Re: Lost -- "The Candidate" -- 05/04/10
This is why people don't see the answers in the show.
I have said all along and will continue to say it until I am proven wrong on the show that the island timeline will create the sideways timeline.
MIB said he had the power to bring Nadia back to Sayid. If he has that power, he can also bring Sun and Jin back. Unless he was just lying to manipulate them all into the same place...but it appears that there is going to be a reset.
Given clues: the scar on Jack's neck when he's on the plane in the first episode of the season matches the scar on his neck he got when the bomb went off. Dr. Chang is in 2004 and doesn't look a day older. So he's somehow saved from the past to be in 2004.
Somebody who does not think my theory is sound please explain to me how the things in the sideways timeline suggests it takes place after the events we have seen on the island during this season? What clues are you seeing to suggest that the sideways timeline is somehow going to "fold" into the island timeline and revive dead characters and put them back on the island?

I think it's time for us all to accept that Chang's age was a continuity flub. And it's too late for the writers to retcon it. What happened, happened.

Ben's list was some of the candidates*. But his list now reflects the candidates* that we have remaining.
*Kate may or may not be a candidate based which list you want to go with.

I don't think it was so much a flub as the fact that while on the podium, he had a pretty harsh spotlight cast on him, and we really couldn't wrinkles. It'll be a VERY large reach at this point to think Chang has any more relevance to this show.

When I watched the Hurley episode in HD I could have sworn that they added some gray into his hair. Hardly a production oversight. Not really a big deal IMO. Jack's cut, when shown during LA X, was higher on his neckline than what we saw during "The Last Recruit". He didn't even have a cut from what I could see during "The Candidate".

I did laugh when they got into the gunfight at the sub. If I were Jack, the first thing I would have said to Flocke would be "Go get 'em." I mean, they have an invulnerable monster that can take out groups of people with no effort. In fact, he did it IN THIS EPISODE. But they still had to shoot it out with a bunch of people to take the sub, simply so Kate could get shot. Here's a tip, writers...don't give one of your characters super powers and then forget they have them.
???
MiB wasnt really helping them at all. He wanted as many to die as possible. He just stayed close to Jack to make sure he would go into the sub with some injured losties, with the 'first aid bag'.
Jack stayed close to MiB so he could push him into the water at the right moment. Jack didn't see any danger around the sub at first so he concentrated on stopping the MiB from entering himself. His plan went to hell when Kate was shot.

Face it, that theory has more holes than mine!

You also have to keep in mind Ben's and his father's history had not changed. They were still in Dharma and if I recall right they mentioned they were lucky to get away or something like that. The other people left on the island somehow ended up in the alt timeline with slightly different histories.

That said, I don't think it would be out of the question for Dr Chang to have been around 35 in 1977, and around sixty in 2004 and not look much different. I've known a few people that haven't aged much in twenty-five years as long as they stay away from the sun, booze, drugs, cigarettes, and keep the same haircut.

I have theory that he's going to get shot by Juliet on the outrigger. (They still haven't revisited that scene from season five.)

This idea is still being floated around? I don't think they are going to introduce another smoke monster type creature this late in the game. I think any clues we may have thought to suggest there was one was just sloppy writing.

You must not be a parent, based on these comments. No way most people act the same way in that situation. I act like a parent first, a husband second. You are making a ton of assumptions about the kid and the situation. Wouldn't living you entire life trying to get off an island to see your kid and dying a far more fitting way to live than to just give up and die with your wife?

I HATE when that happens. Interrupt during the local affiliate's commercial time, not during actual programming.
