I've downloaded the PSP 2.0 program, but I'm slightly hesitant to install it. I know, for the most part, nothing will go wrong, but I'm erring on the safe side.

I know that once you install 2.0, you can't go back to 1.5, however, anyone know that if I install the Japanese 2.0 update, I can later install the US 2.01 update? Thanks guys.

I am having the EXACT same dilemma.

My best friend went ahead and downloaded and installed the japenese 2.0 and he has not had one problem what-so-ever.

I was playing around with his psp last night, and thought it was AWESOME. It changes alot of things (for the better). Everything is in english, although its the "japanese" update, It works with whatever language you have your psp set for. I was VERY impressed with all the new features. I was thinking about installing the update today after seeing his newly updated psp last night, but I am still sort of hesitant because I dont know if I will be able to put future USA updates on top of it. I am probally just over reacting and being paranoid but the more I think about the $$ I put into the psp, I wonder if I should just wait for the official US release.

I dont know what to do......

The US release for 2.0 is August 12th. I'm still waiting...the new features aren't really that appealing yet.

So, are there any GOOD games coming out for the PSP soon?

Same here (posting this from the PSP now). The official US update is Aug 12 for those who want to wait.

No 2.0 for me, until I really need it (perhaps for Liberty City). Of all the features only the web browser and photo wallpaper have any real appeal to me. And there's not enough hotspots in my area to make the browser all that necessary yet. As of now the homebrew feature is too important to give up, until they come out with the types of games that I'm into.

Death Jr. - 8/16
Namco Museum - 8/23
World Poker Tour - 9/1
Frantix - 9/12
World Series Poker - 9/13
MediEvil - 9/13
Burnout Legends - 9/13
GripShift - 9/19
Madden 9/20
Tiger Woods - 9/26
Frogger - 9/27
Popolo Crois - 9/27

I'm looking forward to Death Jr, MediEvil, and possibly Namco Museum, GripShift and Frantix, depending on how they turn out. October on is an onslaught of PSP games that are too numerous to list.

I only wish the web browser would scale the web pages down a little. The side scrolling is a pain in the arse.

I wouldn't get too excited about Death Jr. I believe OPM game it a 2.5/5, which is a horrible score.

Official Playstation Magazine 9/1/2005 2.5 out of 5 50.0%
PSM Magazine 9/1/2005 7.5 out of 10 75.0%
Play Magazine 8/1/2005 9 out of 10 90.0%

This title is getting rated all over the place, its going to be a cult classic by the looks of it. I'm still excited until I can actually read a review.

It still looks like some WEAK games coming out. Burnout looks to be the best, but I'm going to assume that it will be better on a BIG TV.

Poker could be fun, but there are THREE coming out, I ahve to figure out which one is the "one to get"

I want to pre-order something from the GameRush deal, but nothing is saying BUY ME yet....what else in the future?

Obviously, I don't know what your gaming preferences are, so I can't recommend a game. Just head over to EB Games site and check out there "coming soon" list. I'll do you one better, here's a link:

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categorie...n&web_dept=PSP

Like I said, October and November have a rediculous amount of games coming out. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking about Liberty City Stories, SOCOM, Infected, and Daxter for must owns in my library. There are so many other games coming out before Thanksgiving that you will definitely find something you will have to buy.

In the web browser menu, choose VIEW (the small square with the A in the middle). Then choose DISPLAY MODE. Change from the default NORMAL to either JUST-FIT or SMART-FIT. Either of these will adjust the page to fit the width of the PSP screen.

The latest PSM says that Vice City: Liberty City Stories is a full fledge GTA. 3D, Carjacking, shooting, free roaming, etc. Expect this game to be released around the 360 launch, IMHO.

Yeah, it was just in EGM also. It's one game that I'm looking forward too. I guess it's pretty much a rehash of GTA3, but with a few new things

I believe you can scale it down. You have three views: Normal, fit to screen, and one other that I can't remember....

Finally read the full EGM review of Death Jr today and that game is definitely one to skip. Sad that a game with that much anticipation turns out that bad. The complaints in the review ran the gambit. Bad controls, too dark, boring level design, and so on. Maybe as a rental, but I can not see spending $40 on it. Pretty much all the portable games came out bad in the recent EGM. Nanostray and Pac N Roll both scored very low, Midnight Club got an decent score. Only Advance Wars DS got a good review, it scored silver.

Yeah, Death Jr. seems to be taking a hit from a few sources....I think even the OPM gave it sub-par scores. I'll rent it just to see what it's all about. They said the camera was horrible, and gave the one guy motion sickness.

Well, I just cancelled my order.

Hopefully, it will get better scores by other sources, but I can't see pay $40 for a game that is getting bad reviews. I'm even waiting til Coded Arms hits $20 before I pick it up.

A quick, very basic, question.

I have a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband router here in my room, which allows the computer on the other site of the house to get online using a wireless connection. Should this setup be fine for me if I get a PSP, for online browsing and online gaming?

yes....wireless router is fine. I know you can play AD-HOC games online also, but I think you need a wireless card in your PC too. But, for Infrastructure, you will be all set
