Ramsays constant overriding of the nominations kills a lot of the integrity of the show. He way as well just always kick off who he wants !

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of HK, but there is no integrity in this show. Between the misleading and overzealous promos, the ridiculous editing, and scripted scenes with the restaurant staff, this show has never brought the integrity.

I do think a "celebrity" edition might be fun.

If you're looking for integrity watch Top Chef. Hell's Kitchen is simply mindless entertainment. If you like watching Gordon flip out then most likely you'll enjoy Hell's Kitchen. If that doesn't really float your boat then this show probably isn't for you because that's really all it's about. It sure isn't about the food and each season is essentially exactly the same.

Integrity? Since when has this show been about that? It has and will always be about Gordon Ramsay. The so-called "contestants" have always been secondary characters.

I've also been watching a lot of Top chef and that must be the most integral reality show i've ever seen !

they always vote out who is genuinely the weakest, not keeping the 'characters' on the show for no good reason and it really is all about the cooking, very little behind the scenes drama

I wish other reality shows were like this

I think Gordon has the right to change his mind on who he thinks is the weakest link. The guy, even though he's a major ego maniac, has been a successful chef for a very long time and obviously knows how to run a business. Yeah there is a lot of influence from the producers, but still IMO it's fun mindless entertainment. Don't try to compare this show to Top Chef. Top Chef has always been about finding the best chefs in America and making a name for themselves in the cooking world. This show is more like watching a 15-year old learning to drive for the 1st time and the major growing pains involved. If these "Integrity" issues really piss you off, then I suggest you stick to only watching Top Chef then if you want to see smart cooks.

Bump:

Synopsis for 11 Chefs Compete:

Spoiler:

The 11 remaining chefs cook for a Bar Mitzvah, preparing fine-dining variations on the guest of honor's three favorite dishes. Later, the dinner service goes well---but not well enough for one contestant.

Wow. So... a really LAME episode tonight. Really lame. I was almost bored. Ramsay didn't even really blow up.

Not surprised to see Coi go, but Andrea was terrible. She should have been up for elimination too.

I get some of the "fake" aspects of it, but that whole bit with Jean-Baptiste and that other dude dropping the cake had to be scripted because it was just awful.

Not a great episode at all.

i dont know if its the "chefs" or what but i am really bored with this season. the flamboyant gay guy wasnt funny and the dropped cakes scene was so obviously fake. i think next season they need to change the show a bit.

This season has been good, but not up to caliber. The cake was definitely scripted.

This season was taped back in 2007. I hope the next one is a little bit livelier.

Really? This was taped 2 years ago? How could that be possible for them not to reveal who is the Chef at the Borgata for 2 years?

From Wiki

Season 5: 2009
Main article: Hell's Kitchen (U.S. season 5)

The fifth season premiered on January 29, 2009. There are 16 chefs.[6] This season was filmed back-to-back in 2008 with season 4.[citation needed] The winner will be employed at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey with a $250,000 salary.

Terrible episode. My gf and I have loved the last couple seasons, but everyone this season is such a bore. It's obvious that the people who stir the shit are only remaining on to keep up the drama. Not that I fooled myself into thinking it was all about the cooking, but still... Andrea should have gone home. Coi wasn't so bad. LA is gross.

Maybe the page was updated, because the page I got stated - "Season 5 of the American competitive reality television series Hell's Kitchen began airing on the Fox Network starting on January 29, 2009. This season was taped back-to-back in 2008 with season 4".

Andrea was interviewed on some local news station where she was from and the article said it was taped back in 2007.
The Hell's Kitchen episodes airing now were filmed in 2007. But the 16 chefs who competed for a $250,000 prize and a head-chef position at Atlantic City's Borgata Casino and Hotel cannot reveal the winner's name.

Re: Hell's Kitchen -- Season 5 Discussion Thread -- Premieres 1/29/09

Surprised that FOX kept this season on the shelf for so long. Now I'm wondering if last season (with Christina) was also taped awhile ago, unless they aired this season out of chronological order that they taped them as.

I read somewhere that you really sit so far away from the kitchen, you can't really see.

Not only that, but would you remember some people you saw 2 years ago? I know I don't think I'd be able to be like "Oh well she doesn't make it."

I'm sure they have to sign something, too.
