Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

^ I just downloaded today. Haven’t gotten to it. But, I do have game on preorder and your thoughts have me worried. I was really taken by the look, as you said it is absolutely beautiful game design and graphics and feel which is why I preordered...

The demo only takes about a half hour to play through if you want to kick the tires. You also get some kind of bonus for the full game for completing it, although it’s not clear what that bonus is, exactly.

Perhaps, I’ll give it a whirl tomorrow, but so invested in RE: Village. Really amazing thus far.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Anyone here get one of these?
I'm going out on a limb and assuming they're Xbox related, because... Green... And folks who have got them all said they've ordered from iam8bit (a gaming boutique with vinyl/toys/LEs) in the last few years.

Interesting...

A buddy finally got a Series X through Wal-Mart and All Access. He is stoked.

Nice! Nothing like finally snagging the console you’ve been after.

it's funny. One week he is like, I will wait for flight sim. Then the next week he is like, I need one now! He is a multiplatform guy, so not having this has been eating him up.

Lol I was that way about PS5. I’m an Xbox guy but I’ve always owned a Sony console. I was like “I’m gonna get one. Damn, sold out. Nah, don’t need one. Nothing to play. Hmmm, Spider-Man looks good. Returnal. Ratchet and Clank. Screw it, I need one.”

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I just want a software sale on Sony titles. I realize they have one right now but 10 bucks off just brings it back in line with last gen full price, really.

edit: oops, wrong thread, I was fooled by that last post talking about Spider-man.

But the point I guess is that I really wanted the consoles yet I've barely played them besides some backward compatible (but improved) stuff.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Holy shit, there is literally zero games getting released for the Xbox in July and August. Three games for an entire quarter for a system. Not three exclusives, three games.

At least there may not be a shortage of XSX any more by the time some interesting XSX exclusives finally come out.

That's not a full picture. Cris Tales and The Ascent are both July releases, for instance, and they're both coming to GamePass at launch.

I'm seeing more than that elsewhere. From the 2021 in video games Wikipedia page:

Looking at Best Buy's preorders, they don't seem to have anything for August, but I do see 3 titles slated for July...none of which are in the list above, so maybe it's not the most bulletproof resource.

It's especially slim pickings on the Xbox, but it's not a particularly gorgeous picture for any platform.

Today I learned that Blaster Master Zero 3 is multi-platform! Nice! I played the hell out of BMZ on the Switch, but never got around to BMZ2.

Yeah, PS4/5 isn't much better. At least Nintendo has Skyward Sword HD and No More Heroes 3.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits on the PS4/PS5 is another standout.

I'm looking forward to trying Cris Tales on GamePass. I haven't fiddled around with the demo that's been out forever, but the videos I've seen look gorgeous.

And maybe there'll be some last minute-ish announcements at E3. (Flight Simulator can't be too much further out, can it?)

Don't forget the Sports games that are released in the fall. Madden, FIFA , NHL and WWE 2K.

Why does Playstation seem to have much more highly acclaimed exclusives than MS?

Microsoft’s massive acquisitions spree was to help with that, but game development takes so long that we haven’t seen the benefits of this yet.

But I don’t think it’ll ever be apples-to-apples, as it seems to me like MS is going for breadth over a relatively small number of seismic hits a year. MS’ approach makes sense if you’re feeding a service like Game Pass; Sony’s is a better fit with the more traditional model.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Also, the Xbox is (to my knowledge) still dead in Japan, so unless Microsoft ponies up money or it's a huge franchise, those games will only be developed for Playstation (and switch where appropriate)

man, that sucks. even Halo: Infinite doesn't even look so amazing and that was their staple and a fine one at that, but gimmie more...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Reach was ok. Probably is best of new shit. I haven’t even finished 5. Nothing is the same as original trilogy, especially 2. Those are and will forever be classics.
