Well I officially have dead pixels.
There's about 6 or 7 adjacent ones in the shape of a L off to the left center of my screen. I'm not sure what to do now... I'm sure best buy will let me exchange it, but will the next one be worse?
grrrr....

Personally I am having SO MUCH fun just doing all the "computer stuff" with the PSP. I guess I kinda lucked out that I already had a sony camcorder with built in digital camera so I had the proper usb cable. I have been having a ton of fun playing around and transfering video's, pics, and music to the psp, although I really need something different than that pathetic 32 meg card. :GRUNT:
Oh yeah, it plays games too.....I bought NFL STREET 2 and RIDGE RACER and they are both a TON of fun, but this thing has so darn much potential with all the non game related stuff!
Did I mention I have no dead pixels? (Thank you GOD!) My best friend and I both bought them at the same time, (he bought his first) and he has one dead pixel Should he return it for a new one, or just be thankful he only has ONE dead pixel?
Also, I cannot agree enough with the fact that you REALLY need to see this thing for yourself, cause any pic or video clip you've seen does not even come close to what you get.

I'd say its basically Champions of Norrath (which ofcourse is the same engine as Dark Alliance), but not set in the Everquest realm. They use almost the exact same interface and button configuration. Levelling and skills are pretty much setup the same way as well. It is a really fun game, although the environments and monsters leave a bit to be desired.
If this does well, I wouldn't be surprsied if SOE brings out a Champions title on the PSP soon.

I followed the directions in the link above, creating the two directories off the root etc. etc.
I cannot create .MP4 files on my computer because I don't have the power user access to install Apple Quicktime (which is needed to use the 3GP converter apparently).
So, I copied some .MP4 files I found on some cell phone site, renamed them using the proper pattern, and copied them into the 100MNV01 directory off of MP_ROOT. PSP still won't detect them when I choose the "videos" option.
What is the deal?

Nevermind, I didn't read your message correctly.

I don't know how reliable this is, but I saw over at IGN.com that Splinter Cell is in the works. I hope it has the multiplayer component.
A couple of games that I would like to see come to the PSP are Katamari Damacy, and Ace Combat.

has anyone had Best Buy actually give you the gift card and the 5.00 off on the same purchase? I bought 3 games and was told I can either get the 20.00 gift card or the 5.00 off, not both.

When I got my PSP at launch, I had them manually take the five bucks off and give me the gift card. They were kind of busy at the time, though, so they may have changed their policy. I certainly didn't expect to get both deals until one worker told me I could.
Sandisk also makes memory sticks which you can use. They're proprietary Sony media, though, so you won't find as many companies making it as you will other forms of memory. Any memory stick duo should work, up to 1 gig.

Here are a few reports from IGN about the launch of the PSP:

When I was in WalMart today, I actually thought about buying one for a second, since I got some cash to spend on whatever recently, but I remembered the deal about the dead pixels. Before I get one I want to make sure that all problems are dealt with.
While I was there, mainly just looking to see how many they had in stock (the case here was almost totally full, but Seneca, SC isn't really the biggest city) a mother and her 13 year old son was looking at them also. I believe it was his birthday, and she was going to buy him a gift, and he wanted a PSP. They didn't know the price of the PSP or anything, and a CSR was helping them out. He said the system itself is $250, and then you need to buy games, maybe a better memory card, and all of that stuff. She then said to her son "Good lord, by the time it's over we'll need to spend almost $400 before you can be up and going with this thing. You better think of something else you want."
Her son wasn't upset, he was just as shocked. I can see this being a huge problem all over the country though. There is a lot of money involved if you really want to get the best out of the PSP at this time.

That's why I'm not buying one. Pay rent or buy a PSP? $250 plus $150 in extras? The thing better cook me dinner and wipe my ass.
