finally! the season I somehow missed where Jack comes out. TBS is golden for showing this highly addictive series. Plan on going to the North Carolina studio tour this summer to see the actual sets.

All I remember:

Spoiler:

It's the one where Joey and Dawson's relationship goes kaput, and it's basically never the same again for a long time, which opens the door for Joey and Pacey. The hurt on Joey's face at the end was heartbreaking, as was Dawson's reaction. I forget what exactly happened, but it just tore me up the first time I saw it. I think some of had to do with Joey's no-good fire, a fire at the Ice House, and Dawson turning Joey's dad in for the fire. Thankfully I didn't have to wait an entire summer to find out what happened next for the gang.

Yep, that's correct.
Spoiler:
Just when Joey's dad seemed to have reformed, he set fire to their restaurant, the Ice House

I watched it the first two seasons and after Kevin Williamson left I did too. It lost the cool banter and funny movie references and became drab after that to me. I did watch the series finale though.

Season 3 is boring. Nothing happens. The first two seasons had deaths and kids having sex and getting drunk and going crazy and everyone would get together and break up every week. Season 3 they're not doing anything. Painting murals, running a bed and breakfast, student rallies, mentoring a child, and longing for each other from a distance with secret feelings. LAME! The best monkeywrench they could think of this season is some horrendously bad cliched portrayal of a rich kid brat who paints over some really stupid mural that Joey painted. No big loss anyway since nobody would've understood how some asian bamboo painting with chinese characters would embody school spirit at Capeside's school for the rich, white and privelidged. When does this bullshit get good again? I saw alot of the last couple seasons and liked that shit because joey's college roommate would get wasted all the time and crap would happen to them.

edit - wow, Pacey finally kissed Joey. It's a miracle - something actually happened. *zzzzzzzz

Also - does Joey ever stop being this annoying? I mean, somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd season she started mugging alot and making squinty faces and looks like she's trying to take a really difficult crap in her pants all the time.

Was that mural one on today? (3/16) I was reeling from a toothache and had my head in my pillow for about three hours, but this was on in the background. I seem to remember hearing something about a mural while I was in pain and agony. I recall something about the principal doing something wrong or something like that.

Have you seen the episode that is entirely dedicated to Joey. I won't spoil it, if you haven't but...damn that was the worst episode ever!

yesterday was the Mural thing which spanned 3 episodes moving into today. Today's second episode had Pacey finally kissing Joey after picking her up from that college guy's dorm cuz he was obviously in love with that much hotter blonde chick. An entire episode about Joey would be brutal. Today was bad enough. She's a terrible actress - why do people like her? cuz she showed her boobs in The Gift?

Two entire episodes dragging out the Joey Pacey kiss - stressing over it, talking about it, crying about it... Jen was crying because some girl hit on her boyfriend. Pacey and Dawson go camping and tell scary campfire stories to kids. First season had wives cheating on husbands and kids getting drunk and having sex and drowning in the creek. It's like a different show. Someone tell me season 4 kicks it back up a notch.

question in terms of the 'background' music, do the DVD Box sets of the series differ from the original broadcast versions - were there some songs that couldn't or weren't used (i.e, royality rights issues). I know that the claimer on the DVD covers allude to the fact that some of the music was changed.

A lot of the background music was changed starting with the second season set. I believe the "major" songs used were kept, but not always. I am not the hugest of fans so I couldn't remember if a song was kept or not if I were to watch the dvds.

Oh and with season 3 and 4 the theme song is also changed.

here is the site with changes.

This totally SICKENS me. I'll NEVER buy these sets now. Some of those songs were nothing, the show made them what they were. Some had HUGE impacts on what was going on during the show when they were played. And this is how it gets treated. Well I'll dvdr them all, I don't give a damn if its legal or not. You think I'm gonna pay for this crap you're INSANE. Which they clearly are, I had a look at that site, that totally sickens me.

This show was one of the first shows to use music to perfection during a show. Lots of shows tried, but this show perfected it. And this is how it ends up.UGH

Well - so far, the music in the broadcast version of season 3 sucks... not as good as S1 or S2.

The whole show sucks after season 3. It got to the point I even stopped caring about it. Im not even sure I watched them all.

But the first few seasons were great, great tv. Awesome clever writing, to bad it all went to hell. And after what they did to the dvd sets, they can all go to hell.

wow! thanks for the link conscience I didn't realize how impressive the song list for the episodes were and the radical editing they did for the DVD Box sets.

Todays episodes dealt with Dawson finding out about Joey and Pacey's stolen kisses. The first episode was a poor attempt at a non-linear telling of one day from 4 different perspectives. In spite of being clumsy, it was the best episode of S3 so far and gives me some hope that there will be decent episodes again in the near future. The second one is the aftermath - dawson forbids Joey and Pacey from seeing each other and acts like a total selfish infant fucktwat asshole. He also childishly enters the big boat race in order to show Joey he's a real man. While the story is hackneyed, the drama is thick and juicy. Anyone else watching?

I remember those eps. Stick with it even when it seems like you wanna give up. Even if the overall season sucks, there's some good episodes like "The Unusual Suspects" from S4 I think.

I remember when these episodes were "new." I caught the show every once in a while, but I loved to read televisionwithoutpity's recaps, even though they are very long and wordy. Dawson really did seem to turn into some overprotective stalker around this point of the series.

the first season is great...2nd was a bit too melrose-place like. after that is was way downhill, especially the last 2 seasons once they left the creek. utter crap.

Monday was the last 2 episodes of Season 3... both were very good. They had an alternative prom, Dawson's mom and dad got back together, Pacey decided to sail his boat to the Florida Keys... Dawson was a crazy posessive psycho for awhile, but at the end he "loved somebody and set them free" and let Joey go with Pacey... she went.

Tuesday is the first two episodes of Season 4... should be juicy. Halfway through the series...

FUCK! Goddamned daylight savings time... I missed the first episode today. Why does everyone else in the country feel like they need to save daylight? Bastards.

It was episode #419 described as:
As Gale's delivery date approaches, the girls throw a baby shower for her...but it's an experience that throws Joey for a loop when she realizes it's possible that she could be pregnant, and Pacey is nowhere to be found. While Dawson awaits the arrival of his new sibling, Dawson and Gretchen wonder what their future holds when Gretchen considers an out-of-town job... Meanwhile, Jack faces an unexpected situation when he learns that Tobey falls victim to a vicious crime.
So anyone care to expand on that to make me feel like I've seen it? :/

The second episode was Promicide and it was pretty good.
