Still, nothing will beat the quality of the original UMD movie disk.

I used the 3g and it worked great. You just have to add a folder then a sub folder to the memory stick.

Here's some sites with free PSP encoded videos kids. Give them a gander and let us know how they look. I'm still at work so I haven't been able to even open mine yet!!

They are
3GP (mentioned already in this thread)
Rapiz
IPSP
Mobile Media Maker
PSP Video 9 (which I've been using)
When I get time I want to try them all out on the same clip (and on a few diffeent types of clips) to compare actual quality of output, encoding times, output file sizes, program features, and number of options in quality settings.

I stopped by a Best Buy on the way home from school, and they said they received about 500, and had about 300 left. I'm pretty peeved that I preordered it from bestbuy.com since now I have to wait until either Monday or Tuesday, and I had to pay for shipping. Oh well, I have finals tomorrow, so at least I won't have it to distract me from studying.
The only game that was sold out was Ridge Racer, and it was sold out at the 3 closest BB locations. Forgot my money at home, so I'm gonna have to go back sometime and get Lumines before that sells out too.
Does anybody know if Best Buy B&M will make an exchange for a bestbuy.com order? If I find dead pixels when mine arrives, I'd like to exchange it for another (assuming they still have some in stock).

Looks like only these launch games are online compatible:
Twisted Metal, ATV: Offroad Fury and four of the Sony sports titles:
NBA, Gretzky NHL and MLB.
http://psp.ign.com/articles/594/594772p1.html
Weird that the Sony soccer title isn't!
Also a shame that the EA sports titles aren't online compatible!

I don't have any dead pixels, but my left button (d-pad) is sticking. I haven't even played a game yet.
After posting, I can't get it to stick again. Weird.

Hmm... I was going to pick one up today, but all the talk about dead pixels and sticky buttons (I hear the square button is an issue) is putting me off a bit...
Dead pixels are a possible issue with any LCD. I'm not sure if it's rampant on the PSP or if it just seems that way because mainly people with problems are posting.

I was dumb and bought one today, in addition to my bestbuy.com preorder which is coming tomorrow. So I'm hoping that the B&M takes returns, or I'll have two...

Even towards the beginning of the week I had no intentions on buying a PSP, but I just couldn't help myself today. I went to Best Buy around noon, and they had a couple hundred of them left. I picked up the system, Metal Gear Acid and Lumines. They didn't have Untold Legends, so I went to Gamestop and picked that up.
I probably played Untold Legends the most, about 40 minutes. It is *very* similar to the "Champions" titles on the PS2, probably due to the fact that they were both made by Sony Online Entertainment. It is a pretty fun game so far, but I am still getting used to the analog stick. The graphics are very impressive and the load times aren't too bad.
Metal Gear Acid I only played for about 20 minutes, and most of that was just dialogue/tutorial. I can't tell if I like it or not, but it seems neat.
Lumines is a evil, evil game. I played that for a bit, and it is very addictive. One of the better puzzle type games I have played in a while.
One thing I really like about the PSP is when you turn the unit off, it doesn't actually quit you out of the game. That was really nice at work, so I could play in spurts, and not even have to save the game. That was a total surprise to me, and very useful. I do have to say that I dislike the super glossy finish on the front, I kept cleaning the thing due to all the fingerprints I could see on it.

The guy at my Best Buy said he was kind of disappointed in sales. While those coming in for the system were excited, there were not may sales overall and many left in stock. We are a college town, so I expected better turnout. One theory the BB employee had (from comments he had received) was that too many students were drained of cash after Spring break last week, so it will be some time before they can buy. So, I think I have a few days to think it over if I like.

not one bad pixel on mine.
there is a very, very, very small nick in the very bottom of the screen but I don't care since the colors/display are not affected one bit. now I just have to wait for it to charge so I can play it.

Well, I stopped at BB on the way home to pick up a couple of games. They still had quite a few PSPs in stock so I got one while I was there. I'll do a store return of the one I ordered online next week.
No dead pixels!
The screen is phenomenal, just like pretty much everyone has said. Hooking up to my wireless LAN was pretty easy. The hardest part was finding the MAC address (I couldn't be bothered to look it up in the manual).
I picked up Spider-Man 2 and Wipeout Pure. I wanted Metal Gear Acid, but they were sold out already. They seemd to have pretty good stock of everything else, except Lumines. My order for Lumines through Amazon was supposed to ship yesterday, but I just found out that it's now due to ship "by the 26th".
I played just a bit of Spider-Man 2, but I'm letting it charge now.
