So you're making the assumption I only used my 17" laptop? I also viewed it on my 42" 1080P screen. Believe me I wanted to see a significant difference but didn't.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Digital Foundry just posted a deep dive into one developer's experience with the Wii U in the lead-up to launch: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...e-inside-story
Since I've never developed a game -- let alone one with hardware/SDK in flux! -- I don't have a point of reference, but this sounds pretty brutal. If this experience was typical, no wonder third parties turned their backs on the console.

The article actually doesn't seem that crazy as far as new devkits and difficulty goes. Its everyone seeing how underpowered the system was from the get go that makes Nintendos choices a head scratcher. I'd be interested in seeing an inside look from Microsoft, given all the rumors and changes for the Xbox. I imagine it isn't that different.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Nintendo announced their revised projections, and...ouch.
They originally forecasted 18 million 3DS sales this fiscal year; down to 13.5 million now.
3DS software sales were estimated for 80 million units; now down to 66 million.
9 million Wii U consoles -- now forecast for 2.8 million (yikes).
The anticipated 38 million Wii U software sales are now halved to 19 million.
Iwata will not resign, and there won't be any extensive management shakeups. I love my Wii U, and I want to see the console succeed. Hopefully these dismal numbers will force Nintendo to stop plugging its ears and pretending that everything's going swimmingly.

I still think $200 is the magic spot for the Wii U.

I think price is a factor but not the biggest deterrent. Nintendo needs to find a way to make people want the Wii U. Right now, the apathy is so deeply ingrained that even the people who already own a Wii U aren't buying the super-highly rated Super Mario 3D World in big numbers.

At least for me that is the biggest thing I see missing.

Price is the major deterrent for me. I want Pikmin. I want Mario World. I want Wind Waker. But I do know that other than a handful of titles, the WiiU has limited uses in my household. I predicted a price cut around this coming E3 because of the XO and PS4 launches, these sales numbers are a harbinger of that.
There is no other way to play the Nintendo franchises so I really do want one, but I can't justify the console's cost and then the rarely-discounted software titles. It's a losing combination.

I would buy another Wii U (sold mine months ago) at $199.
< $200 is impulse territory for me.

Yeah, I'd buy one at $199 easily. I've actually been contemplating it for a while as my son has now taken over the living room with wanting to play Kinect games. I could park him on the couch with the controller and then continue to do what I want to do.

For those saying $200 is the magic price, I'm surprised the Best Buy xmas deal wasn't more tempting. That's what pulled me in. $300 for the deluxe, New Super Mario U, New Super Luigi U, ZombiU and a $25 giftcard, which was then used to get Wonderful 101 for free (after GCU 20%, would've been $5 otherwise). The fact that it was the same week as a 100% trade-in bonus and I wanted to cut my pile of shame in half sealed the deal for me. Between the sale and filling out the rest of the games I wanted with Hastings 50% off used sale that week, I feel like I was able to get in on the console at a pretty affordable price. That said, I'm guessing this holiday season will see even better deals, though I don't know by how much. I guess it depends what games you want.

I didn't notice that particular bundle but I doubt I would have jumped. Besides the fact that Christmas isn't the best time to get money out of me for me, it's not a $200 deal. It's $300 out of pocket and really only a good deal if you want every single one of those games and use the $25 GC.
Not every bundle is a good deal to every costumer.

I could be wrong but I don't think it will go down to $199. $249.99 yes. And then after specials and promos it would average the lower price. MSRP of $199.99 maybe in 2015.

Amazon has Wii Party U for $39.99 (with a black controller). It popped up in my Gold Box with another 5% off. We really enjoy this game.
