Re: What shows have you STOPPED watching?
I'm close to dropping Homeland, as I didn't see last nights episode. I'll give it a few more episodes, but this has become a borefest.
Another Showtime show I'm dropping is The Affair. It's has just gotten so ridiculous I don't even care about the Season Finale last night, as I may get around to it sometime.
What is it with Showtime? Great shows that just fall off a cliff.

I think I'm going to drop Taboo. I've picked up Sneaky Pete and This is Us so trying to decipher the heavily accented gibberish is moving down my priority list.

The Walking Dead: The season opener was
Made it through about halfway through The Good Place and didn't feel it was terrible or anything--just didn't feel the need to keep up.
Scorpion is a watch-if-someone-else-turns-it-on kind of thing.

This year I also abandoned the CW superhero trio: Arrow, The Flash & Legends Of Tomorrow. Arrow had been going downhill for a season and a half. The Flash is turning into Arrow. And the latter never clicked with me.

Supernatural
- what was once an enjoyable guilty pleasure with moments of greatness is now (and has been for a few seasons) tired and repetitive. I gave the latest season a shot but after it's mid-season premiere I am out...
Shameless
- once a show I looked forward to it has succumbed to being a pale, unwatchable imitation of itself
Homeland
- no interest in this current season at all

Elementary fell into a rut when they decided Sherlock and Joan could never get romantically involved. They came up with this tortured explanation for why Sherlock and Joan are living together and won't date anyone.

Re: What shows have you STOPPED watching?
A good time for a thread bump because I am in the process of going through a tv purge. I recently deleted Insecure due to a massive backlog that I had no itch to complete.
I nuked the first episode of Sucession before it could even get a toehold in my head. A surprise to me was deleting Westworld....I was behind by at least 6 eps on season 1 so I was of course also behind on all of season 2, I thought I might regret this one but nope, after sleeping on it still not going to recover from my tivo list of deleted shows.
I am behind by almost 25 eps on Supergirl, like Charlie Brown thinking he is going to finally kick the football I kept telling myself I would regret if I delete the season pass, but I think this post has convinced me to finally kill the season pass. Another shocker that makes my deleting Westworld and Supergirl seem like a nothingburger (at least in my mind) is that I think I will delete The Flash (no desire to catch up on around 17 episodes).
I deleted the last 2 (or was it 3?) episodes of NCIS...they got rid of Abbie, so if I stick with the show I am fine seeing what direction they go in without feeling I missed out by not having watched the past few episodes.
I did the same with NCIS: New Orleans and LA, I just read what I missed on-line and decided to just pick it up again with the new season.
I am at least 11 eps behind on Bull...think I need to cut bait on that show.
This one saddens me, but 7 eps behind on Timeless so will probably nuke.
9-11 is another show I need to walk away from, and I think Counterpoint will also be deleted, as I only watched the first two episodes and feel no pull to jump in and catch up.
My tivo list of unwatched shows is a big mess of tons of shows I have not touched in ages and is obviously an indicator that I clearly need to clean things up.
Anyone else feeling the itch to clean up what they will ask their dvr to record from this point forward?

There's many streaming shows that I haven't even started or finished simply because there is no time. And new ones keep coming.
I'm gradually accepting that I simply can't keep up with everything no matter how good it is or may be. When you start getting worked up about 10 shows being recorded in 2 days and you still have 50 others to watch and how I can make the time to see them, then you know something is wrong. It's extra stress I don't need.

I haven't watched Supergirl the entire last season. The first season Melissa Benoist crushed it as an adorkable reluctant superhero or superhero in training. When it became a weekly political commentary it got old real fast and I gave up.
I wasn't a huge fan of Abbie and was suprised to see her as one of the top paid women in TV. Didn't dislike her but not sure why she had such a fanatic fan base. They did OK with her departure and jettisoning Reeves. He was always dead weight anyway. He had very little to do and only a couple lines in most episodes. I wish Esposito would have stuck around. They got a little sappy at the end. The new girl had been introduced in an earlier episode. Not sure how I'm going to like her. Really high strung and high pitched.
Timeless IMO hit it out of the park this season. Plenty of action and tension. I actually understood this season. The first season they kept initimating that Garcia was really a good guy but they let him get away with bad stuff week after week. I was really confused most of the time. Now it is much more clear who the bad guy is and what they are doing to stop them.

