@Xbox: We can't believe we have to say this, but please do not blow vape smoke into your Xbox Series X.

That is the case... no "re-downloading". It took a bit to transfer games from my external drive to the SSD, but that's the only waiting game.

Yup, now that I set it up, I can confirm, however I did come up with a problem. The main SSD is the default installation space so all these patches for the games (I think) are getting installed on the SSD, and now it won't let me move the actual game, which is on the external drive, to the SSD (it says it's already on there) or vice versa. I'll probably have to delete and download, but considering how long just the game patches took to download (that Gears one is a doozy) I won't do it anytime soon I guess.

I think this is the same on the Xbox One (which shows how little I played it) but when you look at your installed game library, is there really no easy indicator of which games need a disc and which are purely digital?

No, but they do show everything else now (EA Play, Gold, GamePass, Trial, etc) It only shows the digital owned games when looking at the list of GamePass and EA Play games in their sections... can't remember if the same is true for the Gold section.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

To anyone who has a Series X/S...does the xbox automatically change the tv source/input when you power up the Xbox? I know previous gen, Xbox One did not, while most other systems did. I've looked everywhere online, and haven't found an answer.

Thank you in advance...

Mine does not. Only my Switch does that for some reason.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Had my first crash. A loud buzzing noise followed by a power down. I was playing AC Valhalla at the time. None of the buttons were responsive right before it happened. I had been playing a good couple hours at the time.

The Switch dock is enhanced HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) while the XBox One/Series are just HDMI.

Basically, CEC allows devices to control other devices over HDMI. If your Apple TV is connected and CEC is on for all your equipment, you can use your receiver or TV remote to navigate it. For the Switch, it autoswitches to the input and turns on the TV if necessary.

Actually I do have an Apple TV. I’m trying to set up my Harmony Remote with the Series X. I was able to with the One X but I’m not able to with the Series X. Maybe because it’s new? I want to be able to one touch and turn everything on.

My PS5 does that. I have never had a system to do that before.

You may have enabled HDMI CEC during initial setup. If you don't like it, both consoles should have an option to turn it off somewhere in the settings.

My Series X disc drive is... loud. Not so much when playing a disc, but the eject/insert actions... Oh my. It's clunky and I can feel it shake the console a little bit. I don't think my One X drive was nearly this clunky. Hopefully it holds up over time...

Not that this will make you feel any better... they are supposedly the exact same drives...

Yeah, I read that too. That's why I'm kind of worried about the one I've got.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I figure by the time my Series X craps out, the price will have gone down and they'll be widely available

Knock on wood, the last time I had an issue with an Xbox was the 360 back in the red ring days. My Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X all performed flawlessly.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I'm still running a launch Xbox One. I had the red ring on the 360, but MS replaced it for free. Never had an issue with my launch OG Xbox either.

Yeah, Xbox 360 was their disaster, the others have been fine for me.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

The optical drive died on my launch XB1, but that's the only issue I've had across my 6 (!) different Xboxes. AFAIK, even my 2002-era OG Xbox is still alive and kicking. (It powered on when I last tried it around 3 years ago, anyway.)

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Got my Series X yesterday...without doing a full review, my first 2 noticeable upgrades in this system vs the One:
  • HDMI CEC (as someone else mentioned it's called)...As soon as I turn the system on, it turns the tv on, and changes the input to this system (something my old PS4, Switch, and Apple TV do, but not the Xbox One)
  • Plugging in the controller to charge...it was always a hassle trying to plug in the micro usb into the Xbox One Controller...seems they've changed the port slightly on the Series X/S controllers, as it much easier plugs in

Beyond that...love the speed in games (really fast loading times)...and NBA 2K21 looks/plays incredible

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I'm guessing the new controllers use USB-C which is much easier to plug in since it doesn't matter the orientation of the plug.

Yeah, both new console controllers are USB C
