Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20
I just found out PS5 players have to pay to buy games again if already had on PS4. Why is that? That seems stupid, especially when MS made it free mostly.

That’s not true. Some upgrades aren’t free (and a fairly small number at that), but that’s also the case on the Xbox. At worst, you can play the PS4 version on the PS5, but you’re not locked out altogether.

Yeah the upgrades are the same for both systems. And any PS5 exclusive with an available upgrade is free (except for FF VII Remake - - if you got the free version from PS Plus. If you got a retail version, then the PS5 upgrade is free (except for the new content which can be purchased separately).
Also Tony Hawk 1 &. 2 Remake is upgradable for both systems digitally but only the PS4 disc based version can be upgraded to the next Gen version, not the XO one.

But the lag still isn't quite right for competitive games (it's fine for most single player titles though) and Xbox streaming still has some hiccups to work out.

Personally...I feel MS is in the driver's seat with more to gain, focus on expanding and bringing gaming to all avenues, access, and availability to all; be it consoles to PC to built-in devices inside TV's. Despite I like Sony, the games and Playstation, I feel they've become lax and relying on a handful of Studios and Games that's carried them to the top..Last of Us, Bloodborne, Uncharted, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War....for the 2nd straight year they're not even attending E3 which has left some perplexed....while MS has been out annoucing and doing huge plans like incorporating XB tech inside TV's and already in talks with TV Manufactures....
I for one will be watching the MS and Bethesda joint Conference Tomorrow with great interest...it's MS show to win with little to lose since Sony is a no-show. I've told several PS4 friends the XBox Game pass is almost a no brainer especially anyone looking into getting into Gaming.....which right now again MS has the advantage with the appeal to both Consoles and PC players; Sony does not and in fact sort has given PC Players a ho-hum response. What MS and Bethesda does, say and show tomorrow might didctate me on getting a PC instead of even thinking about a PS5 which by all accounts the shortage will remain for a long time.

Absolutely. Times are changing. Streaming and lack of hardware dependency is much more a thing. And with a lot of MS's other offerings, they're well versed in SaaS and subscription services.
I've always leaned console versus PC as gamer, but that's mostly because I started PC gaming in the days of EMS and XMS and MMS memory and boot disks and jumping through hoops to play one game. And my personal computer is like ten years old. But if MS is selling "Netflix for games", which they absolutely are, getting on as many devices as possible, as easily/cheaply as possible, is the way to go. I was never interested in "gaming on a streaming stick", but that's because it was (at least as far as I knew) really simple 'casual' games that used the Roku remote to play or something. Just not a fun experience, or games I actively choose to play on that device. But if I can have a Game Pass Streaming Stick or something, or access to their games and maybe the service built in to TVs, and all you need is a controller - that could be huge. I'm sure there are still technical challenges ahead, and it'll be interesting to see how they can replicate a game that's a 75gb download on Xbox via a Smart TV OS, but it's a big play with a really big potential benefit to MS.

Shredders looks at least a generation earlier than Steep which came out a few years ago.

I didn’t really understand what kind of game The Ascent is based on that trailer. Is it an isometric ARPG?. Nice that it is coming soon so I can at least check it out.
