I've been getting most of my games there for about the last 6 months due to their deals like this. You just need a SYWR card (shop your way rewards with email messages enabled) and the $30 coupon will print with your receipt. You also get the standard rewards from the card, too.

Bad news, Decker : IGN review of Green Lantern confirms it's a DLC code for the Batman skin included with the Blu Ray. Bummer.

As for the actual deal, it's a reward card like Best Buy. Swipe your card when you buy it and the coupon prints out. I guess the only thing that could be considered a "catch" is that the $30 coupon isn't active until the following week though. It prevents people from buying the game, returning it(and keeping the coupon)-then re-buying the game with the $30 coupon.
I was considering Arkham City as a rental, but I think this $30 deal is swaying me into a purchase.

So clearly the PS3 version is better, right?

After 2 hours of play, I'm calling it. Batman: Arkham City is 2011 GOTY. It's possibly the most flawless and perfectly executed game I have ever played. There is just so much to do, and every single item in the game is incredibly detailed. I just don't see how anything can even come close this year, or probably even next year.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread
LOL, is this some sort of sick joke? I've been playing UC3 since June....trust me. Batman destroys it UC3 isn't even close to as polished, fun, or deep as even the first batman, let alone Arkham City.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread
You've been playing the Story Mode of Uncharted 3 since June? I find that hard to believe, but please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm more inclined to believe you've been playing the Multiplayer Beta since the end of June; and if that's the case, you can't exactly judge the quality of the real game based on a beta version of the multiplayer mode.
EDIT: And for what it's worth, Uncharted 2 > Batman: Arkham Asylum. Batman was great and all, but I don't think it has the same replayability as Uncharted. And honestly, by the time I finished the game I had had about enough of the repetitive combat, especially when it came to the fighting the Titans.

Anyway, regardless of my being a Batman fanatic, I have to agree with discostu about AC being a serious game of the year contender. Someone on youtube has uploaded the first two hours or so of the game, and I have watched it. Going by those two hours alone, if AA was a 10/10, then AC is a 20/10.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread
I've beaten it dozens of times in every damn language, gotten platinum numerous times, and go back to play it again tomorrow. We all agree it's a huge letdown from UC2 in nearly every aspect.
FWIW, here is how I would rank the games:
Uncharted 2: 9/10
Batman AA: 9/10
Batman Arkham City: 10/10
Uncharted 3: 7/10 (being VERY generous)
I'm not making any money off saying Batman is awesome, I have nothing to do with it. I just wanted to quickly tell you guys that the game is amazing and you all should be very happy on Tuesday!

And what kind of developer would say their game isn't awesome? No developer does that.

Sounds like he's a playtester, not a dev. I would never trust a playtester's opinion of the final product. They have to deal with too much crap to have a realistic view.
Now that doesn't mean UC3 > B:AC, I'm just putting it into perspective.

Yeah uh huh sure. If you actually were one of the people working on the game, you would have had to sign a nondisclosure contract preventing you from talking about it or else you would be fired and/or sued.

Okay. I totally expect Arkham City to be absolutely great and a HUGE seller. The first was pretty close to perfection and I'm expecting this to be better.

You said you would "spoil the hell out of it if we didn't believe you." A nondisclosure contract would prevent you from doing that. I would assume that anyone working on the game, even the playtesters, would have to sign a nondisclosure.
And yes, the opinion of someone who plays a game casually for fun is going to be vastly different from someone who plays a game 40 hours a week as a career. Even the best game in the world will get very tiresome if you play it that much. Also saying that UC3 is not polished is funny coming from a playtester who is playing the unfinished version. Of course the unfinished version is going to be unpolished. You are playtesting so that it will hopefully be polished for the final product. There's a huge difference between playing a finished game for 8 hours in a week versus playing an unfinished game for 40 hours in a week. I bet if you were a playtester of AC you would be saying bad things about it too...

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread
I'm not saying Arkham City won't be Game of the Year, but just that I'll reserve my judgment until I've played the finished versions of both. I think any reasonable person would take the same stance.
And obviously, even after everyone plays both, there's still going to be a difference of opinion. I loved Arkham Asylum, but found Uncharted 2 to be the better of the two games, especially when it comes to replayability. I think for me part of it was due to the fact that in Arkham Asylum once you completely cleared an area you might still have to go back that way later on, but there wasn't anything to do there; and as I mentioned before sometimes fighting thugs and titans got tedious for me. kgrogers1979 obviously disagrees with my assessment, which is fine, but at least he's played through the final version of both games before forming his opinion.

As I stated in the UC3 thread, I work for Sony and am sadly STILL working on this game. I'll spoil the hell out of it for you if you don't believe me

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread
I have played both finished versions... Really don't care what you have to say or what you believe. Not going to argue about Uncharted in a Batman thread. Batman is the shit, UC3 not so much.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread
And in any case, the only reason I've continued the discussion this long is because you came off as extremely obnoxious when you threatened to spoil Uncharted 3 if I didn't believe you had played it. Arkham City may well be the game of the year, and it looks like it's a serious contender, but there's other games that could give it a run for its money when it's all said and done.

Not sure why anyone doubts discostu. He always gets a lot of games early. Check out his gamerscore.
Thanks for the early impressions discostu, I might have to pick this up at Kmart for the $30 credit.