Re: What shows have you STOPPED watching?
Djariya, you hit the nail on the head...the ability to record so much stuff just leads to an accelerated backlog of shows that get untouched.
Oh yeah, add Legion to the list of shows I already deleted (was behind all of season 2 and still had 3-4 eps of season 1 to go so it was an easy decision to nuke). I am sure I will bump this thread with other shows.
I know that some folks will cringe when I make this comparison but I think that dvr clutter is not all that dissimilar to actual home video clutter. It affects the quality of your life when so many things are piled up in real life or digitally that you just keep accumulating stuff knowing you have no time to watch it all but still stressing that you need to keep up with what is cool in tv land.
Less clutter is good, whether it is physically less blu rays piled up on your floor/shelves or great big jumbled piles of shows/films that could potentially sit on your dvr for years without being touched being reduced by the simple click of a button on a remote control.

Put me in the Supergirl camp as well. We've watched maybe 4 from this past season but have no desire to keep going...but it still sits on the DVR.
I think I'm finally at the breaking point for Walking Dead as well. About 6-8 episodes behind and can't muster up the energy to waste my time on it. It'd be easier to forge ahead if I knew Negan was finally gone.

I am not sure I can continue with Legion. This season was pretentious crap to be honest. I dont miss any of the shows I previously dumped.

I'm done with Silicon Valley. When it's on, I end up spending more time looking at my phone than I do the show. I just don't care anymore.
I also bailed early on Lost in Space even though I kind of liked it, just not enough to set aside an hour at a time to sit through it.
I'm also done with every Marvel TV show because, let's be honest here, they're all fuckin dumb and bad and not worth anybody's time. I think I gave them all a chance (up to Luke Cage) just to see how they'd tie into the MCU. Turns out, they never did in any sort of meaningful way, and they never will.
And even though we're still watching Westworld, I'd be just fine if we stopped right now. It's...not great.
I know there's got to be more that I'm not remembering. It's so easy to just drop a show because there's so much else to watch.

While I haven't officially bailed on Westworld, I have only watched the first episode of S2.
I think I need to pay more attention. I've been in the habit of web surfing while watching some shows, lately. For Billions I got in the habit of locking my PC while I watch. It makes a world of difference for things that get missed. I like to think I can multi-task, in that regard, but I've shown myself otherwise.

For us TBBT and Modern Family have been habit shows far more than quality must see TV. I don't care any more but the wife still likes them enough to tune in.

I got about 7 episodes into AMC's The Terror and just finally gave up. They just drug out the story so slow until I couldn't take it anymore.
Also quit halfway through History Channel's Knightfall. I just couldn't help feeling that I was watching a poor man's Game of Thrones. Cheap boring knockoff.

TWD is the only that comes to mind. I won't watch next season. Ooooh. I did try watching Ex on the Beach but it was too much for me. Just trash.
I probably won't stick with Succession.

Gave up Fear the Walking Dead after the Season 4 premiere. Will probably skip The Walking Dead next season now that Andrew Lincoln has announced he's leaving the show.

I was a big fan of Dexter but it got worse by the season and I never finished it.
Homeland and the Affair both became unwatchable for me.
I still have 4 episodes of TWD on my DVR and I am considering deleting them...

True Blood- quit watching about halfway through the next to last season. Just found the characters annoying.
Walking Dead-too damn repetitive. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was a good addition, but he was just another villain they had to overcome.

I quit watching The CW Superhero shows (The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow) last year. I just got burnt out on watching them... I also quit The Walking Dead after Negan showed up.
