Hey, guess what? Not everyone in the world would do what you would do in a given situation. Especially considering Jin's never even seen his child, he's emotionally unbalanced due to the fact he's reunited with his one, true love he hasn't seen for YEARS and because of that, he doesn't want to ever leave her again. I found it to be logical and believable. You could also say, "I act like a parent first....so I would never do what Sayid did!" Just because you would make different decisions does not mean their decisions are invalidated.
I don't think anyone is getting off the island.

I did laugh when they got into the gunfight at the sub. If I were Jack, the first thing I would have said to Flocke would be "Go get 'em." I mean, they have an invulnerable monster that can take out groups of people with no effort. In fact, he did it IN THIS EPISODE. But they still had to shoot it out with a bunch of people to take the sub, simply so Kate could get shot. Here's a tip, writers...don't give one of your characters super powers and then forget they have them.

Re: Lost -- "The Candidate" -- 05/04/10
My wife teared up pretty bigtime for Jin and Sun. I haven't felt a connection to any of the characters for years, so I looked at it much more cynically ("Man, the finale must be close...they are killing people off like crazy"). But it was a nice moment for them, I've always liked their characters and the actors. I'm choosing to forget the stupid "Can't Speak English" episodes and though it would have been nice to say something about their daughter during that scene, I understand it would have just made it that much harder to decide what to do for everyone involved. It can go without saying, IMHO.

At this point, I have no idea who's good, who's bad, or what the endgame will be. I'll just keep watching the last few episodes in the hopes that something gets resolved in some way that sort of makes sense.

It is not a stretch to think that Flocke, like Jacob has some precognitive ability.

Yeah. That why I called it Ben's list. Ben supposedly altered the list for his own needs. Like I said, I don't know if there is any significance, but it is a mighty strong coincidence.
If there is a power higher than Jacob and MiB, something that makes these rules that we keep hearing about, then it might have been manipulating events to bring these people to this point.

Wasn't it Richard who said something like he "saw everyone/them die"? How does that hold true now because he didn't see Sun, Jin or Sayid die (if they are in fact dead). If here was referring to all of the "other randum" people on the island he didn't really see all of them die either...
Something about that statement has always bothered me.

I presume Richard witnessed the bomb going off (from the bushes, naturally) and assumed everybody was blown up (when in fact they were blown back...to the future!)

Here is what I think. At the end of the show, when the "battle" comes to a close the island sinks, but more importantly all effects of Jacob and the island are completely removed from the ENTIRETY of their lives. We are just catching up to them on the plane, but their entire life to that point is different. Through fate or kharma or whatever you want to call it, certain events and aspects of their lives stay the same.

OK so no one has mentioned this:
Exactly how did they get back to the island?
They are on a sinking sub taking on water. They have tiny little cannisters of air for "buddy breathing", probably 5-10 mins of air. So they have to:
1. Wait until the sub is completely flooded so they can leave
2. Swim really hard away from the sub so they are not pulled down with it
3. Buddy breathe to the surface, which by this point is a few HUNDRED feet or more.
4. Do this all in 10 mins or so without getting the bends
5. Then swim back to the coast
I think "nuking the fridge" has been replaced by "escaping the sub"

Because they were evacuating the island when the "incident" started so I theorize that Ben and his father got off the island thus aged normally from that point forward...just in an alt reality.
You also have to keep in mind Ben's and his father's history had not changed. They were still in Dharma and if I recall right they mentioned they were lucky to get away or something like that. The other people left on the island somehow ended up in the alt timeline with slightly different histories.

#1 Ben was at the temple and Roger had just shot Sayid when the Incident occurred. It is very unlikely they managed to escape before the bomb went off.
#2 Roger didn't indicate that they were lucky to get off the island. He said, "Imagine how different our lives would have been if we'd stayed." Sounds more like regret. And definitely doesn't sound like the island was destroyed shortly after they left.

1) Wrong
2) The sub did not appear to be sinking at that point, it was merely taking on water.
3) What a massive drop in the sea floor mere minutes from the Island!
4) See above (i.e., you are wrong)
5) True.
Maybe nuking the fridge should be replaced with posting by johnnysd?

Man, I would have been pissed had I not already watched the episode. The cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly is Naveen Andrews with the caption "WE'LL MISS YOU, SAYID." I guess EW hasn't heard of dvr.

Scratch that. I just opened up the magazine and there are 10 collector's covers with all the main characters and all have the same caption. It's just meaning they will miss all the characters since the show is ending. I wish I would have gotten the Locke cover, but at least it wasn't Claire.
