Kevin just ended the E3 coverage and mentioned that Chris Hardwick would be guest hosting AOTS next week.

The whole summer is going to be guest hosts while they search for someone permanent and not do the right thing by just making Morgan Webb the other host.

Next week the co-host will be Rob Delaney. I've never heard of him before. I guess he's a stand-up comedian. Has he ever done any tech shows before?

I haven't really enjoyed the shows this week, so much so that I've just turned it off. The good news is that Hardwick is supposed to be back again June 25-29.

I don't know if they're actually trying these guys out to be the new host, but if they are they're really going to be pushing the age limits. The guy that was on this week is 35. Hardwick is 40. Scheer is probably in that range, Black is a little older, and Maron's pushing 50.
Don't get me wrong, Hardwick should just be given the job if he wants it, but they sure seem to be going well out of their demo for a new host.

Yeah, that, and anyone with even a modicum of experience hosting a live show is going to be well over 30 years old.

What's well out of their demo? Kevin Pereria? He's 30. Adam Sessler? Almost 40. Morgan Webb? 33. Olivia Munn? 31.
30-40 appears to be their demo.
Hell looking at a list of personalities on Wiki only 3 are under 30 and not by much:
Kristin Adams, correspondent
Blair Butler, correspondent for "Fresh Ink"
Jessica Chobot, correspondent
Chris Gore, anchor for "DVDuesday"
Blair Herter, correspondent
Grace Helbig, correspondent
Matt Mira, correspondent for "Gadget Pr0n"
Weston Scott, correspondent
Alex Sim-Wise, correspondent
Sara Underwood, anchor of "The Feed"
Pretty much.

Their target demo happens to be 18 to 24-year-old males. I think as long as the host is conversant in the social and cultural issues of that age group, they'll do fine. Most of their current staff is in their 30s because many of them have been around forever on the channel.

Matt Mira is hosting all this week. He did a pretty good job Monday. Also, Grace Helbig is on the show tonight (7/24), so I don't know if Candace is off today or what.

Sara Underwood's going to be the next "hot chick eating hamburger" for Carl's Jr. She just posted this vid. Nice cleavage.

Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
Kevin Periera was on TWiT about 3 weeks ago and he was really good.
AOTS cancelled yet? I heard the death rattle when KP decided to leave. What's left is now twitching. I can't even believe this show was once The Screen Savers.

Same. ![Frown](/images/smilies/frown.gif)
From about '98 to '05, ZDTV/TechTV was THE channel I would tune into after I got off work. So much really good programming for us computer geeks and Screen Savers was the best with Leo and Kate....it was still good after she left and Patrick joined. I really didn't care for the change to Attack of the Show but I watched anyways. In my mind it was an entirely new show not a re-boot of The Screen Savers. Kevin and Olivia had good chemistry so I was still watching up until about 2 years ago when DirecTV pulled G4 off their line-up. Now with Kevin and Olivia gone and Adam Sessler leaving X-Play, I no longer have a desire to watch G4.

Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
I probably watched 5 hours of TechTV every day. That was great stuff. Even after the merge with G4, there was still some good original programming. But it's gotten to the point where I haven't watched G4 for the past 2-3 months.
It's a shame that all these niche channels are becoming generic clones.
