why was the island under the freakin water? where did desmond disappear to? this show is creating more questions than it is creating answers for to past ones. lame. well, at least i knew that the plan that faraday, jack, and sayid thought would prevent the incident, in fact caused it. right? just give terry o'quin the emmy award right now. he was the man tonight. as for ben, out of character for him to be completely powerless and useless. the guy is always a step or two ahead and is usually cold-blooded. hopefully he is scheming and gets payback.

I remember him and Jack had met before running up the steps of some arena, but I forget what the circumstances were.

There was no island for Desmond to wreck on, so he made it round the world

Not sure I remember the details of said race, though. I think he was using Libby's boat, is all I recall.

The race around the world would have never had the end as the island would likely have been underwater for years. I think were seeing two different results from two different 1977 outcomes. I'm hoping that the timelines do not merge as I think that it would be silly. You would have two of the same people co-existing.

And it sounds like Locke actually went on the walkabout, instead of being left behind.

I believe they will show his Black Rock story and how he became to be seemingly the right hand man of Jacob. I also think that we just got our answer about the question of his age.

Here's an EW interview with Darlton about tonight's premiere that answers some questions/brings up new ones (some spoilers, perhaps):

so if the bomb didn't go off, the incident wouldn't have happened? so by the bomb not going off, what sunk the island. the pocket of electromagnetic that faraday referred to had stopped before juliet made the bomb go off. so the em energy couldn't have caused the island to sink.

I was having a hard time placing the actor who played the translating hippie and then it came to me...he played Sol Star on Deadwood. Plus the Man in Black played Silas on Deadwood so now I'm hoping Ian McShane is a surprise character too!
Anyways, could someone help me remember when the man in black took over Locke's body? I know real Locke died by Ben, but I don't remember how/when Fake Locke came to be...

maybe in the NC timeline, jack fixes john's spine and they become close friends. either way, if they have this the entire season i will cringe. it just takes away precious time from the things we want answers for. didn't the creators say after last season that they were done with these flash-forwards, backs, ect...?
Also, there's clearly more going on in the NC alternate reality than just a "what if none of this ever happened" question. The thing with Desmond on the plane, the characters experiencing small moments of semi-recognition of one another, Christian's disappearing body, Charlie's "I was supposed to die" comment, etc.

The bomb goes off the island is sunk. The incident is the tapping of the pocket of electromagnetic energy as all of that equipment was being sucked in well before the bomb "might" have gone off. Bomb exploding created the alternative reality we see. The bomb not going off and the losties flash to the present create the on island reality we see.

And my memory of the details are a bit hazy, but I believe the numbers were being broadcast from the island and Hurley got them from a fellow mental patient who had heard the broadcast, right? So we can assume that the numbers he used in the alternate timeline weren't "bad," hence his comments about being lucky.

They want us to keep guessing and not know the answers beforehand. The island can't sink because of what we're seeing on the island as it is actually in the future. The original flight happened(s) in 2004 and what we're seeing on island is 2007 so they really can't even call them "flash sideways" as they're not happening concurrently.

Kind of meh for me. Too many new questions, zero answers on old questions, and characters STILL not asking the most obvious questions of all...questions like "WHY THE FUCK DID YOU JUST DROWN OUR FRIEND?"
Also, the last thing this show needed was new characters added, but looks like we've got a whole new group of islanders that of course we've never seen before. And two alternate timelines going, which means they can basically reboot the whole thing and simply drop in a few "ah ha" connection moments to fool everyone into thinking they aren't making this up as they go along. And a dude that can turn into a smoke monster but no one thinks to ask him directly about that.
Oh LOST...you never change, do you?

Kind of disagree that Jacob took over Sayid's body. When Sayid woke up he asked "What happened?" making me think that it was indeed Sayid talking, not Jacob.

How long before Sawyer tries to con Hurley in the No Crash timeline?
Why are things changed on the flight?
Why is Shannon in Sydney?
Good luck Hurley?
Desmond on plane?
Love. This. Show.
