I saw True Colors on the list and thought someone from that group would sing it..risky for Anoop, but he's hovering near the bottom now I suppose.

Adam's intro video made a lot of sense.

... and a beautiful song too.

I figure you are saying the song he chose was beautiful, because you posted that before he even sang 15 seconds of the song.

EDIT: I hate Adam, but I think that was Adam's best performance...I don't think that was through any doing of his own, but just because he relied on the amazing cover by Gary Jules.

sucks for Adam, my DVR cut off, if I weren't watching it live, I wouldn't have caught any of his performance. Plus he got short changed on the feedback/face time.

Scott was the worst....I liked Allison, Matt and Adam the best

Adam's rendition was 'meh'... I just happen to like the Gary Jules version of the song.

That's what I'm saying. Gary Jules did such a fantastic cover and all Adam did was a sub-par carbon copy

Next on Fox News...

Is the sun hot?

I must say I think the most awesome part of that whole clip is that they cut the photos off just above the lips, to spare the audience from seeing such a horrifying image as two men kissing. LMAO

I thought it was rather ironic that they called out Lil for screeching, when that's become an Adam signature, though he thankfully didn't play that card tonight.

I think it's funny that they are all saying that people vote based on sheer talent, and then you can see the "Vote for the Worst" watermark on the photos.

Was that a bald mannequin they kept showing sitting in the audience?

Maybe I missed it, but did they explain how Danny was allowed to sing a song that was released in 1961?

What a silly question. Obviously a cover version was done in his birth year.

Adam sucked shit (again). I wish the guy would just *sing*. I don't have words for what he's doing.

Gary Jules kicked your ass son.

You are right. I did some checking and Mickey Gilley did a cover version in 1980.

My wife has fallen victim to his spell as well.

Look, the guy can sing. He just chooses not to for some reason.

Re: American Idol Top 8, April 7 & 8. Songs From the Year They Were Born

I stand by my prediction of Scott. He's definitely the weakest link, and that performance was awful. It sucks that the judges play favorites to the extent that they do. They treat him like a child that can't accept criticism- softballing the comments to such a ridiculous extreme.

I didn't much care for Danny. Glad he mixed it up, but that song was all over the place and none of it really suited his voice.

I thought that was Matt's worst performance, and the judges all praised it. I love his style, but just wouldn't feel compelled to vote after that forgettable performance.

Can't believe Simon gave someone a standing ovation. Why did it have to be Adam?!? Although, he did show remarkable control tonight. No eyeliner, only one big note, and no screeching. Definitely my favorite of his performances, but I still can't stand the guy.

Allison was the best of the night. The little changes she made really suited her voice and she really does seem to be channeling Kelly Clarkson. I think Adam may be her Justin Guarini- tons of stage presence, seems to be a natural, adoring fans ready and willing to vote for him... maybe he, too will never amount to much musically?

Anoop, Kris, and Lil were each alright, IMO. I do agree with the judges on one thing- Lil just hasn't shown much talent the last few weeks. She used to impress me, but now I can't remember why.

I think it appeared on the soundtrack to "Urban Cowboy" (John Travolta) that year too. Ryan mentioned it being Mickey Gilley's version I suppose to explain how he chose a 1961 song. Gilley's version was just a bit country-fied but remained faithful to the original -- nothing like what Danny sang.

They should have really limited the song choices to those that originally debuted in that year.

I'm a woman who hairsprayed her bangs 6 inches in the air and wore Z. Cav pants, but I'm not stuck in the 80's and I can't stand Adam!

Edited to add that I do have a friend stuck in the 80s who really likes Adam, so you may be onto something!

Hey . . . Well, to be honest, in the early 80's my hair was big and actually crunchy from excess Aquanet. You may be on to something . . .
