Just finished man I got the crap ending.

Spoiler:
Everyone but Shelby dies. I knew I should not have let Madison jump out of the burning building.

I don't think so, though I think Blockbuster Online does.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

Finished this yesterday, pretty good, I enjoyed it. The ending I got:

Spoiler:
Ethan denied Madison a kiss, Jayden decided that he wanted to die while using ARI (with no warning whatsoever, thanks game), didn't make it through powerplant and didnt drink poison but guessed the right location of my son. Madison made it out of the fire and met ethan at the warehouse, ethan saves shawn, shelby shows up and shoots ethan, madison fights shelby up on this crane thing and is about to shoot madison before ethan comes up and shoots shelby in the back. Ethan gets a house and lives with his son, madison writes and book and is at a book signing, blake finds Jayden's ARI and puts them on and jayden walks in (in ARI, not in real life) and Blake pisses himself) and then it shows Shelby's grave.

Now I want to play through the last third again now that I know how to keep them all alive. When I press a chapter and press save, it says "your saved game will be lost, continue?" Does that mean I lose all the chapters and epilogues after it or just where the "continue story" triggers? Do I lose bonus stuff too?

Checked Gamefly. $16 seems pretty steep for just one game.

I haven't played it in a couple of days. Trying to make it last but with MLB 10 and FFXIII coming in the next two weeks, I should just finish it up.

If you want to avoid your regret

Spoiler:
Have madison pull an Indy Jones and jump in the fridge. Nuked the fridge!

I was laughing out loud when that worked.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

Got it today, beat it today, yeah I played for a while. My ending:

Spoiler:
Madison died at the Doctors. The Bible guy kept insisting on selling to the Doc, and eventually he got hit with a baseball bat. I sucked at getting out of the restraints (though I figured it out when replaying the chapter). Ethan died as a result of Blake's order to fire. Jayden accused Blake of being the killer and he got kicked off the case, and he subsequently left the FBI. Shelby gets off free (I let him live as Ethan), but Lauren Winter finds out he was the killer and shoots him.

But now when I try to replay chapters, the screen goes black and it won't load. That's among other glitches I have experienced, including eggs that float in thin air above the stove.

Man some of you guys got some horrible endings, you must suck at pressing buttons
I assume I got a good ending. It's amazing how different they all can be though!

Spoiler:

I guessed the right location with Ethan. Jayden Figured out the location as well. Ethan shows up and saves Shaun, while Jayden kicks Shelby's ass and he falls to his death. Madison does some random motorcycle tricks in the parking lot, then runs in past the cops. They all come out and the cops leave them alone. Madison and Ethan get a place with the kid. Jayden is super FBI badass on a tv interview, but trips out a bit and sees ARI tanks without his glasses on. He flushed the drugs though. Lauren goes and spits on Shelbys grave. The end.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

Well I finished it over the weekend on the harder of the two difficulties, I got a pretty shitty ending (same ending as discostu) was hoping
Spoiler:
Lauren would go nuts and become an apprentice

Overall, a nice throw back to old school adventure games. Shenmue with a serial killer.

I like bluetoast's ending better

got it coming from GameFly today or tomorrow. how does the difficulty work? is it just quicker QTE? any reason to not play on Hard, since you can't lose?

It's probably easier to get the uber-happy ending on the easier setting, and yeah it's just quicker, more complex (analog stick) QTEs.

But still - I absolutely love this game. Favorite part so far, was putting the baby down a little too hard, and watching her spasm in a crying fit.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

Finished this over the weekend. My first ending:

Spoiler:
I had everyone survive to the final scene. Then I screwed up the QTE with Madison and she got arrested. After that, I screwed up the final QTE with Nawman while fighting Shelby. Shelby demolished me with one sledgehammer hit and I fell into the shredder. Ethan did save the kid at least, but then he went outside and got gunned down. In the epilogue, people were praising Madison for her book telling the truth behind the case, yet the final scene showed Shelby walking free down the street. That part was a little weird. In a sense, it seemed oddly appropriate for such a dark game to have a downer ending where most of the good guys died and the killer gets away. The only real positive was that Shaun and Madison both survived.

I wasn't too happy about getting a crappy ending due to three missed button presses, so I was pleased to see that I had the option to replay that scene.
Spoiler:
This time I didn't mess up any of the QTEs. Madison got into the building to talk to Ethan. Nawman knocked Shelby down, helped him up from the ledge, then knocked him back down into the shredder after he started to fight again. So, basically, all the good guys lived and the killer died. I hadn't kissed Madison in the earlier scene (seemed a bit out of character for a dude who just killed a man, still has one trial left to save his son, and is running out of time), so it was just Ethan and Shaun looking for a new home together. I was pretty happy with this ending.

Playing through the game was a really refreshing experience, and it's a much better, more consistent game than Indigo Prophecy. I hope that there will be a good amount of DLC for the game, and hopefully even another game in a similar vein where they fix a few of the remaining issues (occasionally awkward dialogue, spotty voice acting, and "uncanny valley" weirdness).

For your second one, I had the same ending but
Spoiler:
the weirdness of the sex wasn't quite as bad since I didn't shoot the guy in Trial #4. But it was still odd considering how the two of them talked for a grand total of like 5 minutes beforehand. Thats one hell of an attraction hahah. But yeah, she moved in with them, must of been one hell of a good lay.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

Since some of us have to wait for the PSN crapfest to get fixed before we can play again, I was thinking about what I'll do differently the next time I play it. In the very beginning, I am curious to know how many of you...

Spoiler:
...let your son beat you in the sword fight? I was doing all of the gamepad moves and then thought "Hey! It's his birthday so I should let him win." so I just sat the controller down and let him win. :-)

spoilered for those of you not buying the game until 2012. :-)

I didn't. Screw that little bastard

I just finished the level where Jayden
Spoiler:
gets into the fight with Angry Jack or whatever his name was at the scrapyard. Pretty intense

Also, the level with Ethan
Spoiler:
and the doper. I shot the fucker

Oh and Scott's visit to the
Spoiler:
clock/typewriter guy, I think I left a print behind because they dragged me to the police station

Last but not least, Madison and her crazy visit to
Spoiler:
the doctor's house. I took the drink, and managed to escape and kill the doctor.

Very cool stuff. For those that finished the game, how much farther do I have to go?

You aren't far from the end, a handful of chapters to go.

Spoiler:
The important thing is you really need to get laid
