like they could be part of a separate movie

Best TV Show Alternative Title Sequences

What are some fun examples of episodes that changed up the title sequence to fit the theme of a particular episode?

I'll go ahead with my favorite. A recent one.

Re: Star Trek Discussion (1966-2005)

No ship no captain.

No one would lose rank.

I'm just flabbergasted you had a whole deep and nerdy conversation/debate on who was the captain of the Enterprise in a high school class.

I felt...

Re: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

Wow episode 3 was seriously dark. And a bit graphic compared to the OG animated series. It was awesome. I thought it was funny they showed Jubilee splitting a demon's brain in half but had Wolverine...

Re: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

eh...him/his writers are pretty insightful on their videos. So I still appreciate the channel. A lot of good background info. And nothing too crazy. I like his delivery style too. I don't know why...

Re: Movies with long sequences that feel like they could be part of a separate movie

From Dusk til Dawn. I didn't know anything about the movie. I don't think I even knew what movie I was watching. It was just on the movie channel in college. And wow did it take a left turn at the...

Re: Movies with long sequences that feel like they could be part of a separate movie

 I feel like the best kaiju movies don't skimp on the plot for the humans. The better the story is for the humans the more vested I am in the kaiju and therefore the overall movie.

For G-1...

Re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)

I finally bought a VR gaming headset. (I do have an old Oculus Go). The Meta Quest 2 was $200 with a $50 Meta GC. I figured $150 is a pretty good entry point. See if I really use it much. Hopefully...

Re: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

Supposedly it's not an explicit only fans account. It is still weird the way he was fired and the timing. I'm guessing Disney got ahead of the ball this time. But odd it hasn't come out whatever it...

Re: Unpopular Opinion - Video Game/Gaming Edition

A hard disagree on Nintendo games looking 2 generations behind. All the major first party Nintendo games on the switch look absolutely great. That's even when taking into account looking at different...

Re: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

During the pandemic all of the shipping was messed up and merch kept getting released too late. Maybe they overcompensated. It's strange that that they can't get their act together and just release...

Re: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

The whole roll out for this series has been so strange. It feels like it's taken forever to come out and there was a large push of merchandise a long time ago that has since come and gone and on...
