The biggest thing this show reinforces to me is that you can teach technique, but you can't teach creativity. I think about this whenever I see a chef on the show complaining about having to think outside the box (not a lesbian pun), or trying so hard to be creative but coming up with something inedible.

Antonia plays it safe but cooks perfectly, Richard experiments and has hits and misses, Steph is an even medium.

Why is Lisa there again?

My problem with Lisa is her attitude. It's painfully obvious, the way she stands at Judge's Table with her arms crossed, the way nothing is her fault, and everything she does is great.

To me, Lisa seems more like a "cook" than a chef.

Good observation Jadzia, she reminds me of Eric from the earlier rounds.

I like the final 3+1. Spike had a great attitude on the show, and that at least made me like him..

But Lisa, what the holy hell, I wonder what she thinks when she watches herself on tv. She's a sourpuss lesbian. The worst kind.

Why? The shirt and tie thing is such an antiquated moronic element of conformist society: you can only be dressed propely by wearing pre-determined dess clothes. Hogwash. He looked presentable and neat. Why care that he is not wearing a tie? It's just ridiculous.

I have frequented one of the best restaurants here in San Diego on many occasions and while you see many in the suit/dress shirt tie thing, you see tons others dressed neatly in casual to very casual attire. I have personally gone to the restaurant in shorts and a golf shirt.

As for Lisa, I thought it was interesting that there is a slight bias against her with the judges, which along with Padme's "amazing pallete" comment indicates her food may be much better than the editing suggests. The guest "chef" LOVED her dish including the peanut butter potatoes but backed off a little when it ws clear the judges were somewhat pre-disposed to disliking it.

I took the "amazing pallete" comment as more of a "I have to say something nice here" type thing than anything else. Frankly if her food was better than the editing suggested she wouldn't have been in the bottom 3 what was it 7 times? I mean that's the majority of the season right there...

I agree with you in that we should not have to conform to a set dress attire but what he had on was TOTALLY unacceptable for an adult in that establishment.

I'm sorry but I do not consider a T-shirt to be "presentable and neat" in a nicer dining establishment like the steakhouse they were. Say you have a 10 year old who refuses to wear a nice shirt he could get away with it but at the very least if you could not wear a shirt that is not considered business casual then you should not wear it in a restuarant like that one. I'm willing to guess that the shorts you wore were probably khakis or something like that and not a jeans material for example and a golf shirt is definitely considered business casual as compared to the t-shirt he was wearing. So I definitely would not compare what he wore to what you tried to compare it to in your own personal experience. Your outfit falls on the more business casual side. Considering the other 2 guys both had on dress shirts and a sportcoat and basically every other person that was dining there had on AT LEAST business casual if not business dress he was definitely out of place. Just my 2 cents.

Back to the actual show, Lisa so needed to go last week but unfortunately I guess Dale was worse in their eyes for that particular episode. Personally as much as I am not prone to violence whenever I saw that scowl on her face at the judge's tabke I wanted to take a baaseball bat to it. Afinal of the 3 plus Dale would have been amazing in my opinion. Personally cheering for Steph since she is the local girl but would not mind seeing Richard win as well. Let's see what Lisa meant by her "amazing" food she is going to make for them next week.

Also: calling people "bro" when you're in your forties/fifties, as tonight's guest did to Spike, makes you look pretty silly. Unless you are a frat boy, burned-out hippie, stoner, and/or surfer, you should never use that word.
god, Ilan is a freakin' douche. great advice to the chefs - "don't shave someone's head". And i do agree, his attire was ridiculous. I'm not saying he needed to wear a tie - Hung and Howard weren't wearing one either, and they looked sharp and presentable. Hung didn't even tuck in his shirt, and he looked fine. But Ilan was wearing a freaking t-shirt and an Army jacket.

as for the "bro" thing, that was obvious he was taking offense at the scallops comment, and reverted to a defensive tone. So the "Bro" slipped out. I actually give kudos to spike for making that comment. but he still shouldn't have used the scallops.

If I'm not mistaken there was a pretty catty thread in other about a year ago that argued all about male attire...I'll have to look that up for another laugh. edit- found it! http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=509732

As for Lisa's palate, who cares? SHE CAN'T COOK RICE!

This has to be one huge april fool's joke by the judges on all of us.

I love how she was pissed off that they didn't congratulate her. Richard said it perfect, she came in third, whoopie.

It's going to be a tough final, well between 2 of them at least.

Long hair and personality are the last defenses for the disgustingly ugly. 0 for 2, Lisa.

Go Richard, although I would have no problem whatsoever with Stephanie winning. I"ll give up on the show forever if Padma calls Lisa "Top Chef." She would be an even more undeserving winner than that tool from Season 2!

Richard is the only one worth becoming a Top Chef this season who hasn't already been eliminated.

WTF? No way she is a top 3 chef. This has to be set up by producers to keep the drama going to the very end. Reality, shmeality.

This has to be a joke, there is a reason why Lisa was in the bottom every week. She really doesn't deserve to go into the final 3.

Well stranger things did indeed happen. What I found hilarious was that during the commercial break an advertisement for some product that uses a cute pig as its mascot was shown.....right after the chefs butchered the pigs.

I think this result just reinforces that they don't look much at history, and decide based upon that challenge alone. As for the congratulations thing, she actually has a point. If Lisa went and Antonia stayed, they would have hugged Lisa, said goodbye, then all shouted and screamed in happiness, hugging each other. Antonia WOULD have gotten congratulated for finishing third. That having been said, Lisa's a bitch, and there's a damn good reason she didn't get congratulated.
