Been playing the snot out of Darkstalkers since picking up the unit yesterday. The controls take some getting used to...and the good ole Street Fighter movements take practice on such a small d-pad, and I refuse to use easy mode so I'm working it out No sore thumb This unit is pretty sweet It's still slightly bigger than I would like. The subway can get crowded and elbow space is at a premium...but that wonderful screen just finds a way to make room. Along with my son, the subway ride are the reasons I popped for the EB warranty.

Had more friends than I'll ever need this morning on the subway ride to work. It turned into me being a sony spokesperson answering all of the questions people had. A few of them hadn't heard of the PSP. They loved how Spiderman 2 looked on the unit. Next it turned into me telling a few of them how to put movies on their PDA...rookies

So, I copied some .MP4 files I found on some cell phone site, renamed them using the proper pattern, and copied them into the 100MNV01 directory off of MP_ROOT. PSP still won't detect them when I choose the "videos" option.
The video needs to be in a certain size that I cannot remember off the top of my head right now. I have a Mac and I use a utility called ffmpegx that has a nice option for encoding PSP videos in MPEG4 with the right screen size and audio frequency. Anyway, I managed to get 2 videos into my PSP-an episode each of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" (77MB) and "Deadwood" (133MB) with a 512MB Pro Duo card.

And, yet again, Penny Arcade fails to incite a single shed of laughter.

Spoiler:
sorry, but forum rules are that you have to say PA's not funny whenever someone posts their strips, right?

On another note I had problems getting my PSP to pick up my wireless connection at home. I have a linksys router and then a seperate linksys access point. The log for the access point showed the PSP connecting okay and then dropping off. It seems that the PSP couldnt get through the router to the internet?? In any case I was able to connect through my neighbors wireless with no problems. I was using the auto settings in both cases and scanning for available networks (both were found).

Exactly how much is a "shed" of laughter? Is that some new metric measurement?

Anyway - I brought my PSP to work today to show it off.

There are still a ton in my area as well, but to be fair Sony did ship a million units, that is a lot to sell through on the first day. If you still see the shelves packed late into the weekend, then expect the PSP commericals to hit the TV by Sunday evening.

Can you play the PSP on an airplane? I'm assuming there's some kind of mode to turn off all wireless...

I think I'm breaking down, and am going to head to best buy over lunch. If they still have some in stock, I will probably get one. With their extended warrenty, will I be able to exchange it if I get dead pixels?

Love the Franz Ferdinand song in the ads. Makes for a really rocking commercial that stays with you and much more "agressive" than the DS ads with the guy writing on a frosty window. DS has a hard time selling it's innovation I feel, especially with ads. Unless you use it it's hard to explain why "touching is good." Sorry I'm taking a marketing class right now so I have "Unique selling propositions" on my mind!

Well I sit corrected. I had read that Sony wasn't going to media advertise (beside the ususal reviews, product placements, and launch parties) until sales slowed.

Damn this Tiger Woods is a lot tougher when you are't playing as Tiger. No more 305 yard drives off the tee!

Damnit, I don't understand how I just spent $400 on a system that up until 2 days ago, I had absolutely no intention of buying. Ugh. Now I have to sit here at work for another 4 hours before I can go home and check it out.

Do what I did yesterday...

Charge your system

Go to the bathroom (you don't have to use it, you just need to go there and sit)

Play your system

If your superviosr questions the amount of time it took you, let him/her know that you're having stomach problem/virus from the lunch you ate. You can go into how much detail you like. When I start out saying stuff like my stomach hurts, I've never seen it that color before or it's like water, they don't want to hear the rest of it

Keep in mind no one questioned me, so YRMV

Untold Legends is basically a BG: Dark Alliance clone. A hack & slash type RPG. It's pretty decent. Graphics are nice. Music kinda sucks. Other sounds are good.

Anyone heard if they plan to bring Eternia or any of the other RPG's currently on PSP in Japan over?

Does anyone know if they're bringing Splinter Cell to the PSP? I have so much fun with the multiplayer on Pandora Tomorrow that this would be great if it was on the PSP. I picked mine up yesterday, and I haven't noticed any dead pixels but I really haven't tested it specifically for them. This thing is awesome. I picked up THUG2: Remix (havent played TH since 3), Twisted Metal: Head On, and Lumines. Playing THUG2 feels just like playing TH on the PS2 at least to me, and playing TM:HO reminds me of the hours I used to play TM2 on the original PS but with better graphics. Lumines is great, but I need to figure out why I'm so bad at it. I showed my PSP to my friend at lunch yesterday, and he and another one of my friends went out and each picked up one for themselves. I think this system is very impressive, and it will sell more by word of mouth than by advertising. You really have to see it in person, and play it to understand.

Just got up to Level 25 in Lumines! Geez I love this game, I can't say it enought I'm goiong to give Spidey2 another go. So far I really like it. It's a fun button smasher, and time waster...that's all it needs to be. To me Lumines is the game of the year! Who would have ever thought that...they were questioning it even being brought to the US.
