Speculation -- Hiro really did kill Ando.
He killed Ando so that he could infiltrate the "bad guys." When he learns what he needs to learn about them, he'll travel back in time and prevent himself from killing Ando. Then Ando will be alive, Hiro will know who the bad guys are and what they want, and nobody else will be the wiser about anything.

I wonder if he really did kill Ando and if we're not about to see Hiro take a heel turn. IMO, they established that Hiro can be pretty bad-ass (remember season 1?), and if the writers can establish him as a sword-wielding samurai with abilities, I might be okay with it. The Hiro/Ando storyline has always been one of my favorites, but sometimes these things have to happen to progress a story.
As for my other question, what do folks think actually happened there on Level 5? Are they all dead, or is it an illusion? Also, are we to assume that Linderman is an illusion, also, based upon Parkman's dad being there at the end?

I honestly cannot remember a show that has ever tanked so catastrophically as this show has.
Good lord what a complete and utter FUBARed mess of a story-line. I'm absolutely convinced that not even the writers have any idea of where they are, where they're going, or what they're doing. Like someone said in last week's thread, this show has refined the use of "deus ex machina" contrivances to an art form. The writers keep painting themselves into a corner and then just invent whatever they need to extricate themselves. As such, you absolutely cannot invest yourself in the story. For example, when Hiro stabbed Ando last night, I didn't react with a "OMG, how could Hiro kill Ando!". No, I just shrugged my shoulders, uttered a "meh", and idly wondered what stupidity the writers were going to come up with next week to explain how Ando didn't really die. At this point, to say that Heroes has jumped the shark is a mammoth understatement.
Over on aintitcoolnews' review of this show, they quoted from Wikipedia’s entry on "idiot plot":
Well not only have the characters of this show fallen into idiot plot territory, the writers have fallen into just plain old idiot territory. They, along with the show runner, should be fired in disgrace.
For a show that had such tremendous potential, I feel only sadness to finally say that I'm out.

Hey, maybe that guy actually opened up a wormhole to an alien world.
...
sorry, I couldn't resist after all those Lost threads last year.
....
As for the series, I'm torn. I thought most of you complaining was over the top, especially since we're working within a comic universe. Unfortunately, I cannot get over the "idiot" factor, and I think Hiro "killing" Ando is a straw too many on the camels back. I'm sure they'll explain it away with a flashback where it was all part of the plan (yeah right), or he is saved by blood. Ironically, Hiro will think he's the innocent, but in actuality this will be what turns Ando. That or ironically ironically, it's all part of the master plan where Ando killing future Hiro was all part of the plan, and this was just the setup (I'm serious about the plot, but joking about the ironically on the last part).
I'm not ready to give up, but I think I may sit it out until the season is finished and then come back. I know a lot of series seem to play much better when viewed in a small window, rather than over the course of 9 months.

For those who are confused:
Everybody on the show is somehow related to everyone else, or will be.
Everybody on the show gets killed several times ... and often in different time zones.
Some people can borrow powers, some can control them, some have trouble staying in character.
Speaking of characters .... I sometimes get the feeling that the CGI guys go to the writers and say "Hey, look what we can make happen!" and then the writers come up with a new "hero" to show off the magic.

I'm really close to calling it quits on this. It's frustrating because the show could be so good and I keep hoping, but it continues to fail in so many areas.
I wish they would stop introducing new characters, focus on the ones already in play and get some decent development with them. As it is, I don't care about much about any of them or what they happen to be doing.

I cannot see this show making it to a 4th season if the ratings don't pick up... and considering it's such a continuation storyline with way too many characters, I just don't see new people jumping in to start following this show.

Maybe it's like that episode of Ren & Stimpy, entitled 'Black Hole', where they end up in the same place as all of the world's missing left socks, for which they're awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for returning when/if they ever get back to civilization.

Unless they go back on what they've already established, he killed him. The show earlier revealed that Hiro doesn't actually stop time, he just slows it to an imperceptibly slow speed. The speed girl was moving so fast that she could perceive time like a normal person while it was "stopped". Therefore if he had "stopped" time to trick them, she would have caught it.
