seriously. How do you launch a new generation console, with updated everything, fast and cool ass shit and not have

1) a single, brand new, awesome launch title. I’m not including the ones that were made for One and are just optimized for X, even though it does make experience better, but infinitely better? Not so sure. Outrider takes long just to log in. After in game, it’s pretty damn fast after death.

2) by April, not have many many more being produced and readily available. It’s almost 6 months and still not available at b&m retail stores, online, etc. I heard it was something about a chip and company that makes them is or was shut down, wherever in the world bc of Covid, and that’s reason why XSX can’t be mass produced?

As I stated before I have no interest in getting one before Flight Simulator comes out. Then I will definitely want one.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Yeah, I see no need to upgrade. I still have about 6 hard copy games in my backlog and AC:Odyssey digital to play. With gamepass I now have Outriders to play as well. With that
many hours of gameplay left I’ll likely wait for the second generation of the series x.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Since when does MS charge you 10 days early for a digital game? I preordered Nier: Replicant that doesn’t come out till 4/23 and got charged yesterday. Since when they been doing that? Amazon for stuff sometimes a day or 2 before shipping, but games not charged till day of release. Seems odd ten days to charge so early. Why 10 days? Where they get that number from?

Ok. I rarely noticed or rarely preorder from them. Just asking.

On the PS4 and PS5 you pay when you preorder the game. I only preorder digital games that I KNOW I want. I don't think they give a refund like MS does.

Question - Why preorder a digital game, especially weeks in advance? Are the games cheaper? Do they pre-load so you can play at 12:01 on release date? Just personal timing/preference?

A lot of them do preload, or there are preorder bonuses/discounts or whatnot. If not for bonuses, though, I don't get preordering games at all unless you are just really really excited and want to pay the tax to get it right out of the gate.

Didn't you hate and give up on NieR: Automata because of the opening mission?
Replicant is technically the previous game, and admittedly I haven't played the original version of it, but I can't imagine someone who didn't like Automata going all-in on this version of Replicant in particular.

I may have dl’d some Games with Gold for free, but I don’t think I’ve played a single one. They’re there, but just not interested in trying them out too soon. Having too much damn fun with these speedy, great looking, new titles recently out.

I don’t really think I gave it enough of a chance. I mean I barely remember and maybe played a few minutes. That’s no way to judge a game. I saw the reviews and footage for Automata and it just looks gorgeous and gameplay I like. Again, only judging by footage, but they both look gorgeous and I’m getting into these RPGish type games.

Replicant looks just as gorgeous and figured what the hell. Sure I’ll play Automata first. I didn’t know Replicant was previously released. Is this just a remaster then? I figured full price, it was new game. So better to play Replicant first, story wise? And, I did get the preorder soundtrack for N:R, so there’s that. Will I ever listen to it? Probably not.

Either way, they look up my alley as of late and both look gorgeous, plus sucker for enhanced games for XSX. I know they are fast and will look great, almost all of the time. If I have the hardware, why not make good use of it? I paid more than half a grand for it for goodness sake.

Opening to more genres than straight FPS and I’m liking it. Missed out for so long on these genres. Diablo, Warhammer top down RPG action games, 3rd person, ARPG. Good to try new things. Enjoy so much more with more variety. Probably only started recently with Ori and Blind Forest.

From what I understand - Replicant takes place a long long time before Automata. And Replicant is more of a hybrid remake/remaster than anything - the gameplay was overhauled by the crew that made Automata (Platinum Games) in addition to graphical and audio overhauls.

I haven't played Replicant yet so I can't say which one to play first, but I loved Automata. Actually, I'd say be safe, play Automata first.

As for the soundtrack, if it's a physical copy you can probably sell it on eBay. People went cuckoo for the Automata soundtrack (it was a bit much for me, but people that love it, really love it.), being sung in a language that sort of borrows heavily from other languages without actually being a full fledged language itself probably helped.

Nier Automata is the sequel to Nier Replicant. If you've waited this long, you may as well start with the original. Or do whatever you want, there isn't really a direct narrative connection, though I guess more connections to Automata have been added to the new game.

Nier Replicant was released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010. The North American release was just titled "Nier" and featured a middle aged man as main character. The original Japanese release featured a teenage boy as the protagonist. This, among other things, was changed because it was thought that this would make it more acceptable to American audiences.

The new game is a remake of that game from 2010 for new consoles and goes with the original Japanese character design.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Yeah, to be clear, the games take place like 6000 years apart. They're connected, but only in the wink wink nudge nudge sort of way where not understanding the connection should have little to no impact on enjoyment of either one. Like, you have to get the first game's fourth or fifth ending just to see part of how it leads into Automata.
And the connection dates back even further to another game that works as a precursor to NieR... but only if you get that game's fifth ending which reveals an event that leads into the NeiR games.
The whole thing is a beautiful mess but it's intriguing.

Anyway yeah, it doesn't matter what you play first. But if you really want a deep dive into the lore, there are YouTube videos that will cover all of that for you.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

The reminds of Automata's video reel that plays when you're on the main screen (the sizzle reel)

Not a single clip is from the first two "playthroughs" of the game

Hmmm. Not making it an easy choice. Maybe wait till Replicant actually comes out and read, see reviews. If not so good, Automata. If good Rep first. If absolutely terrible then Auto all the way.

I assume the base game will be part of Game Pass Ultimate so you could always just check it out for free just to mess around with all the assists on and buzz around the skyscrapers in New York and Chicago.
