Cake is probably the band I would like to see most in Rock Band. The songs in general might be easy, but I think the bass lines would be pretty challenging. I prefer some older stuff like Jolene or The Distance before anything on Comfort Eagle though. Maybe they are holding off until they can add horns to the Rock Band experience...

Wow. That Muse song is just the shit, and I just decided to pick it up based on how much people have been wanting them in the game. I mean, I knew Knights of Cydonia from GH3 and it was cool, but I really had no more exposure to them than that. Granted, I haven't ruined it by trying bass yet, but guitar and drums rock.

Devo should be an interesting add.

So I'm on another forum, and they're all "Who the fuck are DEVO?" and "Why does HMX keep putting shit in the game?"

At least you guys know who Devo is, even if some of your tastes are suspect.

I was out and about today and saw the Official Rock Band Drum Silencers at Best Buy and decided to pick them up.

Stay away at all costs! They're fucking horrible! They made my drums quieter, sure. But they also made them so unresponsive that I had to hit them twice as hard to get them to register. Pieces of shit!

I'm glad you said that. I was just going to pick those up but I wanted a review first. So I take it the Ebay versions are still the best pads?

Just get a couple of these

This is a pack, but they should sell single sheets, they're what I've got on my drums.

I'd never heard of Muse before GHIII and fell in love with Cydonia so I picked up the RB track no questions asked. I love it. So the question begs, what album does a newbie start with?

Their latest album, Black Holes and Revelations, is probably their most consistent and would probably the best one to start with. Absolution (which features Hysteria) and Origin of Symmetry, in that order, are not as heavy on the synths but don't quite maintain a consistent level throughout the albums. They still have quite a few strong tracks, however. Their first album, Showbiz, didn't do much for me.

my friend just took some gauze and wrapped it around the ends of the sticks about a half inch thick, and taped them on. The drums are very very quiet now, and take just as much pressure to hit now, just a tiny bit more front heavy though, but that's to be expected.

What kind of kit do you have? I've got an EL, but there are also QM and SL models as well. Maybe they work better on different models.

I just checked, and mine's a QM. My kit has these hard plastic raised rims around each drum head, and the silencer pads sit on top of those rims. You have to make sure you push down the pads in the middle and around the edges to make sure that it's touching the drum head completely. If there were any gaps between the pads and the drum heads, I could see that causing sensitivity problems.

I think my recommendation would be to buy the official drum silencers from a brick & mortar store so that you can easily return them if they don't work for you. For me (and brianluvdvd), they seem to work quite well. They're much quieter, they give you a little more bounce, and they don't seem to affect sensitivity. But it sounds like results may vary, possibly based on drum kit model or other factors.

Son of a bitch. I had some friends over last night and as we set up, my drum kit just went out. It doesn't get recognized as a controller anymore. And just last week, I threw out the warranty information. Does anyone know how long the warranty lasts and/or where I need to call to get a replacement?

Go here for product warranty and replacement.

I got my RB on the release date and had my drums fixed as recently as three weeks ago. Right now, they're pretty much not holding anyone to any time frame on the warranty.

Hate to derail, but beg to differ. Absolution is exceptional (and accessible) from cover to cover. BHaR is almost as good, but has a couple of forgettable tracks. Showbiz and OoS are both excellent too...though maybe not quite as strong as their newest two.

If you can get the version of BHaR with the Absolution tour bonus DVD, that would be the best way to go, as you'd have a lot of both, and it's a great DVD. Here's an ebay listing for one...just the first thing I found:

I am a monster Muse fan, and I think the best route for any new Muse fan is:

Absolution
BHaR
OofS and Showbiz

I think Showbiz is really underrated and on par with the other 3. Unintended is my favorite slow song of Muse.

Either way, start with any of the 4 and if you dig the whole album, you will like the other 3.

Just ordered Hullabaloo Soundtrack to hear the B-sides. Only Muse stuff I haven't listened to yet.

Thanks for the Muse help guys. Not sure when I'll pick one up, but I definitely want to check them out.

Nice. I like the express replacement. Send you the fixed version immediately, and wait for your broken version to be sent. I should have something back by next week.

Something funny happened too: Since I don't have drums all I could do was go back and do guitar. I had bought about $20 worth of DLC on Saturday so I played through the songs on Medium. I was getting a bit bored and went to do Career Mode in Hard. I haven't failed a song yet, and I couldn't do Hard last time I played a few months ago. I'm sure I'll start having trouble once I get to the Enter Sandman, Green Grass, etc.
