Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

I had another glitch last night that made me waste twenty minutes wandering around the stupid nursing home before I just started the part over. One of the cut scenes only played half of what it was supposed to and it wouldn't let me leave and since there wasn't anything left to find I was pretty much stuck.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

I'm a little bit past "Trial #4".

"Trial #2" spoilers:
Spoiler:
I had a tough time with Trial #2, specifically the part where you navigate through the power condensers. I screwed up enough times to fail, and it forced me to use the "coward" door. I was kind of annoyed by that. I'm hoping that I can complete the rest of the trials and get enough of the address to figure it out.

"Trial #4" spoilers:
Spoiler:
As for Trial #4, wow. I disarmed the drug dealer, pulled my gun out, and then I could either put it away or fire. I almost put the gun away twice, but based on the fact that I failed Trial #2, and my assumption that the killer would accept nothing less than actually killing the guy, I pulled the trigger. Even though I was doing it to save my son, and the drug dealer was a sleazeball that just tried to kill me a few minutes prior, I felt really, really shitty about doing it. I almost felt mad at the game for forcing me to make a decision like that, which I think illustrates how effective it is at telling the story and pulling the player in.

Did anyone put the gun away at that point? What happens? My initial thought upon receiving the trial instructions was to set up a fake death scene, since the killer just wants a still photo. But I wasn't sure if it would give me that kind of option, so I went for the straightforward approach.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

Was going for a second playthrough yesterday to pick up some trophies I missed, and already ran into an issue in the first level. I followed all the steps for the trophy and the game locked up at the loading screen staring at Ethan's face. Frustrated, I tried replaying it and the trophy wouldn't unlock. My guess is that the game thinks I already have the trophy and I won't be able to get it now. I'll try again later but oh well

If I ever have to hear the name Jason again I'll scream. Especially since some of the ways that he says the name are really annoying. I like the game so far though. A nice change of pace from the run of the mill stuff we get.

Jason!

I agree, though. They could've recorded more than two takes of him yelling Jason's name.

I keep expecting to hear "You're tearing me apart, Lisa!" in this game.

Nice spoiler tag.

I only pressed the button intermittently, so maybe that's why I only got two readings of the line.

I'm kinda torn on this game. On one hand it seems like a really good story game that i would enjoy. On the other hand i cant stand QTE. Is it possible to not do any of them since you cant get a game over screen?

I was thinking the same thing. There was a scene with Madison and Ethan
Spoiler:
where she is taking care of him after finding him at the hotel. I tried to give him sleeping pills just for the hell of it, and she's like "Oh I can't do that!"

Why the fuck not, bitch?

Get the demo. It'll let you see if you dig the game or not.

It convinced me to get the game after it drops to $30 or less.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

Just finished the game, it was an amazing experience. I can understand a lot of the hate for the game but it's doing something different and with all the nags about bad story writing I still think it better than most games. Now to get the other endings. Also I had not glitches, trophies not unlocking or locking up during the game. I have a launch PS3 too, seems odd that so many people are reporting problems.

Good luck with that. Sony exclusives typically take forever to drop.

I know I'm in for a long wait (I think now is when Heavenly Sword finally dropped in price by a mere $10) but I'm sure a sale will come along eventually. The demo killed my excitement for this game enough that I may even forget about this game by the time it drops in price.

I wanna play it but it's far from a priority at this point.

You could rent it and play through it once over a weekend.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

Sadly, Blockbuster has all but vanished in PR. There's literally none left that isn't several hours away from me (if they too haven't closed). My local rental doesn't stock PS3 (or 360 for that matter) games. And Video Avenue is about 40 minutes away (and I don't have a membership there anyway cos I rarely see much of a selection of games and 40 minute drive is a retarded distance just to rent).
