I honestly feel she's the "best fit" for the group right now. Not saying she's the best singer, or even the best performer. But she's the best for their band, INXS. Jordis has a beautiful voice, but I picture her more in a Throwing Muses/Belly/Letters to Cleo type group. Ditto for Marty, he needs to be in a more "serious" band. MiG I enjoy, but I still haven't seen him really do anything in the 'wow' zone. Ty has the energy down, and is probably the second best fit IMO (even if, again, he's not the best voice). He does have many weaknesses, though, and seems to be the least spontaneous (most rehearsed) of the group. JD can have great creative energy at times, but he makes an equal number of piss poor choices as well. Plus his singing isn't all that. Deanna just doesn't have the vocal range. On Tuesday she did a fine job, but her deep inhalation after every line would not cut it in an hour-plus concert.

Yeah the doc didn't excatly give Deanna's voice the a-ok. She really ripped into that song on Tuesday night though. I don't know if Suzie would benefit INXS in the long run. We all saw Tim's "plaintive" speech--I thought it was hilarious, and he was right, Jessica had to go. But you know, Suzie certainly has improved the most since the beginning so you never know...

Sorry, big Dakota Moon (Ty's band), Living Colour and Extreme fan here.
OK, convince me. I am NOT a Ty fan. In fact, he really gets on my nerves, both when he performs and when we see him outside the house. So convince me and tell me some Dakota Moon songs that I should check out to maybe change my opinion of him. Did they have any hits or something I would recognize? He just seems so Broadway, and I agree with another poster: Lose the tongue and DEFINITELY lose those plaid pants.

Dakota Moon had their biggest hit with "Another Day Goes By". The band had nice harmony, and I thought the albums were produced in a way that the vocals were the focus and not the rythms. They had a 2nd album that produced "A Place to Land." They did a nice cover of James Taylor's "Your Smiling Face" and were later covered themselves (by Garth Brooks, no less) with "Snow in July."

Sadly, neither album set the charts on fire, but (IMHO) they are solid albums that get regular play in my home and car.

You know, it's funny, Ty was one of my favorites early on, and yet every week I like him less and less

It must be the Justin Guarini effect.

Just read back earlier in this thread, people were raving about him at first and now they can't stand him.

I never liked him. Eh.

I never have really liked JD either, but I can't stop singing As Tears Go By after I heard him do it. I think that it is more than it is a great song rather than him doing a great job with it. Still, I think that he should not have been bashed like he was for it.

Mig was great. I can't see him not being the singer of the band, INXS. Marty is too angry and Jordis just wouldn't fit in with the band. JD is an asshat, and the rest won't make the top three (JD shouldn't either - he should be four).

Just to add, I think that most of the people that were raving about Ty based it on his stuff before Rock Star.

I said it several pages ago, but I still see mig winning this. I've been impressed with him from the start. As for Suzie, why do people keep voting this poor girl in the bottom 3? She's pretty good. I don't think she'll win but she definitley isn't bottom 3 material. Plus, how can you not like someone with a smile like hers?

My theory is that the majority of people in these types of shows (including Idol) pick their favorite in the first week or two and just stick behind that person week in and week out regardless of that week's performance quality. Suzie didn't do very well in those first weeks and thus never built up the following some of the others did.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mig's got the "info" that he's the guy. He's seems way more confident. I wasn't that impressed with his "singalong" with Jordis and Marty.

Ty's performance was corny. Although it's been said, I'll say it again, "Worst Pants Ever."

I agree. That's why Jordis is still in the top 3 and Suzie is barely hanging on. I was ready to see Suzie get the boot a few weeks ago, but she's improved by leaps and bounds. Wasn't she the one that screwed up the lyrics the first week? She's probably just finally gotten over her nerves.

What I want to know, is why on earth did Deanna throw her name inthe hat if she did not want to do the original song?

Just let the people who actually, uh, wanted to do it, compete.

I felt bad for the other people who wanted it, after Deanna complained and then basically handed her songwriting to Ty.

MiG's reaction when Cindy puts her arm around him from behind him was funny as hell.

Deanna will suffer some backlash from having Ty do her "original" song for her.

JD's still such a putz, after all these weeks.

Jordis doing Dream On? Could be incredible, could be horrible. I can't wait.

Because she has no charisma. She's just plain. And throw in the fact she cries at the drop of the hat, she's not going to win over many fans. I also agree that her first performance hurt her a lot as well. First impression was bad. As I said earlier, this is about popularity from here on out. It doesn't matter about the weekly performance. You will see Deanna, Suzie in the bottom 3 this week. By the way, are they going to change it to final 2 at some point? I mean soon its going to be everyone in the final 3.

I guess I am in the minority, I really like JD and think he should get the nod. I am also not that impressed with Mig, especially this past week's performance. But it seems to be wrapped up for him to get the gig. Hopefully JD will move on to bigger and better things.

it almost feels like the producers asked JD to act the way he does. If he was gone, there wouldn't be a "villian" that every other reality type show like this has. Its like they said "JD, you have no chance because we already picked Mig, but we'd like you to go out and act like an ass". its like he goes out of his way to do things like that.

On Sunday's "mansion show", I didn't like how Deanna acted. She was one of the few who did NOT raise their hand as to wanting to do the original song. Yet, once she and MiG got the original song slots, and she realized Ty would help her, she did a turnaround. She had better give Ty a lot of credit, as she would be lost without his help. I felt bad for Suzie, but it was her idea to throw names into the hat! (Deanna should have kept her name out if she really wasn't interested.) It didn't look like MiG was going to give in to Suzie -- as Marty said, MiG was told to fight for the song he wants last time. And considering what song Suzie got, MiG's better off with an original.

I think Suzie's main problem is that she looks sneaky. I don't know, she could be a perfectly charming woman--she just has this look. That's probably preventing a lot of guys to go ga-ga over her, and that "type" may prevent her from achieving a strong female following...

Has anyone ever seen the Allison Anders film "Things Behind the Sun"? Suzie reminds me of the female singer character of that movie, played by Kim Dickens.

Well, Suzie came off in the first episode as trying to undermine Marty's confidence, talking about his scratchy voice. And then, later, when she forgets the words to the first song she sings for INXS, I'm sure her fanbase just dried up from the start, and it's been an uphill battle ever since.

I'm not sure what a sneaky look is. If anything, I think she's cute. She is friends with JD. That probably doesn't help her any, but I still think it's because she got off to a slow start on the show.

I'm interested in hearing the original songs, but with only two of them, I'm not expecting much. When they thought they all were going to do originals, I figured there would probably be one that was actually good and the rest would be more like "Stop! Go!"

Jordis looks excited with her song choice. My money would be on her getting the encore if she likes Dream On as much as she says.
