Re: What shows have you STOPPED watching?
I am very close to dropping The Blacklist...but Spader keeps pulling me back in despite the overwhelming stupidity of the show

Add The Following to my "drop" list. I had the two new episodes on my DVR and I started to watch the premiere last night. After about 15 minutes when the first person was stabbed I was reminded how much I hated that show and asked myself why I was watching. It felt freeing to delete both episodes and the season pass.

I'm getting ready to drop The Following, and I'm still teetering on the edge of dropping Criminal Minds and the Blacklist.
Criminal Minds is just overkill dark at this point, The Following is silly dark, and The Blacklist I realized I turn it on and it's more background than anything. 3/4th of the way through an episode I really I'm not really following it.
Edit: Ok I've officially dropped The Following lol.

Re: What shows have you STOPPED watching?
I just never came back to The Blacklist, after it returned from hiatus after the Superbowl.
I never started Justified this year, even though I love the show. This one is probably due more to time.
I never came back to The Americans for Season 2. I didn't hate it and plan to catch up at some point. I keep seeing great things about season 3.

I still haven't started this season of Justified, either. Been saving them up, mostly due to time. I finally watched all of the previous season over Christmas break. I'll probably watch this one in summer.

Banshee...thought the first two seasons were fantastic but season three turned into a cartoon. They ran out of ideas.
Bailed on Dexter after season 4. Season 5 terrible inho.

Re: What shows have you STOPPED watching?
I watched 5 episodes of Eye Candy and it wasn't clicking for me. Victoria Justice is really hot, but the show is pretty much a cyber crimes cop procedural with a serial killer in the backdrop.
Made the difficult decision to stop watching The Originals and Reign. Not because I dislike either show, but I need to watch a more manageable amount of entertainment and those shows IMO were the most expendable. Plus, The CW shows eat up around 2% of DVR space per episode and I had like 9 episodes of each backed up. It freed up a lot of space. I'm also going on vacation in June for over 2 weeks and I need to not be so backlogged heading into the summer. If I get caught up, I may re-visit them when season 2 comes out to Netflix later this year. Reign is a beautiful show with a beautiful cast of young girls who I like, so I hated to bail on it. The problem I had with it is that it's a period show and most of the time, I'm never in the mood to sit down and watch it. I need to devote full attention to it and usually after work I'm pretty tired and can't focus like that.
I recently nuked The Originals, The Vampire Diaries (I am a longtime viewer of this show), Supernatural (again, viewer since the very first ep), and Two Broke Girls (viewer since the beginning, but I had a backlog of 3 eps and no desire to catch up). I am this close to letting go of The Black List (5 ep backlog, and no itch to catch up). I am coming to the realization that by the time I can take the time to catch up, the seasons I missed will already be on Netflix.
I see a comment like this all the time. What does this mean? So, you keep recording shows that you have no desire to watch? What? Why keep recording it then? Unless, you are afraid you would miss out on a potentially cool and talked about episode? Or have you gotten so bored with them because you're never in the right mood or never have enough time to actually sit down and watch several episodes in a row?

Re: What shows have you STOPPED watching?
I can't believe I first posted in this thread over 10 freaking years ago. I claimed I was done watching both Lost and Six Feet Under at the time. Truth is, I watched every episode of both those shows.
Posted again five years later saying I was done with The Office. Watched all those, too.
I've dropped a bunch of shows after only watching a handful of episodes (Blacklist and Constantine, I'm looking at you) but the only show I'm somewhat invested in that I think I'm done with is Mad Men. I'm a full season behind and don't see any scenario where I spend the time to ever get caught up.

The Originals has been predictable and boring this season, it's a mess. Now that the CW is body switching Originals to keep the characters on the show while the real actors leave, it has become stupid.

Re: What shows have you STOPPED watching?
I just realized that I dropped Sleepy Hollow about 3 episodes ago. Wife and I started the episode, got 10 minutes in and just didn't care anymore. Decided to let it build up on the DVR and see if we care by the summer. Some how I doubt it.

I finally dropped the season pass for Criminal Minds. Been a fan of the show since it came out but I feel it run its course.

Re: What shows have you STOPPED watching?
DJariya, the short answer is that tivos let you get away with recording shows that you suspect you will never get around to viewing, and I, like a lot of others on this board, run with the opportunity to keep the shows around for potential viewing down the road. The HBO mini series, Mildred Pierce, sat on my tivo for over 2 years before I watched. Granted, this was a movie, not a tv show, but an HD airing of The Thin Man also sat on my tivo for over two years.
It is ridiculously easy to "clean up" a tivo that is littered with shows I no longer care about, so I let them linger for a while just in case I end up wanting to catch up after all (this happened with the first season of The Originals, and the last season of Supernatural, a rare case of a full season I had to catch up on, and did...but the current season did nothing for me after watching the first 3 episodes).
I guess my answer was long after all, but this is not like the old days of using vhs where you had to make the hard decision to record over something you never got around to watching.
You know all this, but I get why you are asking the question...I love tv, but as the are you overwhelmed with what to watch thread shows, there is just too much stuff to watch without giving certain shows I used to like the cold shoulder.

Re: What shows have you STOPPED watching?
Looks like I am back out of Agents of SHIELD. Last week didn't record (thanks to my daughter) and ABC isn't available on demand for me. I'm not downloading the app just to find out if I can use it or not (in fact, that concept alone will prevent me from ever downloading it).
I binged the first season of The Americans and loved it. Didn't get Season 2 squeezed in before the new one started, so I'm not keeping up. The same fate befell Turn and Vikings for me ... Liked what I saw, but didn't keep up.

Re: What shows have you STOPPED watching?
I really wish The Blacklist would get canceled. The show is ridiculous, but Spader is amazing. I hate every other character on the show, but Reddington and Dembe are interesting. Spader deserves an award for this show because I have never seen one actor keep such an awful show afloat.
